As the Sunshine broke through the clouds on cue on late Saturday morning, the crowds form the Parade poured into Preston Park for the main Pride event festivities...

This year the 2011 festival, which culminated in the parade and party in Preston Park was the first in 19 years for which tickets were sold... it followed criticism of overcrowding, safety concerns and the amount of rubbish left after the 2010 event.

With the many tents, fairground, retail and food and drink stalls, there was much for everyone to do; and they did to great effect! Many commenting to me personally in my Pride Volunteering capacity how much they were enjoying the event and how well organised it was compared to previously.

From my viewpoint at the Member's enclosure entrance, I had a good view of the Live Stage with the variety of acts going down really well amongst the revelers, jigging and dancing away to the tunes. The headliners, Alexandra Burke and Joe Mcelderry put on particularly stirring sets that rocked the crowd to sunset..

Partying continued Pride style without abating on Saturday evening and late into Sunday at the Street Party in the St James area of Kemp Town...

All in all a chilled festival atmosphere, lots of smiley faces and people partying and having fun whilst showing their support for the LGBT community and celebrating the diversity and tolerance that makes up Brighton and Hove today.
