I have spent many nights in Holiday Inns whilst away with work - and to be honest many were quite tired looking. The Ringway Hotel - is typically Holiday Inn, but for me the difference was made by the helpfulness of the staff. They sorted out a hiccup with my booking straight away and even got me a better deal. The Hotel it's self was tidy enough and my room was clean and recently decorated. The bar / lounge area also looked as if it had a recent facelift. All in all a pleasant one night stay whilst working in Preston.

The hotel is easy to find once leaving the motorway, despite the confusing one way ring road system. On arriving, the car parking facilities are poor with nowhere near the enough spaces for the amount of guest the hotel can accommodate. We resorted to parking outside the front entrance to enquiry further about overflow parking. We were told by the receptionist that the bus station car park was the only other place to park which you had to pay for, even though when booking this hotel online through their website you have to pay a parking fee which is non negotiable. We queried this with the receptionist, who didn't believe us; luckily we had the booking form which we presented to her as proof. She then reluctantly provided us with a parking permit for the bus station car parking. So if you were lucky enough to park your car in the holiday inn car park you are unnecessarily paying for car parking. The bus station car park doesn't appear the safest car park in the word, but on returning to it the next morning it was fine. The walk however is ridiculous from the car park to the hotel as at the time building work was going on, not what you want when you've got cases to carry back. Once getting in the room it was very nice, exactly what you expect from a holiday inn although the room overlooked the ring road but that wasn't a problem for us. We decided to dine in the restaurant as we didn't know the area well. When arriving in the bar that leads to the restaurant we were told that the restaurant was fully booked but we could have the restaurant menu in the bar, which was a much quieter setting. The meals were nice and reasonably priced and the staff were very friendly too. However, it took 45 minutes for pudding to come out - a crumble and a cheesecake which is unacceptable! Overall a good night stay.

Ok for an overnight - but no longer....

Room was small - but well maintained.

Double glazed - so no major traffic noise.

Mini gym was basic - no treadmill?

Bar and restaurant good service and quality.

Free wifi an added extra...

Limited on site parking - get there early!

The hotel is decent with well maintained clean rooms. You get all you would expect from a budget hotel. The car park is a little cramped. When we reached, there was no space available but we had no issues. They suggested we park behind another car and that they would call us in case we had to move the car. But we did not have to. Next morning when we went for breakfast, spaces were available and we moved our car.

If you are driving to the hotel, then the entrance is actually a little confusing. We had to take 2 rounds to get in because our GPS did not guide us to the entrance. You turn left from the main road and the immediately turn left again but this left is a little to the inside so you may not see it in time. And if you do miss it, then the road you would have taken is a one way. So we had to get back on the main road and turn again. Its not as simple as it may sound.

Breaskfast was a standard buffet. Nothing great, but then no surprises either. Dinner was not good. Or maybe whatever we ordered was just horrible. Wifi connectivity and speed was good. The staff was very kind and check in/check out was very smooth. We forgot a couple of toiletries and the staff were very helpful with providing these. We would happily stay over here again.

stayed here for a couple of nights and was very happy with the service especially at the front desk location wise not the best but I would happily stay here again when I'm next in the area - room was clean everything you could wish for in a hotel of this level

Nice clean hotel and friendly staff. Nice food and good room service. Had a pleasant stay and would stay again happily. Car park is frustratingly small although you can park in the bus station car park at a cost. Some guests did decide to park in the car park even though there were no spaces making it difficult to get out occasionally.

I stay often at HI around the world. This one is one of the better ones, very clean, nice kitchen, friendly staff. Car park is a nightmare, not enough spaces so people double park and block you in. But that's people, not the hotel. Needs to come to an arrangement with the multi-story nearby.

Stayed overnight on way back south from Scotland. Not the prettiest location, but handy. The hotel was very tidy and well run; everyone was very helpful and friendly so it was a comfortable stay.

The food was good enough, if unexciting. Personally, we prefer something a little cosier in decor - I am sure it is fine for the business fraternity!

We want the management and owner's to know how "Phenomenal" the staff is, at this hotel. First the reception desk staff is outstanding, Dylan is fantastic in his job, he fits the front desk well. The breakfast, lunch and dinner staff are, "Absolutly Exceptional"! Tashon Gallagher,
Lee Stevenson, Josie Gaskell, Scott Ferguson, Lorraine Hickson, Laura, Christen (the bride), and anyone else we may have forgotten, please forgive us. We can't say enough about them, we found the staff responsive to all our needs. They were very professional, warm, caring and down to earth, making us feel very comfortable and at home, we very much appreciate that, and nothing, and we do mean nothing, went unnoticed or unappreciated by us. The chefs were fantastic, the food was always delicious, fresh and hot. The maids were very nice and efficient, we appreciate their service. This hotel is setting a great example of what good service looks like, Bravo! Now, the appearance of the hotel, fair, the cleanliness, fair, security on room doors, poor. Bathroom lighting, poor, entire hotel needs renovation. Owners, the exterior and interior need to match the phenomenal service your staff delivers each and everyday.

Thank You, it's been a pleasure.

Good clean well maintained with small car parking space (free) very nice efficient staff, reception is on the first floor making it a strange experience when entering the building and the lift will only descend to reception after a certain time in the evening (H&S) however this would prove difficult for the mobility impaired who may need to get onto the ground floor past lift restricted timeframe, free newspaper, a range of telly channels but subject to finding them.

Breakfast was available and was very good very well maintained with lots of staff to hand frequently checking and keeping the areas well stocked. Coffee served by staff direct at your table. Staff made this part of the stay have the looked after feel.

Rooms have tea and coffee however only two sachets of normal coffee so had to request additional.

Plenty of nice and fluffy towels in addition to a very good large shower with plenty of available hot water.

My key card kept re setting so required two additional trips for re setting making it a little inconvenient.

Wine by the glass is a little expensive in comperison to the bottle.

Overall the staff and the clean environment made the stay as very good one; few tweaks would make it a lot better!

Stayed overnight, room was clean and comfortable, bathroom was bright and spotless.
Plenty of choice at breakfast, staff are sometimes over-run when a bus party is there.
There is not a large car park so get there early.

Nicely kept rooms and Kudos to the cleaners, the added attraction of being co-located with prestons iconic bus station, for lovers of 60s concrete structures .

Shouldn't mock though it's a value for money hotel, and bang in the center, and staff are just fine

Stayed one night for business - standard HI room standards, quite small but well appointed. Gym was odd - just bikes no other cardio items. Bar was empty - but really expensive pints £4.50 - high for Preston!

Breakfast was ok but service in morning was poor - no tea offered, and couldn't get attention. It's a long way out from station by run-down bus station and ring road. Not bad overall, but not great either.

Nice hotel with really pleasant helpful staff particularly on reception, the food in the restaurant was good and reasonably priced, the rooms clean and comfortable. The down side is parking, they have about 30 spaces on site and as we arrived late we parked as recommended on the website in the bus station car park, it was dark dreary and as 2 females alone a bit scary at 21.00 hours, also we then had to struggle to get our luggage over to the hotel. I think holiday inn need to allocate 2 spaces for 15 minute registration in the car park like they do in a lot of places in the US, enabling guests to drop luggage before going off site to park

Nice hotel right in the center of town.
Parking was full so had to park over the road over the bus station which I was not happy with but did so as had no choice.
Preston town center is a another conversation entirely ;-(

I was with a big party that had a silver service dinner tonight (12-6-12). To start on good point the food was great and the sevice was brilliant, there was laura and scott and also a young man in a black shirt whos name i cant remember who we was very pleased with as they were efficient, polite and very welcoming especially the gentalman in the black shirt who was very entertaining, however there was another girl I think her name was kristine but all she seemed to do was give orders without lifting a finger to help and at one point seemd quite offended when she was asked for help. Im assuming she was some sort of supervisor but iv worked in hotels before and no matter what your job title everyone including supervisors and managment should always work together and help eachother and not leave it to the staff its unfair and arrogant!. However all in all id give an 8 out of 10 although i do think your supervisor should take some sort of training on how to work with others....see you soon.

Stayed at this hotel on a girl's birthday weekend and was pleasantly surprised with the contemporary style of reception, restaurant and rooms. It was extremely clean and tidy and received prompt service on arrival. The only one downfall of this hotel is that there seemed to be smoke from people smoking sneakily in their bathrooms which seemed to travel up through the air vents and on to other rooms so we awoke the next morning to what smelt like someone smoking in our room. Otherwise the hotel was spot on! Oh and great breakfast the next morning as well.

had a good night stay last night but unfortuantly the car park was way too small for saying how many rooms they have. Had to park at the big car park across the road. remember to get a voucher which is £4 to put in your car to save paying extra car parking prices. Rooms were clean althou the bathroom did have a strange smell. If you can try and get a room on the car park side as we had a room at the back on the top floor but you could still hear the traffic even with the double windows closed. Breakfast was nice, a good selection! Overall didnt have the best night sleep but was a nice hotel

ideal location for wedding we went too near by, beer at the bar was terrible tasted like lines havent been cleaned in a while, staff at breakfast were very helpfull. the near by road causes some noise early in the morning but the thing you need to be aware are housekeepers try cleaning your room at 8 am in morning . but they do a very good job clean throughout hotel, will return as is convenient

As noted previously, this fairly large hotel has about 12 parking spaces--if you are on business and return to hotel late in the afternoon--resign yourself to parking in the ramp next door. You can pick up a parking pass from the front desk before you leave in the AM and will be able to snag a good spot in the ramp. The breakfast buffet had the standard fare--good selection of fruit. The rooms were nice--small by American standards, but perfectly suitable. TV channel selection was poor--no US channels, not even CNN. The staff was at all times courteous, friendly and helpful. In fact, the staff was among the best I've noted in any hotel I've ever stayed at. The area may not look that great, but you are only a quick 2-3 block walk to Church Street that has a fine selection of pubs, restaurants etc. would I stay here again? Yes.

Chose this hotel as it was easy to reach by train, excellent location. Very clean and reasonably priced. The staff at the hotel were very pleasant without being intrusive. Had dinner in the restaurant on the first floor which was very nice too.

Very limited car parking was first impression. Pleasant staff, but decor is tired and room was a bit stuffy. The food served in the bar was a little pricy for what you get, and something reacted poorly with my stomach! Will look to try somewhere else next time.

The receptionist was charming, the bed was comfortable, there was a bathtub (not just a shower), the restaurant was excellent, and the hot & cold buffet breakfast superb. We pre-paid the rate including breakfast, and this was a good choice.

An excellent location just minutes from the main town. The turning into the hotel is just before the ramp to the multi-story car park so dont miss it. Car parking is a little limited but I have always got parked. Staff were excellent with lots of smiles and a friendly chat. The rooms are fine and the bar area large and reasonable. The breakfast is excellent value. Book when you check in and its £5 per person. The breakfast was one of the best I have had at this type of hotel, everything was on offer from a full cooked to cereals, fruit, pastries and the jams etc and it was self service have what you want.
