We stayed at the Afton in connection with our wedding reception which was also held at the hotel. From the first time we visited to make enquiries to the moment we left the day after our reception the one thing that shone through was the professionalism and friendliness of every member of staff we met.
The hotel was clean, the food was good, bar prices were very reasonable and everyone had a great time. The rooms weren't huge, but again were clean, functional and with a comfortable bed and great views from the room we had.
In summary it is very easy to forget this is a two star hotel and we are already thinking of the next occasion we could celebrate at the Afton.

The hotel is opposite the pier making it a good base for your seaside holiday. The staff in the hotel are very friendly and helpful.
The rooms are not to small and have your basic requirements which are needed as well as WiFi coverage in the rooms. The front rooms of the hotel have good views of the pier and the sea. There can be a bit of noise from the street at night due to people leaving the bars at the pier.

very warm friendly helpfull staff , excellent food and service , clean comfortable room with pier and sea view , and above all - dog friendly ... this is our second weekend stay as we were there last feb and it was as good or even better than before , definatly recomend and be revisiting .thanks to all the staff wayne and michelle.

My daughter and I stayed one night. I was really pleased with the reception, very nice staff. Very clean throughout. We loved our room with an excellent sea view! Breakfast was lovely. Would definately recommend to anyone who wants a nice peaceful stay in a clean friendly environment.

A lovely well decorated budget hotel. Only concern during our stay was that the fire extinguisher by the lift on the third floor was out of pressure, in addition to this stairs were not that well sign posted. due to the fire risk in hotels this did concern me.

Our stay at the Afton was very welcoming, thanks to a very pleasant group of staff they have there.
Our first stay in a 'dog friendly' hotel which was just that - staff and residents made us feel very at home.

only an overnight stay. Found the hotel just two minutes from the seafront. Rooms small but very clean and beds very comfortable with lovely cotton sheets. Breakfast was nice and hot. Staff very friendly and helpful. Also parking is a nightmare but the hotel offers an parking ticket at a huge discount. Would recommed this hotel.

on arrival we went to our room it was very modern and average sized.
they managers and staff members are very friendly & helpful we really enjoyed our stay and will be returning to this hotel alot in the future with family and my partner.
only problem we had was that we had to leave wanted to stay loved this hotel.
they diserve more stars above that door.

Hotel is well situated very friendly welcome and all staff were very friendly throughout stay. Nice bar and function room. The rooms are modern and very clean with tv kettle,hairdrier etc All bed linen and towels were spotless and after the first night the room was cleaned to a very high standard so no complaints at all. Breakfast was very nice with lots of choice and again very good service. Would I go back yes very very good

For the money and location it is a good deal. There are no fancy frills, basic rooms and ammenities, but a nice relaxed atmosphere and an excellent breakfast with good service.

Me & my wife recently stayed at the afton hotel and found it to be just perfect from the moment we arrived, the staff here are great and made us feel very welcome. You had a variety of choice when it came to breakfast and meal time followed by some light entertainment in the evening. The hotel was in a great location opposite the pier so you can go for walks along the sea front and only a few minutes walk from the town where you could go for a nice lunch or meal. I would certainly stay here again and definately recommend the hotel to anyone thinking of staying in eastbourne. GREAT VALUE! , 5 STAR*****

recently stayed at the afton hotel and what a pleasure it was. i was made to feel very welcome by all the staff. The manager mr mccabe was very accommadating. breakfast was the best i've had in a long time and in the evening i spent a lovely time in the warm welcomeing bar and an execellent bar man (i think was call max) made my wife and myself feel at home. can,t wait to return for a longer break.

just had a holiday at this hotel and would say that this is where you would get what you pay for!! Althought the food is adequate it is somewhat unimaginative. The rooms are, by comparison with other two star hotels, a little on the small side so if you are a small person then you will be o.k. However the staff at the hotel are really great and will do everything possible to make your meal times a pleasurable experience (one thing here is the fact that you can have a really good breakfast and it is well cooked). Entertainment whilst my wife and I were there was excellent and it made for a good evening in.

This was the 2nd time we have had an overnight stay at the Afton. And again great value for money. The 3 course evening meal at only £10 a head was tasty, the breakfast very good too. There is also entertainment on in the evenings , a keyboard player was on Thursday evening, we enjoyed it. We will most certainly stay at the Afton next time we are in Eastbourne. A clean hotel that is reasonably priced, friendly staff, what more could you want...

quite often have to stay overnight in Eastbourne, this was my first time at the Afton, but hope it isnt my last.
Paid very little and wasnt expecting very much, so was pleasantly surprised.
Room was a bit on the small side but more than adequate, however the staff were extremely helpful and I thought the breakfast was superb.
Paid £87 for a night in Eastbourne a couple of weekends ago and the Afton is far superior.
I will definitely stay here again.

Just returned from another great week end at the Afton Hotel. As part of a larger group, Jason and his team made us all welcome this weekend.
From the lovely people front of house who were always willing to help to the invisable angels that look after us in the background.

A hotel which offer a 5 star service and is Open to non-residents and makes you feel welcome from the minute you walk in it is a great place just to pop in and meet up with friends for a coffee and chat, lunch or to spend an evening or to join in the many functions that they offer

Resident or not, the welcome and service from the team at the Afton Hotel always great and makes you want to come back time and time again. Then when you meet owners Marco and Cathy you understand why. If you've not visited the hotel then you are definitely missing out.

This hotel deserves more than the AA 2 star rating it has. Rooms were scrupulously clean with maid servcie every day, The food was really well cooked with a good variety on offer.
The entertainment was good, and my friends and I spent a brilliant week at the Afton Hotel thanks to the good offices of manager Jason and his excellent staff. Would recommend this Hotel wholeheartedly to anyone looking for comfort and good food.

I went on a coach tour and stayed at the Afton Hotel with my husband for the New Year. The day I arrived it was my birthday. Unknown to me my husband had asked if they could announce my birthday but as I was at the evening meal the general manager came to our table and gave me a birthday card and a small gift from the hotel. The meals were good and always hot. The evening entertainment was good but could have been varied. They need to review the DJ the have for New Years Eve as he did not reallly get the music right. The room we had was large and clean only fault was it was a basement room. As my husband is disabled we found it a little difficult as we had to go down in a lift and then walk accross the dining room which was dark at times and had two steps for him to use. The staff and management were very friendly and helpful

Thank you to everybody for making the weekend such a success. The waiting staff worked so hard, the rooms were comfortable, clean and had everything that we wanted. Everybody was polite, cheerful and welcoming, the whole experience surpassed my expectations. Your website is so right when it claims ‘ the 2 star hotel with the 5 star service’ . So true.
