THIS WEEK IN BRIGHTON AND HOVE...

It’s PADDLE Round the Pier weekend! This iconic event is taking place on Hove Lawns (and Hove sea….) on Saturday and Sunday. There will be music, sandcastle competitions, a dog show, beach fitness, land paddling, food and loads more. The main event takes place on Sunday at 2pm when participants attempt to paddle round the old West pier on just about anything that floats. Find out more on  www.paddleroundthepier.com

Leave an on-line review for PADDLE (or another loved business or event) and you will be entered in a prize draw to win a FITBIT Wristband (worth £79) & other cool prizes. It will only take a few minutes and the odds of getting a prize at this point are approx 1 in 10! See Competition Details & Prizes in HERE.

Enjoy stand-up comedy on Friday night at the Brighton Open Air Theatre (B.O.A.T) when you’ll be able to see the likes of Tim Vine, Shane Richie and Jo Neary. On Saturday, the theatre plays host to Australian acrobats Head First, with both a matinee and evening performance. More on www.brightonopenairtheatre.co.uk

Celebrate American Independence Day – well, weekend – from Friday through to Sunday at the Stanmer House Beer Festival. You can enjoy music, a themed barbecue, real ale (of course) and fruity ciders. It’s a family event so there will be plenty for those too young to enjoy a beer. Read more about the event, which is free to enter, on  www.stanmerhouse.co.uk

If you love magic, Queen’s Park is the place to be on Saturday, with an outdoors production of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. With illusions designed by Paul Daniels, and the promise that the show involves a lot of water, it’s going to be a lively evening. Bring a picnic, cushions and, by the sounds of things, a towel.
