This week in Brighton and Hove includes the famous Pride (LGBT Community Parade) with thousands of revellers primed to have a good time in celebration of the diversity and live and let live tolerance that the city is famous for.

The perfect excuse to get out and about and enjoy the myriad of things to do over the coming week, some of our favourites listed here:

 

Friday 2nd August

Abba Fever – The Official Tribute - Live vocals, stunning musicianship, authentic costumes and exciting choreography all contribute to a spectacular show which gets audiences to their feet night after night! 7pm, £12.50 in advance – Concorde 2

Band of Skulls - Southampton’s finest home grown rockers, Band of Skulls, are performing in Brighton as a warm up gig for Standon Calling, 7:30pm, £15 – The Old Market

Saturday 3rd August

LGBT Community Parade (PRIDE 2013) - Gay Icons is the theme for 2013 placing emphasis on the vast array of Iconic LGBT figureheads, campaigners and popular celebrities that have shaped and advanced LGBT culture and the cause of equality throughout history. Racehill Community Orchard Activity Day - A new orchard nestled into the top of Racehill which is open for the community to join in and enjoy. All welcome to join in with practical tasks. 12:00pm till 6:00pm - Racehill Community Orchard

Sunday 4th August

Brighton Sand Sculpture Festival - From April 8th 2013, a new Sand Sculpture Festival will be held at Black Rock Brighton. Visitors can experience the wonder of this magical art and will also have the chance to get involved, £6 adults, £5 conc. £4 children, £15 family tickets – Black Rock

Punch & Judy Shows - Family fun with a traditional show plus join-in activity session, 12.30pm, 2pm & 3.30pm, £2 – Opposite the Fishing Museum

Musical Sundays at Borde Hill - Every Sunday in August visitors can come and enjoy an afternoon of breathtaking cello playing with Ensemble Reza’s cellists Pavlos Carvalho and Sarah Dubost-Hautefeu. Standard Admission Fees Apply, 2pm – Borde Hill Garden

Brighton School of Singing - Brighton School of Singing will be performing summery tunes on the terraces stage, 2:30pm, free – Rottingdean Terraces Stage

Monday 5th August

Into the Blue - An exploration of the colour blue, using objects drawn from Royal Pavilion and Museum collections. Aimed at 5-11 yrs, exploratory and discovery- led – Until Jan ’14 Hove Museum

Tuesday 6th August

Kids’ Summer Fun at Borde Hill Gardens - Includes activities such as arts and crafts, storytelling, giant garden games and seed planting, 10am-6pm, £5-£7

The Fat Controller - The Fat Controller will be causing a locomotion, when he alights at the park to take control of the efficient running of the Thomas & Friends™ railway. Standard admission prices and times – Drusillas

Wednesday 7th August
