Lovely gardens but modern art display a bit disappointing in the House.
Very disappointing was the lack of service at the restaurant. I waited 15 minutes at the restaurant counter where I was ignored. Then was asked what table I was sitting at. I checked outside quickly where my table was and returned to find the lady serving me had moved on to serving someone else. When eventually she acknowledged me again, I told her where I was sitting and she informed me that I needed to wait at my table for table service. My wife informed me when I went back to our table that no member of staff had been to our table in all the time I had tried to get service.
Needless to say we left without obtaining our order.

Photogenic site, which needs attention to the pathways to the further reaches, otherwise an enjoyable visit.

Often go for a walk around hestercombe, they now have a lovely restaurant with a delicious menu and also a cafe for drinks and light bites. As you come out there is now a gift/plant shop, I have bought a few plants from here, they are lovely 😍

Nice gardens and grounds and tea room. The art exhibition was questionable and not to my taste. Great use of the space though for exhibitions. Loved feeding the fish and ducks.

Lovely gardens originally designed by Gertrude Jekyll with lake and orangery, tea room, plant shop and house with gift store. Lots to see, very helpful volunteers, beautifully quiet when I visited on a Saturday during the bank holiday. Recommended.

Excellent garden which allows you to blend a nice walk in a park with a formal garden. Child and dog friendly.

A very nicely laid out and well managed location for lunch or afternoon tea. It has a relatively small but varied lunch menu, prices are reasonable and the quality of the food is good. The Club sandwich is excellent. Friendly staff, and a relaxing venue all round. Not the easiest place to find but that's probably a bonus. Will definitely visit again.
