Went there for our anniversary and it was amazing. The staff were so lovely and treated us so well. They really went the extra mile to make us feel special. The spa is very relaxing and easy going. We had a 3 course meal at the restaurant which was very nice. Beef brisket was sooo tender🤤Again the waiting staff were so kind and made us feel relaxed. The upgraded room was very spacious and had exactly what we needed. Bed was big and comfy and the bathroom looked quite modern. Would definitely go back again😁

Where to begin, well lets start with the room. My Wife and I had an Executive room which was extremely clean and well appointed so no complaints there(well maybe a tiny one its a trek from receptionšŸ¤·šŸ»ā˜ŗļø). We had booked b&b and evening meal which turned out to be a 3 course meal, what a great choice that was. The menu was small varied and really nice. Breakfast was good as well with a decent choice. However all of the Above is window dressing for what in my opinion makes this hotel stand out from the rest. I hope the Senior Leadership Team reads what I am about to write. Over the years My Wife and I have stayed in many many many Hotels but we have NEVER met more eager to please friendly Staff. From the Housekeeping, to the Waitresses, from the Bar Staff to the Restaurant Supervisors, to the Amazing Staff on Reception. They are a huge Credit to the Hotel and the Mecure group in general. If I was going to open a large Hotel I would want to take them all with me. Never Change

Just had to write a quick review about the staff more than anything else after our stay here the last few days, they were absolutely amazing, so welcoming from the reception staff, cleaning staff to the staff in the restaurant and spa. They simply went above and beyond, which was gratefully received after our friend was stuck in an accident which eventually left her unable to join us.
The rooms were quiet, comfortable beds, spacious and clean and the evening meal was lovely, it was just a shame they had run out of my starter and main choice but we had the latest sitting so it was understandable. We were offered a complementary dessert or drink to compensate which was a lovely gesture, and the waitresses were so lovely. The spa treatments we received were lovely by friendly staff and I would absolutely recommend a stay here to anyone. Potentially our trip could have been ruined by the fact the birthday girl couldn't get there, but the staff really helped us enjoy our stay considering the circumstances. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Really great welcome and attentive service from Chris in the bar. Very helpful, friendly guy, who made sure we were being looked after. Dressed our prosecco glasses with fresh strawberries just to add that extra touch.

Stayed for my husbands birthday, we were very impressed with this hotel, lovely touches in the room, free soft drinks in the mini bar which we've never had before at other hotels! The spa was fab although 'jacuzzi' was the same temperature as the pool so didn't stay in it for long. Would have been nice to see a breakfast and dinner menu in the room, however it was a little off putting to hear that if we don't book breakfast the night before we will be charged £5 extra each in the morning, we stayed at this hotel to enjoy a 5 course meal in the evening at Northcote so we couldn't be sure if we would want a cooked breakfast the next day. Also found it a little odd that the hotel will not know what's going to be on the 'specials' for the restaurant menu in the evening as the chef doesn't tell anyone till 5:30pm, we overheard a party of 5 also find this bizarre and they decided they would eat elsewhere. It would also be nice to do late bar snacks, we got back from our meal and wanted to share a portion of fries but the restaurant shut at 9pm. A really disappointing aspect of our stay was from the taxi company you provide on a free phone at reception. For a 10 minute journey we were charged an expensive rate of £15, and on the way back it was £20! This taxi company does not have metres and seems they are able to charge what they feel like.

We like coming here as a family. There's a nice pool, the surroundings are nice and quiet without being isolated and some of the deals available via the Mercure club are really pretty good. Now, we all understand that it's hard to get staff, it's hard to keep them and that margins are low in hospitality, but it's heartening to come here and every time we do, at least one of not more member of staff goes a little bit above and beyond what's expected to make us want to come back. This weekend's super hero is Jenny who has looked after us all royally over dinner, made sure the kids got everything they needed so as to help the grown ups relax. Hats off guys xxx

The standard of service from first booking was first class thanks to a lady called Sarah Jefferson. Our room was perfect, spotless (thanks to Kate) and very quiet. All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast had everything you could wish for and more. The evening menu was limited but the food was cooked to Masterchef standard. The staff in the restaurant were so attentive. A special thanks must be given to the restaurant manager Krishna and a wonderful waitress called Olivia who took care of our every need. We only wish that we could have stayed longer. Thank you again to everyone who made our stay both special and memorable.

I don't normally write reviews, but here I felt like I had to. I am here at a business conference and seemingly the only Orthodox Jew here. Being a practicing Jew I have dietary restrictions which can be quiet daunting to someone that is not familiar. I can't even begin to sing the praises of the staff and how much they have gone out of their way to accommodate me. They went above and beyond including.

Purchasing new dishware for me. I was perfectly OK with plastic ware but they insisted in treating me like everyone else. When it came to the breaks I was OK with not having much. I was greeted by the staff with a variety of snacks to make sure I was well fed and happy. At every meal as soon as the staff saw me they made sure to have my food hot, fresh and ready for me to to enjoy.

I am writing this review on my first day here and I am utterly blown away. I would highly recommend this facility where you want over the top service and care.

We would like to thank all of the team who look after us so well!
Aziz and the breakfast crew, Chris (lunch/dinner) and Sarah who never gets flustered and stays cool no matter how busy the bar and restaurant get.
Thank you and we will see you at our next stay!

We had a family meal at the Dunkenhalgh, in the portrait room (private dining) for my sister’s 60th birthday in May. We were highly delighted by the whole experience and my sister had a wonderful time. We received a very friendly and warm welcome by the reception staff, who had taken the trouble to wish my sister a happy birthday on their computerised welcoming board. The room was perfect for our requirements and had been set out exactly as requested, the service we received from the staff waiting on during our meal was absolutely exceptional, and the food was delicious. Thank you to the team of workers who made my sister’s day so special and for giving the entire family a beautiful day to remember.

Just back from an overnight stay which started out wonderfully but quickly went down hill. Arrival great reception staff fabulous polite friendly. Room upgrade fabulous, room lovely great view from window unfortunately to get to the room had to walk through a private function bit strange felt like we were intruding. The bar was ok glasses not polished water marks just looked dirty. Restaurant great staff really polite, food shocking sent my steak back twice, really poor cut of meat and at the price of Ā£28 I expected so much more. Tasteless , tough. Staff dealt with my complaint well though can’t fault that. Breakfast was greeted by a miserable member of staff who did not smile rudely said ā€œroom number ā€œ and that was that she walked off we assumed we had to follow her she then pointed at a table and walked off and that was that no information about how breakfast was served , where anything was etc. Breakfast Luke warm, scrambled swimming in water texture of mush. Bacon grim swimming in grease, sausages cooked properly, tomatoes raw hard cold , hash browns soggy beans were ok though. Coffee good but only one machine worked.
Such a shame as the hotel has so much potential.

Beautiful hotel & excellent service provided. The facilities are to a very good standard. Ideal for a wedding venue. There’s a spa and swimming pool. The hotel is clean and the grounds are well maintained.

Olivia was absolutely amazing! Funny and wonderful service! She made sure we were happy and had everything we needed. She also makes a great cocktail which I would definitely recommend 10/10! She deserves a pay rise!!

I stayed at Mercure Dunkenhalgh Hotel and Spa with three friends for a girly weekend and mums night away.

We opted for early check in which I would recommend to make use of the beautiful spa facilitates and enjoy lunch from the restaurant. We were greeted by Aziz as soon as we arrived. Aziz from so lovely and welcoming. He accommodated our request and helped us carry bags to our room. He went above and beyond during our stay.
The spa was lovely with plenty seats around the pool and a lovely outdoor area for drinks and food in the sun.
The room was beautiful. It had 2 double beds, was clean and spacious.
Aziz greeted us again at breakfast with his smiley, happy personality.
Thank you for a lovely stay.

We had a great deal for £149 DBB in an executive room. We were greeted very warmly and it was a nice start. The hotel is quite big and our room a fair way from reception but we appreciated the view of field and trees from our window.

Large room and comfy bed, tea and coffee in cupboard. I used the swimming pool which is very nice and lovely and warm.

Because we were on the dinner included rate we ate in the hotel. Found the menu disappointing, fish and chips, pie and mash, burger and chips etc. Pretty much standard food which was uninspiring but was ok.

The staff once again were exceptional, friendly and pleasant and the dining room is a nice space.

The breakfast was surprisingly good, lots of selection with plenty of fresh fruit cooked meats and a well stocked buffet of cooked items.

We probably would stay again at such a great price and would accept the limitations of the dinner menu. All in all we had a relaxing an enjoyable stay at a very friendly and interesting hotel.

All the staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room was very spacious and the room we had was extremely hot and couldn’t open the windows or operate the air conditioning but as soon as we reported the problem it was all sorted straight away, however the air conditioning was very poor and we still had to use fans that were already in the room, but having said this we were offered a room change but we did decline.
The bathroom could do with some tlc, no toilet roll holder, no toilet brush and the shower door was hard to close.
We did enjoy the swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna.
Breakfast was a good choice and plentiful, however dinner was not so good, in my opinion the starters were not very good, we had whitebait was disappointing for the cost, the mushrooms and the chicken wings was also disappointing for the cost, the fish and chips was good, the chicken schnitzel was dry and small and my ribs, don’t know where to start, they looked anemic, no sauce, the onion rings, all I could taste was beer, the teaspoon of coleslaw was warm and over mayonnaised and this cost Ā£17.50 and you never had chips with that, they was an extra at a cost of Ā£5.50, hence the second night we went out for dinner.

Myself and my mum booked a nights spa stay with 3 course dinner. The hotel is lovely, the spa is really nice and relaxing and the food was great but what made the stay was the staff. The staff at this hotel are absolutely amazing! A special mention for Aziz who is a gem, he could not do enough for us. When he found out it was my birthday he went above and beyond to make our stay special! Thankyou for all the little extra's! We will definitely be going back!

We were here with leons coach tours .greeted on arrival by a very pleasant man very smart .off to our room. Staff were on hand to help find our rooms which was great this place is like a rabbit Warren
Our room was very nice double aspect with views over the courtyard and fields the room was clean until we saw behind the very large TV it was absolutely filthy .and had been like that for ages ! Then went into the bathroom it was clean but does need an upgrade then later went to put something in the bin was shocked it was full of tea bags and cigarette ends and smelt awful reported and it was dealt with .breakfast was excellent the evening meals were OK but the service was awful two hours one night for three courses
We did use the pool the staff on the particular day were not very pleasant as I took my key card and not the paper letter !!!! It does say say take the the paper card so much confusion but not dealt with in a very nice manner !!! The pool is lovely water is warm and we had a great swim .all in all we had a lovely stay but these few niggles were a disappointment.

My wife and I have spent time here on numerous occasions in the past and every time it has been a pleasant stay. This weekend was no different. However that was only made possible by the professional help given to us by Shannon. Unfortunately we had to change rooms twice because of faults that couldn’t have been foreseen by the hotel. But Shannon took it all in her stride and arranged everything to make the changes seamless. We will definitely be back.

We booked through secret escapes b&b and 3 course evening meal . It was all very good and I would recommend it to anyone. The car park was free at the time of our stay but there is normally a £10 per night charge

We booked a spa break and overnight stay for our anniversary.
The service we received from the moment we stepped in and throughout our stay was honestly excellent. The staff were all so attentive and so kind. Special shout out to Anne and her colleagues in the spa area they were all amazing and made us feel so comfortable. As a British-Indian (Muslim) couple it can sometimes be a little daunting when visiting places like this however we felt so comfortable and the service we received was just lovely throughout. The staff went out their way to make sure everything was perfect for us. The treatments were Amazing and the therapists we had were lovely and also provided the best service.
Afternoon tea was yummy.
Only one thing I would say that the changing areas and the pool area needs renovating and a little TLC it has a worn out feel. Definitely in need of some modernisation.
The hotel was beautiful inside with a rustic and victorian feel. I booked a Privilege room and that was spacious and very comfortable. Dining areas were decorated beautifully and the breakfast was delicious with lots of variety. Just missed some vegetarian or vegan sausages.
Some areas of the hotel look a little worn and need some attention but besides that it was all perfect for us and we enjoyed every moment.
We will definitely be visiting again.

Last minute Saturday night stay on a bank holiday weekend. SatNav doesn't take you to the hotel, need to have directions. Impressive building with many rooms; really busy and a queue when check in commenced at 3pm.

Friendly staff throughout, Semoyal gave me his card so gets a name check, always had a smile for us. We booked an executive room and it was spacious and spotlessly clean. Big screen TV and the bed was two large singles together.

We used the wine bar, very nicely furnished area.

Pool was massively busy as we expected so we used the spa early on Sunday. Opened at 7.30 and the medium sized pool was full with four people doing lengths. Sauna and steam room doors were open, not sure why, but the sauna soon heated up.

Breakfast was extensive and good to see freshly chopped fruit.

Definitely stay here again.
