Arrived at 430 after a good journey down from Yorkshire with National Holidays. First impressions of the room were not that good due to an ancient, threadbare carpet complete with the Wallace Arnold logo which was indicative of its age. Having got past that, the room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, some effort had been made to coordinate the soft furnishings and everything was in working order (with the exception of the hot water on Saturday morning!).
The food was fine with 3 starters, 2 meat,1 fish and 1 veggie option and a choice of desserts including cheese and biscuits. At breakfast, some additional items ( eg yogurt and poached eggs) were available on request. What made the dining experience particularly stand out were the staff who were all well presented, polite and attentive. Little phrases such as, "Of course", "You're welcome" and "Enjoy" make such a difference and the team should be complimented on their skills which make such a refreshing change when compared to other hotels that I've stayed in recently.
The hotel is very well situated for access to the lovely unspoilt promenade and the compact town centre. I'd recommend walking on to Holywell (about one and a half miles to the west) where there is a lovely sheltered Tea Chalet which serves delicious home baking.
Despite the long journey, I would definitely return to Eastbourne and would be happy to stay at The Burlington again.

Stayed Monday to Friday with Shearings , Very friendly staff Mark the entertainer was made for the job , our only complaint about the hotel was it was too warm, we were in room 334 on the 3rd floor and we had to leave to window wide open and the curtains open all night to be able to get to sleep

Stayed four nights with Shearings. Hotel has great seafront location close to the pier and in its prime must have been one of "The" places to stay!
Sadly the condition of the hotel at present is a little on the shabby side and needs a good overhaul.
Our room was on the fourth floor and at the rear of the hotel. Perfectly adequate for our needs and typical Shearings decor and fittings. Room very clean and well serviced throughout our stay. Bed comfy. Bathroom with shower over bath was ok again very clean with spotless towels changed on a regular basis.
Slow emptying of bath and basin would suggest potential blockage in near future. Original sash Windows did rattle when weather windy and could trouble a light sleeper.
Wall mounted tv with Freeview channels. No wifi in room but ok in ground floor public areas.
Meals were good both breakfast( buffet ) , and evening meal which was a 3 course with a choice of 4 dishes per course. Portion size adequate and service in the restaurant excellent. Genuinely helpful and efficient staff .
This is the first Shearings hotel , of many we have visited over the last few years , that has introduced 2 meal sittings and no allocated tables. Great idea and hopefully this will be rolled out at their other locations.
Overall good clean efficiently managed and well staffed hotel but building condition needs attention . Would we stay again? Yes.

Another lovely weekend at the Burlington, staff as always are lovely & friendly, our room was nice & clean the only thing l would have liked was a bit more shelving in the bathroom as the one we had was very small so our toiletries had to be left on the floor, food was yummy the only complaint we had was the long wait we had before getting served our 1st course (35 mins - which could have been longer but l did politely ask the waitress if we could have some service as by then we were getting really hungry) l think everybody preferred the old way of being allocated a table on the 1st night rather then hunting for a table to sit at but all in all we had a great time & will definitely be back for another weekend break - so well done everybody & see you soon :-) :-)

On a long weekend with 42 like minded people taking in the match at Crawley.I heard
little or no complaints about the hotel, with an excellent breakfast buffet, a choice at dinner of three different starters, mains and sweets all of decent portion sizes. My wife
and I were allocated room 321 which was very spacious with plenty of wardrobe space and a walk in shower, tea and coffee with kettle and a hair dryer were also provided.
The bonus was with being an end room we got a promenade view at the side window
and a sea view at the front. The staff we dealt with were mainly from Portugal and were
both helpful and friendly. We would be happy to stay here again although the old girl is
in need of some TLC to compliment it's great position on the sea front.I felt the talk on
coach as we made our long journey home to MORECAMBE was full of positives from all as we were a mixed group of gender and ages.

A very nice Hotel. Right on the front with all things needed within walking distance. Our room 131 was very warm even with window open all holiday. This isn't a moan, just an observation. Very clean and spacious. The shower was very powerful and water hot. Mark the man doing the bingo and comparing for our 1st 2 nights was very good. Our party ranged from 18-70 which is probably a bit different from normal groups. Bit we all had a good time. The bar staff were also very good, putting up with us lot and having a laugh. The food was as you would expect. Buffet breakfast plenty of choice. Evening meals there was 4 choices including a vegetarian one. All in all a very nice Hotel, would have no problem returning in the future.

visited with shearings. 5/3/18 to 9/3/18. we were so lucky to be in Eastbourne on such a lovely week. The hotel was warm and welcoming and our sea view room was clean and comfortable. the bathroom was slightly disappointing since an overbath shower is not ideal. a leaking shower hose was reported and replaced immediately. evening meals were served at a civilized time of 7.15 and were really tasty and nicely served. vegetables especially good, not watery or over cooked. we enjoyed our stay and would return, we especially appriciated the way the staff dealt with a friend who was poorly as we arrived. All in all, a lovely hotel, and the staff do it justice.

We planned a 4 day stay at the Burlington, in order to visit old haunts around the area.
The snow and cold weather had other ideas. However this did not stop the hotel doing their best to keep you warm, feed you well and entertain you each evening. Due to the forecast we thought it best to return home early, but we hope to return to here again soon as the hospitality if very good

I felt that the hotel was clean. Rooms were adequate we stayed in a standard room. If you want a sea view you need to upgrade but I was told that a sea view can be very noisy in the summer, with young people and hen and stag parties. The staff were excellent and went out of their way to be helpful and were always courteous. The food was of a high standard. Whilst we were there we had a leaking toilet from the cistern. We offered a different room immediately but as we had only one night left we coped. Entertainment was excellent each night as it was February it provided us with a pleasant stay.

The hotel was recommended by several people on a previous trip with Shearings. The hotel is very good nice size single room buffet breakfast couldn't be faulted and the evening dinner top stuff .my only problem with this trip was the inward and outward journeys.Seem to take an eternity as did the return journey. But the hotel cannot be faulted .

This hotel is on the front a couple of minutes walk from the pier. It was warm and comfortable and clean. No problems with the food, the choice of vegetables was sometimes a bit weird, I had fish and chips with cabbage and cauliflower. There is only one vegetable choice no matter what you choose. However the quality of food was very good and the breakfast excellent. I had a room at the back which was really quiet and to the side of the hotel away from the pier and so no road noise. I was on the first floor and could not hear the entertainment although some said they could hear it at the other end of the hotel . If you like the quiet ask for a high room or one on the side away from the pier. Service was good throughout the hotel, excellent staff and very friendly. I found the bar quite expensive so the Shearings Deals with inclusive drinks represent good value for money. My single room was spacious but there was no shower curtain which I realised later was because the shower did not work. I managed with just a bath but I am sure that I could have changed rooms if I had asked. The room was 150 for reference. I liked everything else about the room. All in all this was a nice hotel with good food in a great location.

This is the first time that we have stayed at this hotel and were very impressed by being given a Standard Plus Room because we had booked early at the higher price. We had room 220 which was very comfortable and had a lovely bathroom with a walk in shower.

I cannot agree with the previous review about the hotel being "run down, tatty, bad food and unhelpful staff". They must have stayed at a different hotel.

The hotel is very comfortable and the staff were excellent. The food was everything that you can expect on a Shearings holiday. The buffet breakfast was excellent and the evening meals were varied and served by very pleasant waiters and waitresses.

The new regime of splitting the evening meal sittings worked well except that if you went at the later time there were still people having their meals.

The only complaint that we had was that the sash windows were not fully sealed and therefore as it was very wet and windy for a couple of days we were a bit cold.

All in all we had a lovely holiday, despite the weather, and would probably return to this hotel in the near future, hopefully with better weather!

This was the third time we have brought a group of our care home residents for afternoon tea at the Burlington Hotel. As on previous occasions, we were welcomed with smiles and a caring attitude. Tables had been reserved and laid for us and tea and excellent scones, jam and cream were served in a patient and un-hurried manner. Nothing was too much trouble and our residents always enjoy going there. No, the hotel is not a brand new modern building, but it has a delightful charm and many people appreciate hotels with history and classic features over characterless bland properties! Thank you to the staff who looked after us with understanding and generosity. We will be back!

We had a sea view, the room was very big with a lot of room to move about. The wife and my self are in our early 60s and we were the young age group there, We paid for B&B and was planning to eat out but when we asked about evening meal which was £29.00 for a 3 course meal for us both, so we ended staying in, After the meal we went into the hall area with a dance floor and a bar, plenty of room on the dance floor plus bingo every night before the show begins, Couples were up dancing to the old music, Waltz, quick step like watching strictly come dancing. Then the singer come on playing Sinatra dean martin type songs, I was paying for the drinks but most had voucher's (all inclusive), the lager was £4.10 pint, breakfast was a buffet wife waiters serving tea coffee. A lot of the couples we spoke to have been here many times before. The hotel is very big on the sea front and 3 minutes from town, All types of restaurant's just around the corner from the hotel. Parking maybe a problem. Apart from the parking a nice break away would recommend. As I say on all my reviews this is my opinion only yours may be different

This is the Fourth stay at the Burlington and just as good as previous Naomi on Reception was really helpful she checked us in and was in our room very quickly as arrived by car just before the coach arrived our room was a good size on the 4th floor with a good sea view great shower in bathroom and enough closet space for our stay the only fault we found with this hotel was the windows are wooden sash and the draught coming through made the room cold even though the radiators was boiling hot there was also a seperate electric heater in room we found out other guests had put towels round the windows the buffet breakfast is very good with a good selection of serials toast grapefruit prunes hot bacon sausage eggs bean etc great value for money will be returning very soon thank you all at the Burlington

we had a 3 day break with shearing at this hotel. hotel is beautiful but the beds are very very hard and for this reason would not stay at this hotel again. The meals were quite small could not understand why 2 people got the same amount as a person on their own, surely we should have had a larger portion.

We have travelled several times with Shearings & used this interchange. I had thought the place looked rather tired, so I was pleasantly surprised this time to find there had been a makeover! I have to say we missed the little table areas inbetween the seats. It is a busy hub with feeder coaches arriving with their passengers. Refreshments are available at reasonable prices as well as newspapers. Announcements are frequently made to keep their passengers informed, there TV displays as well to inform passengers about departures. All the luggage is taken off the feeder coaches & loaded on to the appropriate destination coaches by their staff.
There are good & clean loos too!
