The spring sunshine has given a huge boost to the tourism industry in Shropshire and Mid Wales, says the chairman of an award winning caravan and motorhome dealership.

Tony Bywater from Salop Leisure, which has sales centres in Shrewsbury, Machynlleth and Stourport-on-Severn, says caravan parks across the region had one of their busiest Easters and the buoyant start to the new season has continued thanks to the sunshine.

“The fine weather has brought people out of their homes and it has been great to see children playing in the sea and people sunbathing outside their caravans in April,” he said. “It has been a wonderful month for businesses associated with the tourism industry and a great boost for the local economy.”

Salop Leisure will be hosting the West Midlands Caravan and Motorhome Show in Shrewsbury from Friday to May 4, when 250 caravan holiday homes, lodges, touring caravans and motorhomes will be on display.

The UK’s largest dealership show, which offers free admission, will have a strong focus on families and first time buyers.
