We had Sunday lunch at the George yesterday and yet again it was an absolute delight. Neil and Steph are extremely welcoming and friendly as are the staff and the food was just outstanding. We had a beautiful crab starter to share which tasted just as good as it looked . When we have been before we had sirloin but we tried the lamb this time which was just as exceptional - the gravy here is the tastiest I have ever had - Yorkshire puds and roast potatoes also as delicious as always - I really don’t think there’s many better places to eat locally - very happy customers

Useful well priced addition to the local hostelries. Recently refurbished, the publican and his wife and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was furnished simply and was comfortable. Huge ample breakfast!

The George at Ashley is lovely village pub with a good choice of beers, food menu and friendly landlord and landlady. The accommodation is clean and comfortable with in room tea and coffee facilities. Breakfast was plentiful (full English). I'd highly recommend.

Comfortable one night stay at this pub which is in the heart of attractive Ashley. Good breakfast, carefully prepared: refill of coffee offered. Early check in as requested not a problem. Attractive, unpretentious but comfortable rooms. Well tended courtyard for sitting out. Would have liked to try out the restaurant particularly the Far Eastern menu (had a commitment which prevented this). Next time. Parking is on the street: not too much of a problem though.

Great afternoon tea served on Thursdays, wonderfull sandwiches and cakes reasonably priced. Need to book in advance. Friendly staff and nice surroundings, can have it outside in the summer. Four types of sandwich, fresh scones with creAm and jam and a selection of small cakes. Fab mini trifle!

Nice pub with good food in a lovely little village. Hotel accommodation side needs some attention Room was well decorated and cosy. Dinner was very well cooked and presented Room door had swollen with rain so that you needed a "knack" i.e. to kick the door so that it would shut and be lockable from outside. But couldn't be locked from inside making occupying the room over night an unsecure experience. The room was not serviced after our first night. The room above did not appear to be carpeted and we could hear loud footsteps every time they moved making us feel that they were in our room

The food both in the evening and at breakfast was amazing! Really good, and the whole team really looked after us brilliantly and were so lovely to us too. The village is an idyllic setting to relax and have a lovely break. We did some beautiful dog walks around the area and it was so great that the George was happy for our dog to come with us and even be seated with us at dinner in the cosy Snug area of the bar/restaurant. Thank you so much for such a lovely and comfortable stay. It was a really enjoyable weekend and such a great place to be!

Been here many many times for Sunday lunch both with my partner and wider family, ourlast visit was mid-May 2022. Everyone has said how lovely the food is and how nice the staff are. Sunday lunch is absolutely delishious. I have also sent many friends here all whom have said its excellent. The place is dog friendly too.
The owners really do make everyone feel welcome.
