The MP for Shrewsbury and Atcham is encouraging constituents to support a fantastic new produce market that is opening in Shrewsbury’s Square this weekend.

Shrewsbury and Atcham MP Daniel Kawczynski has been working closely with Stuart Jones from Asterley Events, who runs the popular Shrewsbury Farmer’s Market, in developing the initiative which will welcome a number of renowned food and drink producers from across the county, including Battlefield 1403 and Salop Pickle Works and Heather’s Harvest.

The inaugural event will take place this Saturday between 9.30am and 3.30pm, and will be held on a quarterly basis in the town’s Square.

The event aims to endorse some of the best producers in Shropshire by enabling them to showcase their wares to consumers and traders alike, in the hope it will inspire people to use local products in their businesses and homes.

Daniel Kawczynski said: “I am delighted to have been involved in the launch of this new market, and I am looking forward to meeting some of the most exciting and innovative producers from across the county.

"I do believe Shropshire has some of the best food and beverage products in the country and this event is a great opportunity for bars, restaurants and hotels to find out just what is on offer and to provide this locally sourced produce to its customer.”

Joyce Jagger of Battlefield 1403 commented: “The produce market is a fantastic opportunity for us to demonstrate our full range of products, and raise awareness of just what we have to offer as a farm shop and butchery located on the outskirts of Shrewsbury, we are hugely selective over the products we stock, and all our food is carefully chosen for provenance and taste.

"We are very much looking forward to exhibiting all the products we have to offer, and meeting local consumers and businesses."

Teresa Lewis of Salop Pickle Works added: “We are delighted to be showcasing our pickles at the forthcoming Produce Market, and shall be demonstrating some of the many varieties we have on offer, including the popular Ring Burner Pickled Onions.

"All our products are hand prepared and bottled, using some of the best ingredients sourced locally, of course.”

Karin Clarke of Heather’s Harvest said: “We are very much looking forward to showcasing some of our award-winning chutneys and preserves which are already stocked widely around Shropshire, thanks to the successes of the Shrewsbury Farmers Market stall.

"Thanks to the support of the local community we have already received national recognition, so it is great to be back where we started.”
