Young Drivers Safety - Motoring offences and points on your licence

... Comments

If you have just passed your first driving test, the New Drivers Act means you’re ‘on probation’ for two years. If you reach six or more penalty points in that time, you’ll lose your licence. Then, you’ll have to apply and pay for a new provisional licence. This means you’ll be a learner driver again!

If you’re convicted of a motoring offence, the courts can fine you and endorse your driving licence with penalty points. Endorsements must stay on your driving licence for four or eleven years depending on the offence.

For instance, driving without an MOT can get you a £1000 fine and invalidate your insurance. (6-8 points on your licence)
