Since its launch in September 2012, the free community 5k running event has clocked up a collective 40,075km. Just under 1,600 individuals of all ages and abilities have achieved the equivalent of running round the Equator in 8,000 runs.
A new elite cycling road race will be coming to Ipswich and Suffolk this summer, British Cycling has announced. The University Campus Suffolk Ipswich & Coastal Grand Prix has been added to the elite road race calendar on Sunday 8th September.
While Mo Farah is breaking records elsewhere, the free community event runners have broken the long distance tape in just 22 runs in Chantry Park.
Now, organisers of the 5k runs are sending participants on tour … to Christchurch Park, where, from Saturday 2nd March, runners, joggers, buggy pushers, dog owners and walkers can take part each Saturday starting at 9am. This “tour” will last for a couple of months and all the runs are free.

The Best of Ipswich along with a team of local business owners and willing volunteers are hoping to raise in excess of £6000 for local charities during 2010.

The Larking Gowen Ipswich Half Marathon attracted nearly 1000 runners on Sunday 30th August 2009.
An event that promises to be even better in 2010.
