Bridgnorth are through to the final of Shrewsbury Cricket Club’s Salop Leisure Knockout T20 Trophy tournament after beating the hosts and holders in the first semi-final last Friday night.

A disappointing result

Batting first, Shrewsbury were bowled out for a disappointing 106 with Will Parton top scoring on 30 and Mark Macpherson-Lees taking three wickets. In reply, Bridgnorth lost six wickets in reaching their target with three and half overs to spare, with Tom Weaver hitting an unbeaten 33. Sam Griffiths took three wickets for the hosts.

Who will be the champions?

Bridgnorth must now wait until Friday’s second semi-final between Shifnal and former winners Oswestry to see who they will face in the final on August 5. All matches start at 6.15pm and are held at Shrewsbury Cricket Club.

To encourage more spectators, tournament sponsor Salop Leisure has agreed to pay for one free drink or an ice cream for Shrewsbury Town Football Club season ticket holders and those wearing the club’s football shirt at the semi-final and final.
