This year will see many wonderful events and performances going on in Brighton & Hove.

As Autumn approaches (and with it the darker evenings) not only is it a brilliant season for classical music (which will no doubt cheer us up in the absence of sunshine), but there is also a great variety of other interesting performance based events and festivals to feast your senses on…please check out the article entitled ‘What are the best Autumn events in Brighton & Hove?’ to find out more about these.

If you’re a classical music fan Brighton Early Music Festival (BREMF) includes an exciting range of classical music performances and projects, with a strong focus on early music.

Founded in 2002 BREMF has enjoyed increased popularity over the years and has a varied and multi-disciplinary approach to its productions.

This year its works have been produced with an overarching theme of Nature and Science in mind – Galileo and John Dee are just a couple of figures that have influenced production for the festival, particularly with their interest in the relationships between music, mathematics and astrology.

The main festival will run from October to November, with a pre-festival taking place from mid-September. There’s something for anyone interested including a ‘Club Night’ aimed at under 30s, family concerts and a number of educational projects which reach out to different schools during the pre-festival.

If you’re interested in getting directly involved in the classical music scene, there are also a number of workshops that BREMF runs for singers of all abilities. Visit ‘ www.bremf.org.uk ’ for more information, the online programme and event booking.

Brighton’s Dome is also set to put on a great array of performances over the next few months, including performances by the Brighton and London Philharmonic orchestras, Nigel Kennedy, and those of a number of other solo, trio and quartet classical groups including Trio Isimsiz, a trio group formed in 2009.

Chamber music group, Strings Attached, have their first performance of the season on September 20th. Founded in 2010 Strings Attached promotes high quality chamber music on a voluntary basis.

Their programme, spanning over the rest of this year into March 2017 will include a number of exciting works by both solo and group artists.

They have a number of free tickets available to book in advance for 8 – 25 year olds and work with Brighton Early Music Festival and Brighton Dome & Festival. You can find details on their website ‘stringsattachedmusic.org.uk’.
