From Friday evening, Brighton’s seafront will become an open air cinema for the next month when it screens a host of family favourites and other classics. The giant screen, close to Brighton Pier, will show three movies a day ranging from the Goonies to Paddington. The Chilli Pickle will be providing food at its pop-up restaurant close by. The green space at Brighton’s Waterhall will again host the city’s Shakedown festival this Saturday. Last year more than 200,000 music lovers listened to their favourite sounds at the event which is celebrating its fifth birthday. For ticket prices and more information see www.shakedown.co.uk
The Brighton Big Dog, an annual mountain biking event, returns to the muddy trails and tree-lined paths of Stanmer Park this weekend. This year’s event is being staged over two days starting on Saturday. One of its highlights is a six hour race which begins at noon.
