A good hotel with a great location! The room had a seaview and was very comfortable & clean. The staff are friendly & helpful. The shower could have done with a bit more power!

I stayed at this hotel for one night and overall it was quite good for the price. The room was decent—clean and comfortable enough for a short stay. It also had a nice sea view, which made the stay more enjoyable. It wasn’t anything luxurious, but it had everything I needed. Considering the cost, I think it offers good value. Would recommend it if you’re looking for a budget-friendly option.

Cheap and cheerful. Very close to town centre and sea front. Could be noisy at night and no breakfast over the weekend.

Basic & served a purpose - needs updating. Location was good, room had sea view. Tired decor, no staff in sight for check out.

The view, and very nice welcome. The gentalman on reception was very kind and friendly. The noise from stupid drunks having an orgy in their room . No comments.
But is not hotels fault.

Location right opposite pier. Comfy bed. Staff polite Old building so slight smell of damp but we literally only slept in the room so all good

Always Pleased Have stayed at the Afton many times now. Never disappointed.
Rooms are always clean, beds are comfortable and the staff are always helpful.

Great location, room facing to the sea. Receptionist were helpful and kind. The room standards is really poor. The photos displaying are none of the real room status. Not matching at all. The towels were dirty. The shower is dirty and very basic. Windows are hard to open. Only opens close to the floor. Double bed is realisticly two single pushed together. Bed sheets looked clean but did not smell right. Not a nice place to stay.

A good weekend stay I stayed on a room only basis. The hotel is very well situated, right opposite the Pier, and quite near the shops. My room was very comfortable znd clean. The staff (a family?) were friendly and welcoming. I would stay again. The room tended to be cold at night. If the radiator was on I was unable to adjust it. Also the Wifi was unstable and kept dropping out.

The place was very good.

Our first visit to Eastbourne it's a long way from the Midlands! We were on a coach trip and stayed over Christmas.
Our room was a decent size and the single radiator was on 24/7 so we were very warm,even though the windows are single glazed and it was incredibly windy. That being said,the larger main rooms on the ground floor were not very warm.
Staff were very pleasant and went out of their way to be helpful. There were decorations and numerous Christmas trees around.
The hotel was full so on the first night we were allocated a table. Our fellow diners were from a different area so off another coach. The first meal was quite bland, not a good start for a special break, however meals served after this were better so it wasnt a complete disaster.
Entertainment was from 8pm,first Bingo followed by a singer. It would have been good to have entertainment of some kind,such as a quiz,or similar in the daytime. Nothing to do between meals, we did walk out a bit, but it was so cold and windy that we couldn't stay outside for long. There wasn't sufficient comfortable seating to watch the TV in the lounge so we watched a few programmes in our room!! We'd have been much more comfortable at home. Only dining style chairs available in the bedroom.
My husband had wanted to go away to a hotel for Christmas for many years. Well,we've tried it and unless there's more than a short trip out on Christmas Eve to Hastings, we won't be doing it again.
Drinks were priced sensibly here,a bottle of wine was £18.99, lots more than at the supermarket but less than usual at a hotel. I understand that Beer was around £4 for a pint.
This hotel needs a bit of decorating and bringing up to date,no frills but they certainly tried hard. We had a little gift from Santa on Christmas Day, which was a nice touch. Also at lunchtime sandwiches and cake were provided.
At least I didn't have to shop or cook over Christmas but I did need more entertainment.

Went for Christmas 5days trip with local travel firm Dunwoods .Everything was excellent cases take to room lovely and warm and walk in shower as asked for plus stool .
Food again excellent 3 choices every night full English plus cereals for breakfast tea coffee ,the staff were very friendly and helpful nothing was to much problem,
Bar prices very reasonable good entertainment every night and game of Bingo .
All in all a wonderful time would definitely go again Thank you

This Hotel is old and quite dated. Very much in need of complete refurbishment, saying that, the food was good, the service was excellent, and all staff very friendly. Its a 2 star hotel and I think that's a fair rating, plus it's right on the sea front, overlooking the pier.

I was only there for 1 night but I can say that staff/owners were amazingly friendly and even though I was was only in the room to get me head down after a few drinks in town it was perfect for me and what I needed. Nothing

Bath tub was fantastic really comfy place and lovely to be in the staff went out their way to greet and make sure the room had a bath . I was really impressed by it all. Absolutely nothing to dislike loved the place!
