THIS WEEK IN BRIGHTON AND HOVE...

If you’re single and wish you weren't, the place to be on Saturday is the Brighton Marina Yacht Club, where there’s a Summer Singles Party. There will be a barbecue, bar and live music and the chance to mingle with lots of other single people. Who knows who you will meet there? It all kicks off at 3pm. For more info and tickets, visit https://southdownsintroductions.co.uk/singles-events/

There’s lots going on at Preston Manor over the next few days. On Friday, you can learn about what went on in the Victorian kitchen with a talk and demonstration. On Saturday and Sunday you can play Alice in Wonderland style croquet, with flamingos for mallets and playing cards for hoops. You can also do a tour of the house on Saturday afternoon, with a children’s trail to keep the small ones amused. More info and prices on http://brightonmuseums.org.uk/prestonmanor/news-events/

Bring a picnic and a blanket to the Brighton Open Air Theatre (B.O.A.T) on Sunday for a mini music festival. You’ll be able to enjoy music by the Sussex Jazz Orchestra, a 20-piece local big band. Joining them will be Trees, a new big band featuring a number of Brighton’s jazz musicians, making their debut performance. Doors open at 1pm and the concert ends at 4.30. It’s free, but there will be a collection for donations. http://www.brightonopenairtheatre.co.uk/what-s-on.html

Sunday is Rural Day & Scruffs at St Ann’s Well Gardens in Hove from noon to 6pm. There will be a puppet show, music, craft stalls, kids’ activities and loads of food from a hog roast to a retro ice cream van. The dogs take centre stage from 2-4pm and you can enter your pet for everything from “Most Waggy Tail” to Best in Show”. Find out more on http://brunswickfestival.org.uk/?page_id=6
