June sunshine good for the Mid Wales tourism industry

The glorious June sunshine is fantastic news for the Mid Wales tourism industry as thousands of people head to the sandy beaches of the Cambrian Coast and their caravan holiday homes in the countryside to enjoy the hot weather.

So says Tony Bywater, chairman of caravan and motorhome dealership Salop Leisure, which has sales centres in Shrewsbury, Machynlleth and Stourport-on-Severn.

He believes the sweltering start to the summer season, with temperatures hitting 30 degree this week, will encourage even more British people to staycation rather than jetting off to find the sun.

“When the weather is good, people are keen to make the most of the sunshine by spending time in their caravan holiday homes, motorhomes, touring caravans, camping or just relaxing in their garden,” he said.

“This weather is going to be tremendous for our industry in the long term. We have never seen so many owners out enjoying their caravans during June and it’s purely down to the lovely weather.

“It’s really lovely to see children breaking free from their i-pads and computer games indoors to enjoy playing in the fresh air and at the seaside.

“There is compelling evidence that more and more people are holidaying in the UK this summer because they realise it’s good value for money and long may this trend continue.”
