Although a fairly sombre place when you consider why it exists, the grounds are wonderfully kept, and is a great space to explore and take a stroll, particularly in the meadows and alongside the river.

A really poignant place to visit. I took my son to the stick man trail, a lovely addition which takes you near some beautiful memorials which are a great way to spark conversations and create learning moments which are age appropriate

Playground: There were two playgrounds we found, one with a huge climbing frame near the start of our walk and a second near a memorial for evacuee children of the Second World War which was a wooden adventure style place and also the end of the StickMan trail

A very amazing place. The tributes/memorials are easy to reflect on. Not just a military memorial. Interesting new memorial tree of Memories and also submariner bronze. Completed the circuit clockwise today 31-03-24, surprised to pick up different displays missed on previous visits.

Amazing peaceful arboretum with memorials and sculptures to remember those who have passed on. Extensive site with good wheelchair access in most places. Lots to explore. Café, restaurant and toilets on site. Everyone should visit here, nature and history combine.
Note: Prone to flooding following heavy rain as nearby river breaks its bank. Bring wellies!

We booked the car park online and it said to come for 3pm. We then not had enough time to see anything after we went to see the screening for the stick man, and the train bus was already closed by the time we have finished the learning centre. I would suggest not to go by the website carpark time suggestions as you will not have time then for walking. At the end we didn't see the stick man trail :-(

We went to the stick man event this week and it was brilliant. From the cinema film to the crafts to the walk. Kids 3 & 5 loved it. Big thank you for those who put the effort in the making a special event for half term in such a beautiful setting.

Peaceful, humbling and thought provoking. As you might expect there are loads of individual memorials here to different areas of the armed services. Also memorials to lots of civilian services.
Far too many young lives commemorated but sadly that's the nature of conflict.
Visit if you can.

I didn't realise the scale of the place you could easily spend all day there. It was eye opening the numbers that have been killed during battle. Top tip there is a computer by the cafe where you can look up family members I really should have done that first. I also wish I had taken the land train as even though it is flat (apart from the parts on the grass) the vast area it covers I didn't see it all due to mobility issues. They do have mobility scooters on site too. The cafe food was reasonably priced and portions were large. You can take friendly dogs but they must be on the lead and the cafe inside had dog friendly tables. Car parking was £6 but that was entry as well, cheaper if you prebook. Toilets were clean and disabled/accessable were large. Most importantly the staff were super friendly, knowledgeable and approachable.
