Our British family wanted to show us this cathedral. It is magnificent and wonderful. Just like Notre Dame cathedral without all the queue.

Oh what a impressive cathedral, probably the best that I have visited, and I have visited quite a few. The exterior is breath-taking and the inside is not to be outdone. I was disappointed that time was limited due to being on a coach trip as I would have loved to have spent much more time. The upkeep of both the internal and external are exceptionally well preserved, and I was delighted that no fee was charged at entry. I more than happily donated on leaving. This building is well worth a visit and I would love to return should I be in the area.

This is a fantastic Cathedral right in the centre of Lichfield and very easy to access. The structure really showcases the work that has gone into producing a beautiful experience. We really enjoyed the experience. Thank you for keeping this alive.

This really is a must to visit. The interior and exterior of the cathedral are equally impressive.

The stone work is truly amazing considering its age.

The gardens around the cathedral and also very well kept.

Lichfield has a wealth of tea rooms nearby too which are worth a visit.

This is a unique cathedral of great age and a truly imposing interior with a lengthy nave and some lovely (Belgian) stained glass and interesting tombs.
Not a beautiful exterior but a peaceful setting in a relatively unspoilt town.

We visited the cathedral whilst staying locally to visit family. What a sight! The lady who was inside the entrance was so friendly, we spent a lot more time here than we first wanted to allow because there is so much to see. Both history and architecturally it was definitely worth a trip!

As with all visits to cathedrals the sheer size and tranquility within is always welcome and a time to reflect on friends no longer with us. The stained glass windows are beautiful. The interior and exterior of the building are both in good repair and well worth a visit if you are in the area. Beautiful.

Visited a few times and this is most definitely one of the best cathedrals around. It is fascinating to explore the cathedral itself and the close. Well worth the visit.

As a local a familiar landmark and one of the finest and well presented cathedral in the country. A building of religion fist and of all, but visitors welcome and excellent guide staff. If you can catch a light display evening as good as Segrada Familia.

Every church in England however lowly or high has something of note. The one at Lichfield cathedral is missed by most visitors. It has a piece of sculpture second to none, worthy of Rome or Florence. On the south east corner of the nave just before the chancel in white marble is the sleeping sisters by Francis Chantrey, a masterpiece of British sculpture. See the Wikipedia entry with the moving story of the tragic deaths of the sisters. Sit there for a while and read the poem by William Lisle Bowles. This small interlude in your busy life will be time well spent, reflecting on their lives, and viewing this quite stunning piece of art.

We went for the Christmas light show. It was foggy so the outside laser lights were much too dim, but the various displays inside were brilliant, and the Cathedral itself is magnificent.

I went to the Cathedral during a visit to Lichfield, it is the only medieval English cathedral with three spires. It is well worth a visit as the architecture is impressive. Recommended.

Lichfield Cathedral is very picturesque and larger than would be imagined for a small city. Inside this grand place of worship, there is an amazing record of local history, brilliant stained glass windows from around Europe and a gallery of modern paintings by a local talented artist. Help is readily available from Cathedrall guides, and a if you wish to light a candle of prayer, you can.

Lichfield lacks the size of some of the grander cathedrals, but is elegantly proportioned with some beautiful masonry, and the recently restored Herkenrode glass at the east end, and one of my favourite cathedrals. I believe that it is unique in England in still having spires on all three of its towers. Set in a traditional cathedral close, there are still traces of some of the old defences of the close, which was besieged three times in the Civil War in the 1640s. Treasures normally on display include the St Chad Gospels (similar to the better-known Lindisfarne Gospels, but in more muted colours), a beautiful Anglo-Saxon carved angel excavated from under the cathedral floor a few years ago, and part of the Staffordshire hoard of Anglo-Saxon gold. Welcoming atmosphere, although some of the stewards can be a bit managing, and the quality of the information that they provide variable. No refreshments or toilets in the cathedral itself, but both can be found at the Chapters tea room run by the cathedral, just to the south of the cathedral itself. There is only disabled parking available in the close, although there are three public car parks within a few minutes walk, so allow for that when visiting.
