We really enjoyed our trip to this zoo. The set up is excellent with lots of shaded areas on a scorching hot day, buggy friendly access and not too much walking between the attractions for my mum who is in her seventies. Our two older ones (5 and 9) loved the dinosaur trail and also the different animal zones as well as the play equipment and the splash pool. It kept them entertained for 5 hours which is what all parents want from a day out. As fans of the CBeebies programme ‘One Zoo Three’ our children were thrilled to bump into Aaron who couldn’t have been nicer. We highly recommend.

Lovely clean well kept zoo with different areas of interests for different ages . We have a pass so are able to visit fairly regularly. We do find that in the warmer weather quite a few of the animals are sleeping and smaller children cant see them so you need to go round a few times or can miss most of the animals , also in term time close to the school holidays it was crowded with school trips and also then didficult to find seats round the main cafe and also get close up to the animal pens . Biggest annoyance today was in the soft play area . We took our one year old twins into the under 3 area which would have been perfect had it not had multiple older children in there jumping around , a couple of them were aged 7 plus . This is down to parents allowing them in when they have plenty of age appropriate areas for themselves. Would be nice if a member of staff could occasionally check on that and maybe ask the older ones to go in their own area .

Whole day spent with the family; 3 generations all enjoyed the day.
Space to move, great exhibits, animal enclosures built for the animals!
Plenty of space to stop, sit and view the enclosures.
Knowledgeable staff. The talks/ displays were very good; kept us engaged, from 70 to 8 years old.
Staff managed the traffic in and out of the Zoo really well, keeping everyone safe and within their sight.

Too much to see in one visit. Personally I loved the big cats, even though they were a bit sleepy when we went. Capybara were good but don't be scared of the dinosaurs.

The dinosaur collection was amazing the kids loved it and the miniature train taking visitors around the dinosaur enclosure was a brilliant idea. The paddling pool area was a great space for families especially in the hot weather. Would highly recommend a visit.

We’ve been loyal members here for years. Hertfordshire Zoo is a wonderful place for a family day out. The zoo is well-maintained, and the variety of animals is impressive, from exotic big cats to playful primates. The enclosures are spacious and seem designed with the animals' welfare in mind, which is always a top priority for me when visiting zoos.

The staff are knowledgeable and passionate about the animals, often sharing interesting facts and insights that really enhance the experience. The interactive exhibits, particularly the feeding sessions, are a highlight for children and adults alike.

However, there are a few areas that could be improved. Some of the facilities, like the changing rooms in the splash pad and restrooms, could use an update. Additionally, on busy days, the zoo and splash pad area can feel crowded, and it would be great if they offered more areas to relax in during hotter weather.

Overall, Hertfordshire Zoo is a great spot for animal lovers and families. With a few minor improvements, it could easily be a five-star experience.

My 8 year old daughter loves watching One Zoo Three so we planned a day trip to Hertfordshire Zoo during the summer holidays to see all the animals she loves watching on TV. We had a brilliant day. The World of Dinosaur’s was amazing and the zoo itself was brilliant with so many different viewing area’s to see the animals. We were very lucky our visit was also the day of the new Gibbon enclosure opening. My daughter was over the moon to meet Tyler - Thank you for taking the time to speak to us and have a photo.
