It was a Sunday, when most hairdressers wouldn’t normally be working, but after I put a post on social media asking for help, she saw it and responded so quickly. She didn’t hesitate. She went above and beyond to help my daughter when we really needed someone.
But what happened today was about so much more than hair.
She welcomed us into her world, openly shared her own life experiences, talked with us honestly and made us feel completely comfortable and accepted. There was no judgement, no awkwardness — just genuine kindness and understanding.
And then she gave Elizabeth something incredibly important — a voice.
Elizabeth stood in front of the mirror and explained exactly how she wanted her hair to look. She chose how she wanted her fringe, her sides and her back. This wasn’t a pixie cut chosen for her by somebody else.
This was Elizabeth’s cut. Elizabeth’s choice. Elizabeth’s own little look. ❤️
And this amazing lady listened. She understood what Elizabeth was asking for and brought her vision to life.
The result is absolutely beautiful. But what made me emotional was watching Elizabeth look in the mirror and see herself again — not what had happened, not the difficult day she’d been having, but her own unique style and personality looking right back at her.
I will never forget that this lovely lady gave up her Sunday, opened her doors to us and gave us so much more than a haircut. She gave my daughter kindness, dignity, confidence and a safe space when she needed it most.
You probably don’t realise just how much you did for us today.
Thank you for welcoming us into your world, for sharing a little of yourself with us, for listening to Elizabeth and, most of all, for allowing her to be completely herself.
This is Elizabeth’s own look. Her own choice. Her own little bit of individuality. Her own “Lilly look”. ❤️
