Extra parking had to be laid on due to the number of people attending the annual Shropshire Handmade and Creative Christmas Gift Fair.

The organiser kept her promise to “launch this year’s festive season with a bang” as more than 10,000 people flocked to the event on Saturday and Sunday, November 23 and 24.

More than 60 local traders offered handmade, home designed and artisan products and food at the popular event, held at Salop Leisure’s headquarters at Emstrey, Shrewsbury.

The Christmas Fair featured many new traders who brought a fresh selection of products for shoppers to view and buy.

Organiser Carrie Hughes, owner of Pink Pebble Events, said this year’s event had been another outstanding success.

The weekend also saw the opening of Santa’s Grotto at Salop Leisure, with parents able to pre-book their children’s appointment with Santa online at www.salopchristmas.co.uk. More than 150 children gave Santa their Christmas wish lists over the weekend.

Salop Leisure’s festive synthetic outdoor skating rink was also launched at the company’s Love2Stay resort, attracting around 100 skaters.

Ed Glover, Salop Leisure’s marketing manager, said the company was delighted with the public response to the Christmas Fair and the launch of this year’s Salop Christmas Adventure, an exciting programme of events and activities.
