THIS WEEK IN BRIGHTON AND HOVE...
Head to Saltdean Lido for a movie this weekend, as The Duke of York's Picturehouse launches its pop-up outdoor season. There’s a barbecue, a bar and a big screen by the pool.
You can see Ghostbusters on Friday, Ferris Bueller's Day Off on Saturday and Gravity on Sunday. You’ll be able to catch more outdoor movies in Stanmer Park at the end of June, and in Preston Manor in early July and again at the end of August. See http://picturehouseblog.co.uk/2015/05/21/popupbrighton/ for more info and ticket details.
Queens Park dog show Bark in the Park is taking places on Sunday. There will be stalls from dog-related local businesses offering everything from pet photography to designer leads. Don’t worry, there’s plenty for humans too, with a bar, grill, cakes and more. There are plenty of competitions for your dog to enter, from waggiest tail and best sausage catcher, to pedigree contests. See www.fqpbrighton.net
Hove Park Races on Sunday are your chance to take part in friendly but competitive running races. There’s a variety of races from under 9s (800m) to 5k for the over 15s. You can enter on the day (so long as the races aren’t over-subscribed), with prices from £1 to £5. Find out more on http://arena80.co.uk/hove-park-races-2015/
If you’re out in town in the small hours of Sunday morning, look out for hundreds of ladies taking part in the Martlets Midnight Walk. They’ll be walking 6, 13 or 20 miles to raise money for the local hospice, so give them a cheer (and send the hospice some money). http://martletsmidnightwalk.co.uk/
