THIS WEEK IN BRIGHTON AND HOVE:

Head to Preston Barracks for a free performance of 451 on Saturday night. Based on Ray Bradbury’s novel Fahrenheit 451, the outdoor production combines immersive sound and sensory theatre and focuses on a society where books are banned and violence is rewarded. The performance contains lighting and strobe effects. See more on http://brightonfestival.org/event/5863/451/

There’s a Fringe Festival adaptation of Macbeth at the Rialto theatre until Saturday. Tickets to the production, billed as a ‘thrilling, blood-soaked romp of murder, betrayal and revenge’, are from £7-£8. Find out more and book on http://www.rialtotheatre.co.uk/whats-on/fringe-events/macbeth

You can see six bands in action at Hotel Pelirocco on Saturday as part of the Alternative Great Escape festival. The first session takes place from 3-5pm featuring Grasshopper, Lost Idol and AK/DK. Three more bands, Sea Dog, I Am Ampersand and Time for T will be playing from 8pm-11pm. Entry is free. Details on http://www.hotelpelirocco.co.uk/events/escape-to-hotel-pelirocco-1

Are you a hero or a villain? And are heroes or villains faster on their feet? Find out on Sunday in a 5k or 10k run starting at 10.40am by Hove Lawns café. The idea is that you choose which team you would like to run for, and dress up accordingly. On the day, join your team mates and race for the line – first team to run out of medals wins and there are prizes for the best costumes too. The races cost £18 -£20 to enter, and you’ll be asked to raise at least £20 in sponsorship too – all proceeds go to Pass It On Africa. Find out more on http://www.heroesrun.org.uk/
