A company’s newly qualified first aider put some of the skills he had learnt into practice when out shopping in Shrewsbury.

Ed Glover, assistant marketing manager at caravan and motorhome dealership Salop Leisure, came to the aid of a young child when he bumped into a shelf and a vase fell on his head. He quickly calmed the crying boy, aged around three years, put a cold compress on his head to control the swelling and advised his mum to take him to hospital if his condition worsened.after

Ed recently joined workmate Heather Evans, who works at Love Plants specialist plant centre at Salop Leisure, and touring after sales workshop foreman Richard Morris in completing a three-day first aid course run by St John Ambulance.

“I think having first aid skills is very beneficial because you never know when you might need them in an emergency,” said Ed.
