Stunning historic gardens - Lutyens & Jekyll , what's not to like! The fabulous landscape gardens have interesting follies, temples & quirky buildings scattered along a beautiful walk, with wonderful plants, trees & bushes - & a Victorian garden too! . Lovely restaurant with tasty food, & a good shop & plant sales. Helpful, friendly staff. Interesting videos of the house & garden's history. Fabulous day out.

The gardens here are stunning. They make for a very good walk, and are even a little on the hilly side if you fancy something mildly challenging.

The courtyard cafe by the gift shop seems to offer very nice looking food; it was certainly extremely popular on the day when I was there. There's also a shop where you can buy the standard variety of gifts and also plants. They offer a reward system where you get a stamp every time you spend £7, and eventually I think you get get £5 off a £15 spend.

We ate brunch in the Column Room in the main house, and it was very tasty and extremely good value, with pleasant but unobtrusive service. Most of the brunch options were in the £7-£9 range.

This is a very worthwhile visit if you're a fan of gardens. There are a couple of venues along the walk playing looped video to explain the history of the site, and some of the views are simply stunning. It's worth a couple of hours out of anyone's day.

Lovely gardens, with some colour even in early spring. Lots of little follies and huts to see along the trail. Great second hand book shop in the house but don't expect much else - it's not set up for tours of the house. Tickets a little pricey for low season. Dogs welcome on a lead but could do with a field where dogs can be let off the lead.
