We spent a very pleasant night on b&b basis at The George in July. The Courtyard room was of a high quality and took account of every need including the provision of fans to combat the extreme heat at this time. Breakfast was very good too, comprising pretty much of anything one might want.

Will definitely be back! Everything! Rooms were spacious and comfortable, particularly the beds. Food was really special, everything cooked to order and homemade. Couldn’t fault a thing. Having read one recent review that said the rooms looked tired, I wondered if we were staying in the same place! Certainly not my experience. Nothing

If you are wanting something rural this may just be the place, when I say rural I mean it in the sense that it is not slick, lumpy small bed the courtyard is the old pub carpark full of merry locals (no early sleeping) and therefor no parking. Food offerings vary from burgers to steak to nothing depending on the day of the week - but the breakfast is great.. needs a lot more work done everything is looking tired, a dream realised and then Covid came along and scuppered the plans.. even the chelsea tractor was not the dreamed of model..

Lovely country pub in pretty village with accommodation separate to the pub. Great breakfast. Superb breakfast meaning no lunch was later needed. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Nice "real" coffee in room with selection of teas. Great pub restaurant on site with super non traditional pub food on menu. Very quiet, quaint and isolated village in beautiful countryside. Rooms appeared to have been either really well looked after or recently renovated. Duvet was designed for winter - and without an alternative top sheet and blanket arrangement it was difficult to sleep in (unusual) hot weather as the top (roof attic space) floor gets very warm. There was no air con. There was also a noisy extraction fan (or air conditioning or refrigeration unit?) on a nearby roof that went on and off all night (if sleeping with window open).

Although not far from where we live we decided to celebrate a birthday weekend by dining and staying overnight at this village pub with rooms. We were not disappointed. The menu is always imaginative with food that is top class. Our room was very spacious with double aspect windows and an ensuite. Plenty of tea, coffee, bottled water and biscuits supplied. Steph and Neil are the perfect hosts, making sure that everything was OK. They were there next morning and Neil cooked the most perfect breakfast - bacon crispy as requested. We will be back for the incredible food and wouldn’t hesitate to stay overnight again.

A great place!
We are regular visitors here but posting this review after having dinner last Friday with friends.
As usual the whole experience was lovely.
A great menu, and all the food we had was delicious. Great drinks also, but the ambience and the gently welcoming and jovial manner of the team was delightful.
Highly recommended!

We called on the off chance of getting in for Sunday lunch today and I’m so pleased we did. My husband had beef and I ordered the lamb, they were both absolutely delicious. The staff were really friendly, chatted with some lovely people and the whole experience was great. We will be going again definitely. Thank you

Had a very fine meal at The George last night. Had only attended a great Wine/food pairing night here since the new owners had taken over, and vowed following that night to return before long. So last night it was. Booked for just a couple, but bumped into pals enjoying a drink in the garden and staff had no qualms in accomodating them to eat with us. Everyone enjoyed their meals which were beautifully cooked and well portioned. Cod Cheek and Chorizo, and Pigeon breast starters went down well, followed by Fish Platters and Hanger Steak with Mac and Cheese for mains. Topped off, by those able to manage, with Cheeseboard and a Lemon Posset dessert. All very fine ! Staff are welcoming and attentive. Good atmosphere in the pub too. We'll be back soon, and you'd do far worse than giving it a visit yourselves
