The hotel was just fine and only a short walk into Preston centre. The Guild Hall 5 min away. The room was very clean with a good shower. The car park was a little small for the size of the hotel but everyone was parked up when you ignored some of the double yellow lines around it. As usual breakfast was overpriced at £12 so we never bothered and just went to a local cafe called Scrumptious in Market Street and got a full English with toast and tea for £5.

We spent one night at the Holiday Inn at Preston whilst overnighting after a concert at the Guild Hall. Room was very clean and tidy with tea and coffee facilities in the room. We were on the second floor overlooking the bus station and although there were buses in and out regularly we didn't hear a thing due to the layers of glazing on the windows. The beds were comfortable and the room was adequately equipped with connectivity for the business traveller.

The reception staff were excellent accomodating us in the small ar park and letting us park on double yellow lines so we did not have to park in an external car park and pay the costs. All other staff including the bar and breakfast staff were also polite and helpful.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone planning a short break in the area as it has everything you need for a comfortable stay.

We stayed here for two nights and found the hotel comfortable and the staff very friendly.

The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable.

We didn't eat at the hotel but it appeared to ave a comprehensive menu.

One thing I would say is that there appears to be a lack of car parking facilities which makes people park their cars where they can ... Even if it makes it virtually impossible for the other cars to get out of their space when they are leaving. I think some guests couldn't get parked at all in the hotel car park and had to park in a carpark across the road.

All in all we had a lovely stay and will no doubt return again.

Rooms and hotel nice enough, but ALWAYS waiting. Check-in was slooow, there's no staff at the bar so you have to wait just to place an order. Went to the (empty) restaurant and got ignored by staff for 15 minutes, finally ordered and the drinks took longer to arrive than the food - and the food didn't exactly arrive quickly by any stretch. Expecting the slow staff to check me out slowly in the morning, and hopefully not returning...

Stayed here on two separate nights with coach trip and was pleasantly surprised as we have stayed at Glasgow Airport Holiday Inn Express and the food, room and facilities were nowhere near as good. Room and furnishings modern and although room small it was very comfortable.Bathroom modern and clean although again a bit on the small side it had everything we required. Appreciated the pillow menu. Choice of three dishes with three courses and coffee. Breakfast really good and the red berries which I had along with yoghurt first class.Staff courteous and obliging.

I've stayed here before but feel it's getting tired and won't be rushing back.

Check in was easy enough though no advantage being a Priority Club member.

Room was ok though no mini-bar and quite noisy being next to stairs.

We'd added breakfast to our room only rate but were still charged the next morning.

Free wi-fi in communal areas only.

Car park incredibly small.

Certainly no sparkle. A bit disappointing. Sigh.

Stayed overnight on 11th and 18th June, requested an omelette as items on menu were not suitable, with some reluctance on the 11th it was served, on the 18th after a 35 minute wait it was served with no apology for the delay, all meals from menu had been served and I ate alone, spoke to Operations Manager who then obviously spoke to wait person who grudgingly said she had forgotten to place order, despite writing it down in front of me.
Coffe and Tea were served before desserts, an unusual practice.
The rooms were OK but do not deviate from the set menu!!!!!

I travel frequently for business. This was my 2nd stay here. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Minibar was empty and I didn't see vending machines for bottled water but got water with room service. Was a bit annoyed with room service though. The food was ok, just a basic pasta dish which comes with garlic bread. I didn't realise that though and ordered extra garlic bread. Staff could have told me it already came it!

Didn't do breakfast so can't comment.

Check in could have been quicker. I explained I was priority check in and he gave me forms to fill in. I started doing this but asked why as other ich's don't ask. He then realised I was pc member and just got me to sign in. Check out was a little frantic but I find mist hotels are. My only teal gripe with reception is that it's so close to the stairs ghat people have to queue on them. Not very safe.

We stayed here for 1 night and were really impressed. We got a great rate for B&B and we had dinner in the bar when we arrived. Food in the bar was served until 10pm and we arrived at 9.45pm and they had no problem taking the order and it was freshly made. The hotel itself is right in the town centre and easy to find as its next to a big multi-story car park and the bus station. The hotel has its own small car park which they told us about before we arrived. The room had flatscreen TV and nice clean bathroom. I've no problem recommending this place.

Stayed here on a trip wih family and friends. +tive - The hotel is band in the middle of Preston, probably the tallest building in Preston with its own car park. Breakfast staff very helpful. -tive - small car park, when we called up we were told it was first come first serve basis but was overheard a guest saying to reception that he did not find a space though he booked a parking space, so obviously the info on the phone was wrong. In the end the manager agreed to let me block two cars and park on the condition that I would move my car at time during the night, must say the manager was very accommodative on this count. To top it up this is a free car park. the Building is ageing and it needs a complete refurbishment. This hotel does not have any sofa beds at all.

Got a fantastic deal on this hotel via the Daily Mail on a 2 nights for 1 offer. The hotel is situated next to the bus station, so its ideally placed for the shops, bars and restaurants. Check in was performed with the utmost efficiency and professionalism. The room on the 6th floor, although not massive was clean, comfortable and had a good view over the northern part of town. The caribbean carnival was on while we were at Preston and was enjoyable. I wouldnt hessitate for a second to return to this hotel.

I dont understand some of the reviews as I thought this hotel was fine! Me and my partner stayed there as we were having a night out and the location is a short walk from the bars and restaurants. The room was spacious and clean, the bathroom was lovely and modern and the beds were very comfy. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. There is a small car park and luckily we were able to get a space. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

We stayed for 2 nights in January and couldn't fault our experience. The room was £44 a night and you would expect a basic service for that. However, the rooms were lovely with individual temperature control, a lovely powerful shower, haidryer, a selection of biscuits, flat screen TV and even a pillow menu amongst other things.

The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly - overall I was very impressed and couldn't recommend it highly enough.

I stayed here with a friend in a twin room for one night.
The hotel is in a convenient location for the town centre and also within easy access of major roads. There is a pay and display car park next door which only cost us £3.80 for 24 hours.
Our room was spotlessly clean and whilst nothing fancy it had everything we could have needed. The curtains kept all light out and the beds were comfortable with a choice of firm/soft pillows, however I have marked sleep quality down for the fact that the sound-proofing is terrible and as our room was right next to the lifts we could hear people coming and going almost constantly: most them were also slamming doors and shouting which is not the hotels fault but we shouldn't have been able to hear so much noise.
Besides the noise the only other negative I can think of is that the staff member who checked us out tried to charge me for the room, despite the fact I'd already paid.
All in all a good basic hotel and I'd be happy to stay there again, but would request a room located away from the lifts.

Stayed at the Holiday Inn because of the good value I thought it would represent. Rooms were as expected; quite typical small rooms with a typical bathroom where it's hard to turn around without thinking about the size of the room. But; this is what I come to expect in a typical british hotel, so I get along with it with no extra troubles.

Short way to the city center, although we hitched a taxi both "downtown" and to Deepdale.

Pros:
- £20 pr person pr night is good value for me!
- Every aspect of the hotel was ok, and that was what I was looking for.

Cons:
- No free wifi - sign up for Holiday Inns costumer program and you get free wifi, though.
- Typical small room and bathroom.

If you want something special you don't visit the Holiday Inn Preston (maybe not Preston either...) If you anyhow are in Preston and need a fairly priced place to sleep, the Holiday Inn might be a wise choice for you.

I stayed at this hotel with some friends for 1 night because we were in Preston to see a band at the venue '53 degrees'. The hotel itself is standard fayre really, but it is very clean, very convenient, and the B&B rate we were on was very good value (£55 for a twin room with breakfast - non refundable rate).

The reason I wanted to write this review really was to commend the staff in the restaurant and bar. They were helpful and courteous at all times, but more than that, they seemed interested in us as guests. They engaged us in conversation and really made us feel very welcome.

These ladies are a credit to this hotel and because of them particularly, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay there ...

... and if any of the hotel management are reading this and want to check who was on bar/restaurant duty at this time, our stay was on the 1st of October (Rooms 606/607/319).

My first time stay at this hotel for conducting my business in the Preston area. A comfortable hotel in the city centre with the reception desk up on the first floor. Found all the staff morning and evening very courteous, pleasant and helpful. Nice bar and restaurant areas. Ate in one night and found no fault with the food my colleague had steak and I had fish pie. The room I had was clean and tidy with very comfortable bed and a tea making facility. This hotel also gave a complimentary pack of biscuits each day something that many of the Holiday Inns in other areas have stopped doing. My one and only gripe is the mini baths they fit into these hotel bathrooms. After a long business day I really enjoy a long soak in a hot bath, my bath suited a child or a dwarf, simply uncomfortable it just does not allow a normal person to stretch out and have a soak, my legs were around my chin that's how small the bath is. The other point to be aware of is that the hotel car park only holds around 30 cars after that you may have to go to the P & D opposite. Finally a good breakfast is offered with plenty to choose from and a personal thank you to the nice 'lap dancing waitress' who looked after us on our final morning, what a character.

The room was smart but a little small - but the rate was very reasonable for a bank holiday weekend when hotels in nearby Blackpool and the Lake District were either full or charging extortionate prices. Breakfast is a bit expensive unless you get an inclusive rate. 15 minute walk to the station from where there are frequent trains to Blackppol and an hourly service to Windermere for boat trips and tours of the Lakes. Preston itself doesn't seem to have much to commend it, but as a base point for trips is great and is only just over 2 hours from London by train. My only quibble is that I made a separate booking for a third night and did not receive any priority club platinum treatment (i.e complimentary water and snack) for that; also my first two nights at the two for 1 rate was marked as a non qualifying stay so I did not get any priority club points for it. Apparently it is up to the hotel to decide what is a qualifying stay - all other stays I have made at Holiday Inn or Holiday Inn Express using this rate have qualified so I am very surprised that Preston did not.

Excellent clean hotel with friendly, helpful staff with a sense of humour!

Good food and bar area.

Only down side is the car park. I will not park in the NCP opposite.

I stay at this hotel 4-5 times per year, and always leave feeling refreshed and satisfied with my stay. Although they have no Executive bedrooms, my Priority Club Platinum status is always acknowledged by being allocated a nice room with complimentary food/drinks upon arrival.

The rooms are of a decent size, well sound-proofed and fully air-conditioned. They also have very comfortable beds, LCD TVs and an awesome shower.

Sure, the car park is only small but the NCP opposite is not too inconvenient and at only £3.80 per 24 hours, not too expensive for a city centre stopover! If you're intending to go to Blackpool and are lucky enough to have a space in the car park, I'd recommend leaving the car behind and catching the National Express coach (in the bus station opposite).

Their £99 Blackpool Pleasure Beach rate is very good value - Weekend night at the hotel and 2 x wristbands!

We've eaten in the hotel a few times, and always found the food to be good quality. Plenty of nice restaurants within walking distance (Italian, Pizza Express etc) and of course, good shopping!

The only slight problem we've encountered at this hotel was a broken air conditioning unit - but a quick visit to reception and we were given a new room.

Would I recommend it? Definately!
