Big Brighton Ferris Wheel could boost tourism

A proposed new 60-metre ferris wheel on Brighton seafront could help bring  visitors to the city and would mean the local economy would benefit.

New proposals to build a big wheel are being reconsidered after being turned down earlier this year over concerns it would impact the proposed 180 metre-high i360 viewing tower nearby.

Now an alternative location has been found and a report being discussed on Tuesday (7 December 2010) recommending that the council, which owns the site, grants temporary permission for no more than five years – subject to a formal planning application.

Do we really want it? Will it be an eyesore. I suppose for 5 years as an experiment, it could be worthwhile
