THIS WEEK IN BRIGHTON AND HOVE:

It’s the last weekend of the festival, so grab your chance to wander round the open houses, see some of the free shows and soak up the atmosphere. To help your favourite open house win an award, vote for them here https://www.thebestof.co.uk/local/brighton-and-hove/business-guide/feature/artists-open-houses-aoh-brighton-and-hove

There are plenty of free events this weekend including Every Picture Tells, an exhibition by photojournalist by Roger Bamber at Brighton Photography Gallery. Another free event, Fleeting, takes place between the piers on Sunday night as the light fades, is a visual experience to connect people with fire. Also look out for Carousel, on the Level at 9pm on Friday and Saturday. It’s a dance performed by the Southpaw Dance Company and is a visually spectacular, atmospheric tale of a fairground after dark.

Baby Disco Dance Hall, a disco for under fives and their parents, is taking place in the Spiegeltent on Saturday at 11am. It’s a great place to strut your moves on the dance floor, as pre-school children are too young to find their parents embarrassing. With DJ Monski Mouse spinning the records, there’s a soft baby area for those too young to dance. http://www.brightonspiegeltent.com/events/baby-disco-dance-hall/

Cheer on the exhausted participants of the London 2 Brighton Ultra Challenge which starts on Saturday. Participants will be walking, jogging or running (or a combination of all three) the 100km route. There are 56k and 44k options for wimps. Starting at Richmond on Thames, the race ends at Brighton Racecourse. See more on www.london2brightonchallenge.com

There’s a spring festival at St Ann’s Well Gardens in Hove on Saturday from 11am-7pm. There will be music, stalls, a cake making competition, craft activities, creative zone, archery, beer tent, tennis coaching, yoga, bouncy castle, and much much more.
