Is your Therapist Qualified & Insured? Surely all are aren’t they?

Holistic therapy is a growing industry around the world, meaning as consumers we have access to more practitioners than we used too, together with a wider range of treatment types to choose from. However we need to be careful when choosing a practitioner, and ensure they can provide you with evidence of the 3 golden rules which will ensure your safety;

Qualified – Insured - Trusted

In this first of a two part blog where we will consider practitioners qualifications and insurance,   Roger Daniels of Therapi Tylino explains to us that there is currently no mandatory regulation of complimentary therapy practitioners within the UK, which unfortunately means that there are no laws in place to protect the public from unqualified or incompetent therapists. Roger commented, “it’s totally understandable that a member of the public would assume that the industry is well regulated given the personal nature of many treatment types, but sadly it isn’t the case. You could easily incur further injury in the hands of an under qualified therapist, and it may prove difficult to gain any compensation for your injury”.

Roger goes on to advise, “Don’t feel afraid to ask a therapist about their qualifications, any properly qualified and insured therapist won’t mind showing certificates or evidence of their training – in fact, we’ll probably like showing it off! I am a registered and insured member of the Complimentary Therapies Association (CThA) and a registered member of the Complimentary and Natural Health Council (CNHC). I also hold a valid Enhanced DBS Disclosure Certificate”.

Founded in 2014, Therapi Tylinooffers a range of treatment therapies including Indian Head Massage, Aromatherapy Massage and Sports Massage. Roger told us “Qualifications are important within the industry, to ensure the customer is treated successfully and most importantly safely”.
