Staff were excellent and check in was a breeze even late at night. Room was modern, spacious and had all the usual amenities and furniture. Very comfy bed and clean room. Spa was great in the morning and I almost had it to myself pool is small but big enough. Saunas and steam rooms are great.

We stayed at the Mercure Blackburn Dunkenhalgh Hotel & Spa over the bank holiday weekend and had an absolutely amazing time. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel so welcome – everyone was genuinely friendly and helpful, which really set the tone for a relaxing stay.

The hotel itself is stunning, full of character and charm, and the food was honestly to die for. Every meal we had was delicious – beautifully cooked and full of flavour. It really added that extra touch of luxury to our stay.

The spa facilities were lovely and made for a perfect bit of indulgence. The only minor hiccup we experienced was around the spa package – we were told on two separate occasions that our booking didn’t include robes, when in fact it did. Thankfully, the team were able to confirm this with the hotel quickly (only took five minutes), so it wasn’t a big deal, just something that could be improved with a bit better communication between departments.

All in all, we had a brilliant time and wouldn’t hesitate to return. A great place for a relaxing getaway – highly recommended!

Very comfortable family room, recently refurbished. Comfortable beds. Bathroom with shower and bath.

Welcoming helpful staff in reception, bar/lounge and housekeeping.

Excellent meal in Bar/Lounge. Served on hot plates - always a plus.

Room and meal represented good value for money.

Would definitley recommend and stay again.

Only minor draw back long walk from reception and other facilities to family rooms but baggage carts available.

Stayed overnight for work, check in was smooth and easy everything explained and directions given. Room got upgraded to executive which was really spacious with everything needed for an overnight stay. Blackout curtains and comfortable bed. Used the Pool again sufficient size for some lengths, Breakfast offered plenty of choice to cover everybodies diet preferences

Easy to find traveling from the north, nice check in and lovely room .
Bar was very expensive and food not cheap either. Henry behind the bar wasn't very clean , his shirt was ripped under his arm and stains on the front not good when serving food and drink .
Food was being delivered from the kitchen and no one was sure who had ordered, was a bit like faulty towers , staff running around with trays of food .
Breakfast was a bit disappointing aswell, for the price it wasn't that good , only 5 warm items for full English and continental wasn't much better only offering around 3 to 4 items . Staff on Breakfast were very nice and chamber maids nice , overall was a nice stay but a bit over priced for what you get .

Reception staff member was absolutely lovely upon arrival, the building is fabulous too. And free parking!

However, the windows in our courtyard room were so drafty even when closed a cold breeze came in all night, but more importantly the bathroom door handle is faulty and I was locked in the bathroom!! I understand these things happen but it took over 20 minutes for someone to arrived with a screwdriver.. it was really stressful. The rooms are lovely but definitely need some maintenance.

The spa treatment a facial and back massage was absolutely amazing, so calming and really helped me with my stress. Had the lovely Annika who was so so sweet and bubbly, and recommended the products that could help me out with my skin, thank you for an amazing experience x

We enjoyed our short stay at the hotel. Though certainly an old building, it felt to be steeped in history and had many features that made it look grand and stately.
The room was comfortable - furniture in keeping with the age of the building - was good enough to sleep in. Decent food and breakfasts

Big shout out for Liam at the Bar - super helpful and friendly to all the people he served! - He typified the cheerfulness of the staff we encountered and I would recommend a stay there. Value for money

On our arrival the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, which they all were throughout our stay. Our room was an disabled accessible one and very comfortable. The breakfasts were excellent, we only had one evening meal in the hotel but it was superb my wife had a sirloin steak which she said was veryvery good and I had a pea rissotto we was excellent. for dessert we had creme brulee which also excellent. The only complaint we had was it was difficult to navigate through some of the doors with a wheelchair.

Lovely hotel with loads of character. Room was spacious and clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fine, but nothing special - not much better than a Premier Inn, and the corridors really could do with a lick of paint - they look like they were last decorated in the ‘80s. And why charge for using the pool - I’ve stayed in numerous hotels with pools over the years and this is the first one which levied a charge? Fortunately we were staying for a few days and could make good use of it (it costs the same however many times you go).

And yes, if mobility is an issue, make sure you get a room near reception - ours was a significant distance away down seemingly endless corridors.

Brilliant hotel, no complaints whatsoever… although a map on arrival would have been handy as it’s like a maze!

Room was lovely, beds comfy and generally nice and clean, pool with my daughter was canny but designated times for children. Breakfast nice too and staff were all very pleasant

Its a lovely old Grade II listed building set in its own grounds and so very popular for parties and weddings.
We have been going for many years and the service is very good. The staff turnover is low which makes us feel more welcome as we see the same faces. The new chef has made a huge difference to the dining experience, with locally sourced produce - very good quality and we absolutely loved the Steak Ciabatta for lunch.
Thank you for looking after us so well!

Lovely comfortable bed and great bathroom. Receptionist was very helpful as was the chambermaid who gave us extra tea etc. when we ran out.
This is an old manor house needing renovation in places but still charming. The grounds are extensive and beautifully kept. Hubby enjoyed the spa facilities.Would definitely stay again.

The deive upto the hotel is lovely....the building is beautiful with many original features

Staff are well presented and helpful

We had a double room in the courtyard....nice size and airy , however it's pretty noisy from 6am with staff arriving or leaving via the rear driveway behind the rooms.. the wheely bins are also close and can hear smashing of bottles etc.

Our room had a cupboard door hanging off, cobwebs everywhere and over the door frames.
Bathroom sink was also loose and if you lent on it it came away from the wall.
Shower was huge albeit not very powerful

Bed was comfy as were the pillow's, we had a good couple nights sleep..

Breakfast.....was expecting better from such a nice hotel but the products weren't good quality, the sausages were cheap ,beans tasteless and bacon incredibly salty
Can request eggs done how you like but no mushrooms or plum tomatoes ( which is the norm up north)
There was fruit and a few pastries , yoghurt but a big bowl which everyone dipped in

We has 3 course meals included with our stay which was lovely and tasty, albeit a little odd some of the dishes , who has mash with salmon ???
Didn't use the spa but wouldn't hesitate to stay again and use the spa.
Treatments are expensive but cheaper if booked as a spa day
Overall its lovely but does need a few touches looking at

Room was very comfortable with 2 chairs and table to relax in. Bed was excellent and the shower was amazing. Another plus was that there were two mirrors - one over the dressing unit and a long mirror near bathroom. We did not use the spa facilities but there were plenty of people in white dressing gowns so it did appear to be popular. The bar area was very nice and the restaurant was excellent. The food and service were amazing and we can definitely recommend the steak. There was a good choice at breakfast and again the staff were very friendly and attentive

Lovely staff, very good food, comfortable and very good size room. The decor and soft furnishings need updating , however, everything was very clean.
The hotel is in a convenient location for the motorway and for exploring Lancashire and Yorkshire.
This was my fourth time staying here and I will definitely stay again.

Brilliant place to stay, with wonderful staff. However, given the wrong room, booked twin (as with a friend) but given a double, no telephone in room, so had to walk all the way back to reception. Gentleman apologised, sorted it straight away, gave us twin room and an upgrade to executive room. So no problem and very pleased. Went to loung area to wait for friends and bar not open, granted this was 11.30 a.m. but as a resident I would expect all services to be available, so had to wait until 12 noon before bar opened.
On a positive note the breakfast was delicious and Aziz looked after us, chatted, and made us most welcome with fun and laughter, thankyou Aziz your a star. Will definitely go back. Slept well, clean room, and very quiet. Thankyou to all staff who helped and looked after us.

The location is good; it's easy to get on the M65, etc. The rooms are very average, and our window looked out to the flat roof and the ventilation systems, which was noisy.
The breakfast was poor and the staff were not on the ball in terms of refilling the milk stand or the coffee machines. The boiled eggs were cold overall, there was very little variety and quality in what was on offer, especially if you do not eat pork.
This kind of hotel is good for a wedding venue or a spa, not for staying as a guest.

Overall a very pleasant stay. Staff were very warm and welcoming. Our room was very spacious and had everything we needed. The use of the spa was included in our stay plus robes and slippers. We were welcomed with the balloons and chocolates enhancement which staff went above and beyond to adhere to. Food in the restaurant was exceptionally good and the breakfast was lovely.
My only criticism was the bed was slightly too stiff for my liking but would definitely recommend and will happily stay again!

Fantastic stay at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel and Spa, staff were lovely, hotel room was large, spa and treatments were fantastic!

If I had one thing that I would mention, it is that there are a few beds in the spa that look really worn out and a bit broken, and look misplaced alongside the other luxury beds, I think for the size of the hotel, replacing a few worn out beds would cost next to nothing and would look so much better when you walk in the spa.

Lovely room, clean and spacious, could have done with a bin in the bedroom but everything else catered for. Bed was really comfortable. Breakfast was a little chaotic but food great and staff very friendly.
Big mould stain on bedroom wall could do with being dealt with but can see its not a quick job.

We did have a really lovely stay, the room was really spacious and clean. The spa was lovely especially for the price you can’t go wrong at all. The restaurant was nice food was good however slightly pricey but guess that’s just how it is nowadays. However where our room was we could hear a lot of noise from staff coming in, having fag breaks which then meant we could smell it in our room, laundry trolleys being rolled out at 6 in the morning which when you’re having a relaxing break isn’t very relaxing to be woken up to a racket

Last minute night away, lovely hotel. Staff very attentive and polite, could not do enough for you. Great afternoon spent in the spa then booked for dinner. Lovely evening with fantastic food, we had the Pork Belly and the Beef Bourginon, would highly recommend along with the homemade cheesecake. We will definitely be back.
