The Stations of the Cross exhibition of paintings by Peter Walker was well presented with just the right amount of comment to enable reflection. The Cathedral was welcoming and sensitively run.
It is well worth a visit this Lent.
Just one warning. The Bird Street car park, which is the nearest, is busy, inexpensive and has toilets, but needs maintenance because some of the pay and display machines were faulty. I note that others have commented on this car park.

Awe inspiring gothic cathedral, soaring architecture, every surface, inside and out, intricately decorated. Built to the glory of God and a must visit for everyone else passing near Lichfield. Set in a beautiful quiet close and near to the houses of Erasmus Darwin and Samuel Johnson, great minds who changed the world!

This huge Gothic style, Medieval Cathedral certainly stands alongside those of other major cities. It has a beautiful interior, the stained glass windows being just one point of particular interest. There are many other interesting features including the unique three spires. It has a rich history dating back to 669AD and continues to be a vibrant place of worship.
The cathedral has a welcoming, warm atmosphere and hosts various events throughout the year. It is free to enter ( donations welcomed) and certainly we'll worth a visit.
The city centre itself has many independent shops and a Saturday market, or you can stroll by the river and visit the park nearby.
We had a lovely afternoon tea at Chapters, the Cafe in The Close next to the Cathedral.

We visited the cathedral whilst on a trip to Lichfield and it was the best part of the day. Its incredible architecturally but also amazing as it's a free amenity and so worth a visit ! It's a very humbling experience but one I'd definitely repeat!

The Lichfield Cathedral is located in Central Lichfield, close to Beacon Park and Market Street. The exterior is highly impressive, one of the most ornate Catthedrals I have visited. The interior is breathtaking, the architecture is simply awe inspiring. Highly recommended.
