I really enjoyed my stay but the age of the building is telling with evidence of poor repair around every corner, work is being done and the potential for this to be great hotel can be seen but currently, it is not there. The staff were fantastic, very welcoming and helpful so I am sure once repairs and improvements are made to the building then this will be a place to enjoy a stay.

The rooms were very comfortable and lovely. The breakfast wasn’t the best and the hotel’s restaurant is overpriced for what it is. The gym is spacious and nice though.

Fantastic
Bed breakfast & dinner package - excellent value. We were in a fabulous executive room - big enough for a party!!!!!!! Dinner was the best meal I have had in any restaurant - tender, tasty beef, buttery mash, perfectly cooked vegetables - sadly too full for dessert.
Breakfast was perfectly cooked to order and piping hot on hot plates + a great buffet selection.
Loved the spa (though I am a member so I suppose I'm biased.) All the hotel staff are great - friendly and professional - a credit to the manager. Thank You

I booked this trip as a surprise for my boyfriend's birthday. I was absolutely amazed by the professionalism but also personalisation from the staff here. They went above and beyond to make his birthday special! They had placed items in the room, which I had provided them with, for our arrival and personalised our meal for him! They were amazing!!!!

Visited and stayed here for work purposes, room was cold with a plug in heater which I didn't use, food was good quality but expensive (had a cheeseboard @ £10, 2 choices of cheese (small pieces) but plenty of crackers), bar small, good buffet breakfast and staff friendly.

Mixed bag!
Stayed here on New Year's Day after my partner and I decided to look for a festive spa break. Our stay was not unpleasant, but the hotel itself seems to have a bit of a confused identity.
The room: really nice, very clean, spacious, a pleasure to stay in.
The restaurant: Okay. Not horrible but the food was not memorable. Very much mass catering. My main was relatively flavourless.
The Leisure / Spa facilities - so this is the area which is confusing. The hotel markets itself as a Spa hotel. We arrived and checked in and we were excited to use the facilities. This is where our disappointment began. Upon entering the facilities it was not the relaxing environment one would expect from a Spa, and the very clever photography on many booking websites makes it appear to be something that it is not.
The pool, sauna and steam rooms were all very brightly lit with what I would describe as "gym music" being pumped in. In addition to this the pool was full of kids throwing around toys and screaming (not a grumpy old man -just not what you expect in a spa).
In addition to this the hotel clearly runs a local gym so the facilities were full of locals. Just made for a loud unrelaxing environment.
On day 2 we had treatments these however were lovely. Massage was brilliant.
The hotel would be more accurately described in both mine and my partners opinions as a pleasant hotel with treatments available. Not a spa.
Would we stay again..... if we needed a hotel in the area Yes. ....... if we were looking for a Spa break absolutely Not.

Reception and check in efficient and friendly. Staff all courteous and attentive. However, stayed one night in room 80, there is a constant sound of trickling water behind a wooden panel, my wife had no sleep. TV remote didn't work, had to switch on and off at the plug behind the TV. No scotch at the bar!! Offered bourbon instead. The food was not great at the Xmas function, the chef should be ashamed of himself. The red table wine provided was atrocious/undrinkable. For a 4 star hotel, the above issues are just not acceptable, sorry.
