My friend and I recently ate at The Crown & Anchor for an evening meal and enjoyed our evening. I love the selection of drinks and the pub itself feels classy, warm and open. My friend is gluten intolerant and we were impressed that they have a whole gluten free menu. We both had Chicken Liver Pâté to start (my friend's had gluten free bread) and we thought it was lovely. For the main course I had a special for the evening - lamb shank with mashed potato and fresh vegetables - and it was delicious. We were stuffed by our starters and main courses, so we skipped dessert, but we would definitely return again!

A really nice little pub with a great function room at the top with a balcony area that looks out at the sea. There are often live music events involving all ages.

Popped in for a pint and a snack and walked out twenty quid down. We had a pint of cider, one of carling and 2 toasted sandwiches and I had 50p change from a twenty. The sandwich tasted nice but I walked away thinking I had paid a bit too much particularly as the hotel I stayed in was charging less for the same drinks. The guy who served me was a nice and friendly fella but the lad who delivered the food looked fed up and forgot the cutlery and sauces. If I went back to Eastbourne I think I’d look elsewhere if I was hungry.

On holiday with my parents. Found Crown and Anchor on Trip advisor and we weren't disappointed. Lucy was great she sorted my parents egg and chips as thats what they fancied. I had the fish and chips. Portions were great value. Staff were very friendly and helpful. More importantly they charged separately for my parents made up meal. Definitely going back in fact planning on returning Thursday 7th June.

I visited here one Saturday lunchtime. The pub was fairly busy so I sat at the bar and sank a few Guinness, which seemed to be fresh and well kept. I did not eat or see the menu but it seems to offer proper pub grub. It is very close to the seafront and is one of the only pubs in the part of Eastbourne that it occupies so it seems to get very busy. I am going to be returning to Eastbourne in the near future and will be returning to the Crown and give the food a try next time.

One of the very few pubs on the seafront, lively, sky sports and live music.
Very friendly service and a well run pub.

We did not eat but the food coming out looks good with very large portions

It is rare that a pub can pull off doing everything but the crown and anchor does this well. Nice pub, good pub grub food, sports area showing all of the games on large screens and also bands and entertainment on a weekend evening. And to top it off a great area upstairs for functions.
Nice range of beers and decent, well priced typical pub food. Kids portions are huge and great value.Always found the staff to be very friendly and helpful.

Whilst visiting Eastbourne overnight, decided to try the Crown & Anchor.
Pub style restaurant, which was busy when we arrived. Had a nice atmosphere and no problem getting a table. The food was averagely priced and there was a good choice. Food was served within 15 mins of ordering which was great.
Everyone enjoyed their food and the Hulloumi burger was very tasty...and I’m not a vegetarian either!! Staff were friendly and chatty and whole meal out was good.
Only a short walk from our hotel too.

The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The food excellent and Friday night's entertainment had the whole place jumping in fact it was so enjoyable we stayed much later than we intended. We had lunch on our 1st day of sausage sandwiches which we really enjoyed, just the sandwich with some salad not with added chips as you seem to get wenever you order a sandwich. We went back for dinner as it was just over the road and it was pouring down I had pork belly and my wife steak pie (what a slab of pie!!!) really nice. Highly recommended.

Stopped here for lunch on a weekend away. Staff friendly and pub busy. Lunch was really good pub food, and beer was really well kept. Called in on a Saturday night and there was a decent covers band playing and the pub was full. Nice place, lively and good food and drink.

We called in here for lunch after visiting the amazing Redoubt Fortress.
Crown and Anchor has a large food menu and Mrs.P. ordered the homemade Steak and Ale Pie. Too often pubs have a stew topped with a disc of puff pastry. Not here; its real pie topped with shortcrust pastry top and bottom. There was a choice of mash, chips or roast potatoes and the latter was chosen. Three large really crisp roasties came with an assortment of fresh home cooked vegetable and a jug of gravy. I was so jealous. My sausage baguette with coleslaw and salad garnish was fine but I wish I’d ordered the pie…
We shared a bottle of house red: La Serre Cabernet Sauvignon Vin du Pays d’Oc, French bottled and a decent honest gluggable wine for a fair price.
I was thinking about that pie all day and so we went back in the evening for dinner. Being a gentleman I held open the door for two ladies only to find they’d taken the only remaining table, so we had to go elsewhere.
This place is a must next time in Eastbourne.

The place doesn't look great from outiside, but inside is cosy and clean with a lovely hidden terrace with a few tables where to enjoy your meal. We were in 6 and we all loved our fish and chips. Fresh fish well fried.
