Identified by its three spires this cathedral is the centre of a diocese covering the West and North Midlands. It is large and free to enter, although a donation would be appreciated. Inside there is much to see and some wonderful stained glass.

Lichfield Cathedral is a stunning example of Gothic architecture. Built in 1195 and really sets the standard for the town. The grounds are surrounded with quirky buildings, shops, bars and restaurants. If you love history and want an interesting little town to explore, you have come to right place.

We enjoyed our visit, especially the stained glass windows at the east end and the story of Chad, the first bishop.

Good bit of history about the Cathedral its tranquil and a lot to see there are people to help if you have a question about Chad ect.

It is free but they do like you to give a donation they also have a nice little gift shop.

My "local"'s York Minster, Diane's is Durham Cathedral and quite frankly, Lichfield cant compete with either - there's absolutely nothing amiss, it's a fine building etc..............
