Good location, friendly staff, clean environment, great breakfast.
Very good value for money. Only stayed one night but had no complaints at all. Only advice would be to get there early if you want to park in the on site car park.

Stayed at this Holiday Inn whilst visiting Preston for a football match. The hotel was exceptionally clean and the staff very helpful. From the moment we opened our room door the warmth hit us which after being outside in the cold was welcomed. The beds were extremely comfortable which I was delighted with as I usually find it hard to sleep when not at home. The evening meal from the bar/grill restaurant was a little on the expensive side and you didn't get a lot but what you did get was very appetizing. Breakfast which was included in the price of the room was plentiful and the full English was cooked to order which was a refreshing change from having it sat around in trays where you help yourself as usually when it is self service it is half cold but the way they do it here it is piping hot.
The next time we visit Preston I will definitely book to stay here again.

I stayed here on business recently. Its a tiny bit tricky to locate the entrance and is easy to shoot past but not too hard to rectify if you do go past it. A very warm welcome - in fact good service all round. My room was roomy, although unbelievably hot. I stayed during January and there was nothing I could do to moderate the temperature in the room. The windows don't open very far and the air con was less than efficient! It really was hot and the bed was a little bumpy/ springy so I had a few disturbed nights sleep.

My room and bathroom was clean and well serviced. The location is great and very central, although do be careful walking towards the centre from the hotel.... its a really tricky junction to cross just near the bus station so buses take a wide berth to turn into the bus station - it looks like they are going straight ahead then come at you! Just be careful, particularly if you have children with you!

Breakfast was nice and varied. The staff were really helpful and friendly.

The gym is very small and the step machine and treadmill kept breaking during my stay- I reported it so hopefully this has been rectified. Its a very small gym so you probably need to pick your times.

Stayed one night (18/12) on business. Reception staff welcoming and professional. The rooms are perfectly adequate and the price is about right.
The hotel has a mini gym, cross trainer, cycle and running machine (not working when I was there) so if you are a gym goer then a good option. There is only one piece of each equipment so if busy might mot be great
Food was ok but nothing to set the world on fire and the staff in the restaurant and bar were polite and efficient

i've stayed here a couple of times for a week at a time. the rooms are clean and functional, service from all staff is very professional. the best thing is the quality of the breakfasts, vast choice, good quality and excellent service.evening meals seem of a much better standard at the weekend than on weekdays.

This is a standard Holiday Inn; however, the staff were incredibly helpful. I stayed for 2 nights and everyone I came into contact with was genuinely pleasant, courteous and helpful. I say genuinely because I went to London afterwards, and stayed at a hotel where the standard, false facade was all too prevalent.

The breakfasts are also worthy of note. The kippers with poached eggs was a special order, but at no extra charge, and on both mornings were high quality and cooked to perfection.

Stayed at the Holiday Inn last week. The hotel itself is OK, rooms are basic but fine. The food is OK but overpriced but that's the case with most similar hotels. The bar staff were great, Lee? And Lucianne i think their names were, were very good, helpful and pleasant though there seemed a lack of help/support from management that appeared to make their life harder which is a shame.

Overall I would stay again if I just needed somewhere for the night but the cost of the room and food don't represent value over a longer period. Also, the parking is beyond poor and people seem to resort to abandoning their cars or blocking others in due to lack of spaces.

Stayed here due to its location next to the guild hall, was plesently surprised, we normally stay in the upmarket hotels (Hilton etc) this was just as good if not better than some of them.
The bar was a tad expensive but that's to be expected and the car park was full so we had to park in the nearby multistory.
The buffet breakfast was fantastic as was the price we paid
Only thing we didn't like was finding an unflushed toilet when we checked into our room!!!!

the rooms were immaculately clean. It was quiet and comfortable. the staff gave friendly helpful
service. My friends have not had much experience of Northern Warmth and were delighted
by the smiling friendliness of staff members.

We all enjoyed the top quality breakfast and the staff serving us were cheerful and helpful.
Sorry I didn't make note of any names to mention.
I am visiting friends nearby and have booked in to stay 7th and 8th December and am looking
forward to my return visit.

We snapped up a bargain to stay here at over 50% off and it was excellent, it meant we had to put up with a twin bed room but we were only stopping for one night and out visiting friends the whole time. The hotel is convenient to get to, right in the city centre. We were on the 7th floor so had excellent views of the city and Lancashire countryside beyond (despite the rain!).

Only downside is the tiny car park, but if you ask at reception you can buy 24-hour parking in the Bus Station car park for £4 (bargain!). Room was very clean, TV was good and has everything you need. We didn't have breakfast included and didn't eat at the bar. Ordered some drinks on room service and they were efficient.

If you're on a short stop over in Preston then Holiday Inn is a safe bet.

This hotel is one of the bleakest, most miserable places I've stayed for a long time. The hotel is functional enough and provides all the services that guests require it just lacks any sort of ambience or sense of welcome. Extremely dim lighting in all areas of the building is part of the problem. It's as though they're running things off an emergency generator and is just creates a miserable atmosphere. The hotel's location is also thoroughly depressing - next to the bus station and the whole area surrounding the hotel is in need of redevelopment. The area outside the hotel is also very badly lit which adds to the whole melancholy experience. A couple of taxi drivers told me to be careful outside the hotel after dark and the area is frequented by unsavoury types. I didn't experience any problems myself in this regard but I can imaging some people, especially lady guests on their own might find the area a bit uncomfortable. I booked a double room and got two twin beds shoved together. Had one of those folding suitcase stands but there was literally nowhere to stand it. Bar area was depressing. Only used the restaurant for breakfast which was okay. Never received the complimentary newspapers that I ordered. Only one member on the desk during check out in the morning and she looked thorough miserable. She apologised for the wait but her tone and lack of smile or any sort of eye contact suggested she was running on auto pilot and totally brassed off. The hotel does the job in terms of roof over you head and bed for the night but I won't hurry back. Unfortunately Preston is not exactly blessed with a great choice of places to stay.

If you overlook the fact that from the outside this hotel looks a bit like a Soviet office block it's not a bad place to spend a no frills night. Staff were friendly and helpful. Restaurant has a faint look of a 70's motorway service station but the food was surprisingly good, and the service prompt, efficient and friendly. My bedroom was quite small compared to a Premier Inn, as was the bathroom, but it did the job. I tried the Holiday Inn to compare with my default choice of a Premier Inn. On balance, I would opt for a Premier Inn, but that is not to say this Holiday Inn was a disappointment.

Good location if you arrive by car or bus - it's a bit of a hike from the railway station. Good cheeck in, fast and easy and staff pleasant and welcoming. Room was of a good size and the sliding wooden window shutters are a novel idea and effective. Room clean along with the bathroom. Ample storage space but no iron or ironing board, bit of a fag to ask every time yu need it, but am sure that it would not be a problem. The room was very quiet, no noise from outside or adjoining rooms.

Dining room pleasant along with the staff but the meals are expensive and generally small portions. Would suggest eating as the top of the main street is not to far. Breakfast is much better with a good selection of food, presented as buffet style. Staff attentive and observant and make sure you are looked after. Generally good quality food such as bread, orange juice and the local yoghurts are wonderful. Top marks for breaskfast.

Check out easy and staff check if you need any assistance for your onward journey and ask in a way that shows they do want to help, rather than it being part of the check our script. Overall the bedrooms, staff and breaksfast are the things which score the hotel highly.

This hotel has been downgraded since I last stayed here, you won't find a bathrobe or slippers in your room. The rooms are modern and clean and a reasonable size. Good value for the money. The car park is small however and spaces are at a premium.

its very generic, bland and ordinary. extremely good value for money. There are only a couple of rooms in the hotel that have windows that open - luckily we had one of them. The staff are very helpful, but the service in the bar was seriously slow

I stayed here last week, it is now a Holiday Inn Express and has only been open 6 weeks. The room was immaculate with a really comfortable bed, huge power shower and modern decor. Only negative was the limited food menu but the buffet breakfast had a massive choice and was excellent. Overall offers excellent value for money in a really handy location for the M6, would definately recommend.

In October last year (2011} I was sent by my employers to work in Preston for 6 months, the agreement was that I would stay in preton from Sunday evening returning to the South east on Friday evening.
My employers (a Government department) use Expedia for hotel bookings so I left the arrangements up to them and they selected the Holiday Inn.
I enjoyed staying here, the hotel provides car parking which was important to me and from day one I was impressed with the staff from the porters to the duty managers everyone of them was cheerfull and very helpfull.
My double room was comfortable and kept clean.
I can not priase the breakfast enough, plenty of choice and guest can eat as much as they like.
My only negative is that the evening meals were quite expensive but there are plenty of restraunts close by including Indian and Chinees and a trtaditional pub at the end of the road.
The hotel is situated opposite the bus station but i was not kept awake at night and the town centre is within walking distance.
I would reccommend this hotel to business travellers who want to relax after a gruelling day of meetings or to do extra work from the hotel.
I was not there at week-ends but I think that it would be a good base for couples and adult famalies but I did not get the impression that there wa much to do for young children.
I could have changed to a more expensive hotel but decided to stay put although a swimming pool would have been nice.

Good location with excellent rooms and facilities.Attitude of staff was excellent,Value for money was also excellent.
Problem with limited car parking for guests - made worse by staff grabbing lots of the spaces for their own cars. Not very good and we were not impressed. We wondered if the Hotel General Manager condoned this.
Would stay again - will arrive in good time to secure parking place.Parking issue took the edge off a really good stay.

We have been staying here for a lot of years and its main attraction is its location, it is only a short walk to the city centre and very close to an excellent Chinese restaurant called Great Times. Great prices can be found online for this hotel, I used the holiday inn app and got a double room for a Friday night for £39, breakfast was £10 extra per couple which is excellent value as it is an all you can eat style buffet catering for all tastes. The rooms are alway clean, the staff are very helpful. The only thing that I'd say against this hotel is the lack of car parking outside the hotel, there aren't enough spaces for the numbers of rooms but you can park at the adjacent multistorey carpark but we prefer to have the car where we can see it from the hotel.

Was a bit surprised at the last reviews as I found it excellent for a 3star hotel, the room was excellent very clean the bathroom was also very clean with fresh towels and a nice size bath, the shower was very powerful and there was shampoo and shower gel provided, parking is limited to first come first served which is fair, there is parking right facing the hotel, the staff at breakfast where excellent and cleared away very quickly, the choice was very good with hot and cold food available from cereal and fruits to porrige, and a full English hot breakfast, you would be poor to complain about the selection offered as there was a great choice for breakfast, although only stayed for one night would happily stay again, it's about two miles to the hotel from the M6 so easy to get back to the motorway and a short walk to the city centre

We stayed as part of a group package with the Frog & Bucket comedy club. The rooms are very good and clean. The bar area was great. The selection at breakfast was excellent. The only problem was the small car park, but there is a large multi story car park next door.

We stayed here on a coach trip before going to the Isle of Man.The hotel is clean and spacious and we slept really well considering the central location and early start for traffic. The food was a bit meagre but I expect that was to do withe the budget as it was a coach party. It was tasty though so no complaints there and the breakfast was excellent.

Hate staying at hotels for work but at the holiday inn for the next 4 months...the one thing that makes it an enjoyable stay is the people working there.

Lucianne was brilliant in the bar. Always available, professional and a great laugh as well. She is a credit to the hotel and really made the stay. Very refreshing and one of the only reasons I will continue to use the holiday inn for the next 4 months.

Joanne and Kerry were also great and made sure that everything we needed was sorted before going up. Couldn't ask for more off this pair, complete legends.

Food is fine, what you would expect and the rooms are clean and well maintained. Parking is pretty poor, often having to find people blocking you in or blocking others in.

Overall though, want to say a huge thank you to Lucianne, Joanne and Kerry for making a great place to be away from home and the only reason I will continue using the holiday inn whilst away on work.
