Bank holiday weekends are always a delight, but are even more so when they fall on a late-summer weekend with the promise of decent weather. This can only mean one thing, bidding farewell to the season in the best way we know: with great music, fab food, lots of dancing and even more drinking. To make the most of all four days, we’ve hand-picked our selection of the best street-parties, festivals and nights out happening in the city over the long weekend: 
 

Friday 28th
 

1) The Soul Survivors Famous Soul & Motown Night

Time:  9:00pm - 2:00am

Location: Coral Greyhound Stadium, Hove

Entry Price: Members = 2 for £7, Non-members = 2 for £6

Tell Me More: As ever nothing but non-stop Soul Action set in two rooms. Super sounds, super atmosphere. Free car parking.

2) Berlin

Time: 11:00pm - 4:00am

Location: The Green Door Store, Brighton

Entry Price: Free

Tell Me More: What started as an exciting Underground project in a rainy November last year is now one of Brighton's most popular Deep House/Techno club nights. Ze Germans are here.

3) Sweet and Dandy

Time: 10:00pm - 3:00am

Location: Riki Tik Beach Bar, Brighton

Tell Me More: Expect a top rankin' selection of Reggae & Dancehall music from the last five decades, from foundation sounds to up to the time One Drop, New Roots, Dancehall and Bashment!

4) Fickle DJs

Time: 9:00pm - 1:00am

Location: Freemasons, Hove

Tell Me More: Fickle Dj’s bring you their unique blend of upfront disco, house and electro behind the glow of their signature fairy lights. These guys know how to have fun with their set so be ready for some impromptu table dancing!
 

Saturday 29th


1) BBQ Beats

Time: 8:00pm - 1:00am

Location: The Worlds End, Brighton

Entry Price: Free

Tell Me More: Come join in the bank holiday festivities at BBQ Beats! A night of funk, reggae, soul and frock (funky rock) with plenty of finger-licking food to accompany the music.

2) Motorcity

Time: 11:00pm - 3:00am

Location: Komedia, Brighton

Entry Price: £5

Tell Me More:  A refreshing but classic mix across all the Motown, soul, Northern, funk and disco greats! Everyone is welcome to get on down to the likes of James Brown, Otis Redding Redding and the magic of Motown with a sprinkling of Northern Soul floorshakers, and some of the great disco club classics.

3) Rough Chowder 

Time: 8:30pm - 10:00pm

Location: Ropetackle Arts Centre, Shoreham-By-Sea

Entry Price: £8

Tell Me More: ‘Cajun On The Coast’ present an evening of Cajun music and dancing with Rough Chowder, including a pre-show dance workshop and Cajun food to complete that South Louisiana experience.

4) This Feeling

Time: 9:30pm - 2:00am

Location: The Hope and Ruin, Brighton

Sunday 30th


1) Ancient Mariner Street Party

2) Fuzz For Freaks

3) Fiddler’s 5th Annual Folk & Cider Festival

Time: 8:00pm - 3:00am

Location: Fiddler’s Elbow, Brighton

4) Sunday Best

Tell Me More: Each week, Sidewinder gives the most dapper gent or elegant lady a free roast when they show up in their Sunday best, so it pays to look well. Plus for those in recovery from the night before, they've got their 'Build Your Own' Bloody Mary bar at the ready.
 

Monday 31st


1) Heard It Through The Grapevine

Tell Me More: Mondays, no one likes them… even when it’s a bank holiday. So why not beat the monday going-back-to-work-tomorrow blues with your friends at the Duke and grab a drink to the sounds of Marvin Gaye, Four Tops & Jackie Wilson and more.

2) Flash Mob Jazz

Time: 9:00pm - 1:00am

Location: The Mesmerist, Brighton

3) The Worlds End Cider Festival

4) The Ultimate Game Show Pub Quiz
