Highlight your garden with Outdoor lighting
There are essentially five main types of lighting for a garden :-
Feature lighting - Used to create additional interest by highlighting key features, such as specimen plants, statues, and trees. With this type of lighting it's easy to add depth and interest to a garden at night.
Ambience lighting - Its amazing how a garden can be transformed after dusk by the addition of a few well chosen lights.
Safety lighting - On steps, pathways and patio edges this type of lighting can be enhance your garden while creating a safer garden at night.
Security lighting - The most popular type of lighting. Using timers and sensors this lighting is a valuable addition to home security.
Floodlighting - Used generally to display houses and large trees, normally using heavy duty lighting to achieve the desired effects.
Lighting position
It's best to adopt a changeable solution, this involves laying enough cable so that the position of the lights can be moved and as the gardens plants mature.
Installation
Safety is the key consideration. Always use a circuit breaker or an electrical trip. If you are using 240-volt lighting, always use armour cable and take care as to the depth and position to avoid problems when using the fork or trimming the border. It is a good idea to get a qualified electrician to carry out the work for you.
