The size and location of the room in the hotel was good. Nice selection of biscuits and hot chocolate drink at bedtime. Although the room was at the back of the Hotel it was nice and quiet and just two small flights of stairs from the ground floor if the lift was engaged. Our stay was good value. A good selection of food at breakfast but would be nice to extend the time to 9.30 am We booked a 'Superior' twin room which on your website gave an indication that this would be a front facing sea view and would include a coffee machine. Unfortunately this was not the case. We were allocated a back room with a view of a flat roof covered in cigarette ends and empty packets and no coffee machine. What a shame! However the Reception staff did try their best to rectify the situation without success.

The property is quite dated and not in a good way. The elevators are barely adequate and the room finishes are tired. The parking is minimal but the staff were quite friendly and pleasant.

Great location, great view, friendly staff. Double room with sea view was disappointing. Very dated and in need of a makeover and new windows.

Adequate, comfortable beds, needs renovating . Position . Convenience . Some parts if the building are very old and need desperate renovation.

Eastbourne weekend away The staff were lovely and the hotel was clean and I can imagine it was a wonderful hotel in its prime. The only thing I didn't like was that the hotel was rather shabby. I appreciate it is such a huge hotel but repairs need to be done especially the cracked basin in the bedroom and the very slow, shuddery lift.

Good location, parking and room, 100% let down by breakfast. Superior room excellent taking into consideration this is an old hotel Breakfast was appalling. Availability of eggs at breakfast - only scrambled on offer and to availability at 9.10 am. Fresh fruit salad missing on day 4 and Yoghurt missing on day 3. Staff informed us they had been to local supermarket to get supplies.

Stayed twice, one stay at the front of the hotel, lovely big rooms, big tv etc. Stayed at the back of the hotel, like a different hotel, rooms were terrible, old, not clean, small and really out of date and in a bad way.

Great location, lovely sea view, comfy room, parking get there early! Fantastic location, staff kind and very helpful. Our room
was lovely and very clean. It had everything we needed.
No aircon was an issue for us as was very hot day. The room was so hot we had to go out and buy another fan. The parking was tricky. Luckily we managed to get the very last space at a cost of £6.50 extra. The hotel itself is in need of a decor re vamp. Very tired and shabby in the hallways, reception area and carpets on stairs very ripped. I was worried about what the room was like but thankfully the room was modern and newly refurbished. The money is spent on the rooms which is fair. The only issue we really had was toilet was very packed in. Difficult to use if you are a 6f man 15 plus stone. My partner couldn’t use it. He had to use communal downstairs 😂

First of all the food here is fab can’t fault that at all
I felt a bit let down that I complained about my room and the lady at reception couldn’t move us ,so my mum complained and they moved us both, maybe I was too polite
This hotel needs a Very Big Update and Soon
We have stayed in many hotels but unfortunately it’s like faulty towers
I do hope that in the near future that it gets a good update on some rooms ,don’t know about the sea views didn’t have one

Also no entertainment only on Thursdays/Saturdays what a shame could of had entertainment on other nights too
No bingo

The lifts 1 working and the other 1 Not was not that great
So please do give this hotel TLC then the rewards would be great 👍

Short stay the hotel was very near the pier. The room was spacious and in the evening there was live music in the bar area, which was a bonus. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very limited, the smell along the corridor was very strong at night, possibly coming from the fire escape. Luckily did not seep into my room.

Lovely weather and a pleasant stay for a long weekend break and steam punk festival. Staff were friendly. Fresh towels were provided promptly when requested. The shower was the best I've had in an English hotel, consistent temperature and flow and easy to access. Location was ideal for us. The car park saved us having to find a space on the road and worry about having change to pay daily for it. The view from our window - a backstreet and dustbins.
The toilet was squeezed in a corner behind the bathroom door; had to sit "side-saddle" to use it and then contort to reach the toilet roll.

Staff were excellent, but this hotel is not disabled friendly. No ramp to access hotel, only 1 lift in use, and the tiniest shower in our room I have ever come across.
The room itself was pleasant, and spacious.

Very grand old Victorian seafront hotel The superior sea view room was excellent. Really well equipped, very spacious, fabulous view, very comfortable, plenty of complimentary tea/coffee, with a coffee making machine. Great bathroom with superb shower. Sunrise was a spectacular event, with sunshine bursting through the south facing windows. Great location, close to the beach and all the restaurants & bars. Parking was not guaranteed, but we were lucky on both nights, right behind the hotel, very convenient. Staff were friendly and efficient, and the breakfast was adequate, considering the number of guests being served. Couldn't complain. The hotel has two bars and live entertainment. There is also a restaurant, however the menu didn't tempt us to eat there, especially with so many others close by. The hotel is very grand, and very old, and looking in need of a complete refurbishment. However, that would cost a fortune and take ages, so I expect the owners will keep operating on a budget as long as possible. So, for the tariff, I can't see how anyone can complain. Only one of two lifts is working, and I expect that will fail at some point. We were worried it would happen with us inside, it's only big enough for 4 people, so the there was a queue for it at peak times.
