There was an issue with the booking, no fault of theirs but Semoyal was splendid about it and turned the whole thing into a positive, I can't praise him highly enough. The room was lovely, excellent bed, pillows and bathroom, it even had a Nespresso machine. The spa exceeded expectations and we really enjoyed the sauna, steam, swimming, jacuzzi, and fluffy towels. The staff, without exception, were great, and very much entered into the spirit of All Hallows Eve. Both dinner and breakfast were very good - fairly straightforward cookery with good base ingredients, especially at breakfast where the sausages and bacon were better than is usual at some hotel chains. Lots of parking too. We had a grand time.

Just had a couple of nights at Mercure Blackburn Dunkenhalgh Hotel & Spa
We had the most amazing time.Literally every member of staff you passed or had direct contact with in the public areas, corridors, bars and restaurant spoke to us in a happy and welcoming manner. It was a wonderful atmosphere. We felt so relaxed and looked after. We were upgraded to the executive wing and the room was gorgeous.Yes it is an older property and there are a few little niggles but we will without a doubt be staying here again. The meals on both nights in the restaurant were delicious, and the self service breakfast was hot and tasty.Try this hotel you won’t be disappointed.x

Stayed in the hotel for four days at the end of October. Really good location and a nice welcome on arrival, which was a great start to my stay. Room was spacious, high cleaning standards, warm and quiet. Highlight of my stay was the team in bar/restaurant. Breakfast was great with plenty of options and the waiting staff were always very friendly (Joseph extremely helpful). Great atmosphere in the restaurant and the team were happy to assist with any enquires on the menu, great food! I would definitely book here for my next trip in the area.

From front of house, housekeeping, restaurant and spa, the staff were super helpful, genuinely friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay the best it could be. Clean, comfortable rooms, amazing personable service in the restaurant with excellent tasty food and choices. The spa is well kept, has everything you need and treatments, of which I had 3, were of a high standard. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. Reasonably priced. All were amazing, but a special thanks to Joseph (duty manager), Shailesh (restaurant) and Sam (spa). We thoroughly relaxed and rejuvenated on our 3 night stay and this was only made possible by the professionalism and genuine concern and kindness of the whole team. We were so happy with our peaceful retreat, that we will definitely be returning.

Myself and my wife stayed here for the IRTE annual dinner, and there was a stand out member of staff called Joe who was great behind the bar in the evening and very courteous and friendly during breakfast.

Having had a group booking in September met up with friends unable to attend at the time due to illness. Decided to eat at the hotel despite reservations concerning past experience. The good was very good and ghe service exceptional especially from Sar.13 who went out of her way to look after us efficiently and with good humour. Very pleasantly surprised all round.

From the moment we were checked in by Amy we knew we were in for a treat! Hotel, grounds & room lovely. My daughter and I were greeted at the Spa by Elisha & Anne, welcomed with a very large afternoon tea, shown all the facilities the Spa & Leisure club had to offer. We had some
Pool & thermal suite time before our 2 x 50 mins full body massage by Ella, who went through everything and explained all the oils and their different benefits. It was divine.
We dined in the bar as the restaurant couldn’t accommodate us, the food was lovely & tasty, served quickly.
We found the Dunk clean, welcoming & the staff extremely friendly and very helpful.
I’d highly recommend!

My husband was attending an evening event so I accompanied him to enjoy the overnight hotel break.
I couldn't have been happier with our spacious Hotel Room & all its facilities. The swimming pool was excellent and the sauna was just wonderful.
I had the Chicken curry from the Restaurant menu sitting in the bar and it was yummy.
Breakfast had an array of choice and were happy to make poached eggs to order.
All the staff were very helpful and extremely courteous.
Well done everyone

Decided on a last minute night away. Got a great room, nice 3 course meal, complimentary drink, enjoyable breakfast buffet. Also loved the pol and spa facilities (apart from the frosty lady who checked us out - the one who checked us in was very friendly though). Thanks!

The hotel and grounds are very nice and relaxing , the executive rooms were very spacious and clean, however the bathroom needs some attention.

The spa lets the place down , needs some TLC and some cleaners , in fact the hotel could do with some cleaning throughout , my partner said the showers in the female changing rooms were clogged with hair almost wig like .

Flawless. The hotel staff were dynamic to help make our event seamless. The conference hall was set up professionally with the breakout rooms also set up to our requirements. Lunch service saw delicious food served to 175 delegates in 20 minutes. I would recommend this hotel for a conference, and any delegates staying overnight will find excellent cleanliness and first class customer service

A really enjoyable 2 night break on a deal too good to refuse. Our room was big, clean and spacious, also well equipped with a Nespresso coffee machine and a fridge which we actually didn't use. The telly was huge and there was a copious amount of cupboard and wardrobe space which we sparsely filled! The towels were big and fluffy and we so regretted not bringing our bathers for free use of the swimming pool. The hotel was very near the motorway exit and easy to find with a big car park. All staff were extra friendly and helpful and breakfast tasty with a good range of items. We had a lovely break exploring an area we hardly knew.

Me and my girlfriend recently visited this hotel and spa for a 2 night stay and the only word that comes to mind is average.

When we arrived on 23rd September we checked in and the lady at the reception was really nice to be fair checked us in quick and easy and pointed us to our room aswell as booking us in that night into the cameo restaurant.

The rooms were amazing, clean and modern just what we expected and the bathroom was huge which was amazing! The room, the hotel itself and the grounds were stunning that's not where the word "average" comes in

That night we went down to the cameo restaurant, on the way we had to manoeuvre our way through a very busy wedding party that was abit strange because pur room was located in a way that we had to walk through the wedding to get to the restaurant/bar area. During our meal I ordered the steak and ale pie and my girlfriend the curry which I can only say was under par big time and the pricing ridiculous for what we received. We waited atleast 45 mins for our food to arrive and when it did we was too impressed especially me considering the pie on the menu was described as "chef recommended" or something on them lines. Resulting in us eating out the next night.

The breakfast the day after we felt was the best part, huge variety and cooked perfectly.

The other worrying side was during the afternoon me and my girlfriend decided to give the food another go in the bar area do we both orderd a portion on the tomatoe and basil soup. Not realising that it would take 1 hour arrive!!!! So after asking the bar staff "have they forgotten about us" and he replied "he's doing it now" which I then said "it's been an hour wait for soup" which he reiled "they apologise" didn't really seem to cut it for me. The soup arrived and hour and ten minutes later which from taste and appearance was simply marinara sauce that's used to put on spaghetti (photo attached). Definitely wouldn't recomend the food at all.

After that negativity I'd like to bring some positivity in the review, unsure of her name but the lady behind the bar that made my pregnant girlfriend a mocktail, you were amazing from recommending certain whiskey to me to making my girlfriend a drink she really enjoyed. We really appreciate putting a happy side on this not so good food.

In an overall nutshell would not come back to this hotel at any costs.

Hotel itself: 8/10
Staff service: 7/10
Food: 3/10
Wait time for food: 2/10

bought the dinner B and B deal from travel zoo and was not disappointed, upgraded to a privilege room on arrival, room was spotless and massive (not expected) and all things provided inc. mini bar, had drinks in the bar and then to dinner, menu was small but expected due to the deal we got but the food was excellent, breakfast the next day was also excellent and could not be faulted, I have to say the service and the staff were a credit to the hotel and couldn't do enough for you and as it was our anniversary a nice free glass of champagne was a lovely touch, will definitely be coming back.

Booked Travelzoo deal, and having stayed here several times before was confident in the knowledge that it would be good, but not as good as it turned out to be.
Check-in very friendly. The refurbished Superior room was spacious room and bathroom, clean, robes & slippers, Nespresso coffee machine, biscuits, fridge. Very good. Superbly comfortable king size bed.
Onto the restaurant, both evenings we chose the fish of the day, bream, then bass, both cooked to perfection, moist flesh with a crispy skin. Varied vegetables equally perfect. Breakfast choice was excellent with food replenished quickly. Missed mushrooms though.
As for the staff Sara in the restaurant was very professional in dealing with a very awkward customer, and her service elsewhere was courteous, professional, and friendly. Also have to mention Timmy who was very friendly, helpful too with a grin all the time.
Enjoyable 10/15 walk into Rishton, and along the Hyndburn canal, over the motorway towards Church, and back.
Superb break.

We travelled from Liverpool for a night away, as we were child free for some us time on arrival ,all looked ok and smooth check in. We went to room 505 Executive room and in our walk there the corridor was a little tired . Our room was Very spacious, bed was very hard and made my hips hurt and mould in the shower also the shower head was knackered. The evening 3 course meal was lovely also the breakfast was nice also, although our coffee they served was cold!!. Bar area was nice just missing some background music. Drinks we bought a double vodka and double Makers Mark and came to 19.90 🙄. We enjoyed our stay but wanted to write a review of how we found it. ..Mr & Mrs Williams

We enjoyed a one night stay in the Prestige rooms with our daughter and son in law. The highlight of our stay was a wonderful dinner at the restaurant. Our waiter Shailesh was very attentive, he went the extra mile to make sure our meal was special. He explained the menu and which options we could have as we have a halal diet, which was very much appreciated. Shailesh is a credit to the team! The quality and presentation of the food was excellent also. We would definitely return!

We recently held our annual sales conference here and it was outstanding. We had circa 110 people attending the event and literally every person was raving about the venue (and we're a hard to please bunch!)
The bedrooms were excellent - large and spotlessly clean. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner across the 2 days with one of the dinners a gala dinner. The food was unbelievably good - considering it was for so many people, there was a large choice and it was cooked to perfection. Throughout the day there were numerous members of staff on hand to help us - they couldn't do enough to help us and were super friendly and efficient. Special shout out to Lisa who was my main contact over the 2 days and made sure everything went without a hitch. Finally - the people who work here look genuinely happy at their work. It's been a tough old few years in the hospitality industry and it's so good to see hotels getting back to normal and people that are enjoying their work and therefore happy to help in any way they can.

Spent two nights at the hotel 02/09/22 & 03/09/22. We were located in the Pendle Wing and room was very comfortable. What made it all the more exciting was the Ipswich Town team bus arrived just as we were heading out to dinner (they were playing Accrington the following day). The breakfast was excellent quality and catered for all tastes. After the football we made use of the swimming pool and spa which were very enjoyable. We had a bar meal in the evening and Sara B couldn’t have been more helpful in accommodating our wishes. She is to be commended for ensuring our order was satisfied by the chef. Breakfast again on the final day was excellent and Josh was a very helpful member of staff who deserves recognition. All in all a great stay.

Like everyone else I was in two minds to book this hotel due to negative reviews and pics of bad towels dirty beds and messy bathrooms and poor service...

however on arrival check in was quick and simple, car parking for guests is free you just need to register on the tablet in the reception area.. towels were literally brand new, soaps were decent quality , mattress and pillows were comfortable. One thing to note we didn't have any water bottles in the room but we had tea coffee and biscuits.. wasn't a deal breaker

Aziz in breakfast area was very helpful and friendly and always went out his way, understandably breakfast was extremely busy on bank holiday but the staff did their best and always had smiles on their faces.

Anne in the gym/Spa area was a good laugh. Gym was very nice had adequate equipment machines and dumbells and I loved the layout was quite unique.

Yes I would visit again!

Lovely hotel building with lots of original features. Staff were all so helpful and friendly. We were checked in straight away by the lovely ladies on reception. Our room was modern and spacious, although there is no air con so I can imagine it can get quite hot during peak summer.
The restaurant staff were very helpful and made sure we were served our evening meal in time for a taxi we had booked. We had dinner included, so three courses from the a la carte menu. There was plenty of choice and the food quality was really good. The same goes for breakfast too.
Finally, the ladies in the spa gave us fantastic massages - I’d definitely recommend a visit.

Booked a 2 night dinner, bed & breakfast package whilst touring the north-west/Lancashire.

Lovely clean and spacious room with all the amenities we required (tea, coffee, water, complimentary toiletries etc...).

At check-in we were given a printed sheet which explained the gym and pool opening times (spa currently closed but due to reopen shortly), breakfast and dinner arrangements in the Cameo restaurant and detailed the inclusive allowance (£22 at time of review) that could be used with the main evening/dinner menu.

Gym facilities were well equipped, with separate weights rooms alongside the main gym area (multiple rowing, running & cycling machines along with upper and lower body strength benches). Lovely pool area with ample beds to sit and relax after a swim or use of the jacuzzi. There was no water dispenser in the gym area, however chilled water was freely available in the spa reception area.

Pleasantly surprised that the restaurant offered a special DB&B inclusive £22 3-course menu for dinner (with a choice of items from the main menu - 3 or 4 items from for starters/mains and desserts such as salt & pepper squid, chicken wings, soup, fish of the day, steak & ale pie, fish & chips, sticky toffee pudding, cheesecake, ice cream/sorbets ). Food was delicious and the team of Joseph S, Grace, Rebekah and Carla looked after us very well.

Breakfast was also enjoyable with plenty of choice from a continental buffet/full English hot menu. Items were replaced regularly so that only a small amount of each choice is out on the serving areas at anyone time.
