Massively overpriced. £3.80 for a hot chocolate? What's the markup on that? Like 800%? £2 for a 2 minute train ride? They're taking in around £400 an hour on that. And I just can't bear to see all the wild animals in small cages being peddled for profit. The poor zebra, in an area about a quarter of an acre, half of it a concrete slab, does not represent anything close to its natural environment. It was also the only zebra I could see, and zebras are extremely social animals. This one appeared to be suffering from severe depression.

An incredible zoo with wonderful enrichment for the animals and really cleverly constructed enclosures and walk ways to view the animals discretely from many different aspects. There’s also a couple of play parks and a great dinosaur park to walk round. We filled 5 hours easily and that only included one of the keeper talks that happen every half an hour. There’s even a soft play if it’s wet for no extra cost. My 4 year old and seven year old had a fantastic day!
Lunch in the diner was quick and reasonable priced for a captive audience. If we lived nearby I would definitely buy membership.

We won a tour of paradise park earlier in the year and decided to use the voucher this half term. Booking was made very easy. When we arrived we were well looked after in the discovery centre. However the star was definitely Simon! I can not praise this man enough. He was very enthusiastic and passionate about the animals and was incredible with my two young daughters. He showed us around the park and we got a chance to hold/feed some animals. Simon along the way was very polite and provided great educational points along with a warm manor with my 4 year old. The food was actually really good compared to most other parks/zoos we have visited.
There was a lot of attractions for the whole family. And we would definitely revisit.

Thank you paradise park and a bigger thank you to Simon.

We decided to buy annual passes. So we come maybe once a month for an afternoon out. Having been a few times there is no need to rush around as we seen everything before. After 4 visits it works out to be a free day out. The food is extremely expensive do take a packet lunch £8.50 for a jacket potatoVisited on

Another lovely event at Paradise Wildlife Park. The After Dark Dinos evening was a hit with the little ones getting their photos taken with the ‘dinosaurs’, having their faces painted, playing miniature golf (for a small additional fee), and walking round the dinosaurs, which felt more realistic at night. The silent disco with inflatable dinosaurs and glow puppet show at the end topped off the evening.

The majority of the animals in the park were well cared for but the area with farm/domestic animals was a disappointment. It seemed like an afterthought. The enclosures were poor (for example sheep on a mix of concrete and mud with no enrichment), there seemed to be rabbits and guinea pigs and possibly a chinchilla housed alone and the guinea pigs had very small amounts of low quality hay the majority of which was on the ground and wet. We checked back a few times and they had not been given more. The enclosures for the more exotic species were excellent and the dinosaur exhibit was fun as well. I think they should focus on what they do well and not have the domestic area at all. It's a shame because in all other respects the park was a great day out. Lovely staff, good value for money and a good selection of reasonably priced food.

One of the best places I've been recently! Had loads to entertain my 9, 3 and 1 year old. Wasn't too busy, barely any queuing and decent priced food and drink. World of Dinosaurs was a massive hit with the kids along with the many play areas. Will definitely be bringing them back again.Visited on

Nice, clean, friendly staff. Shame the animals were hard to see but I expect that was due to the rain.Visited on

Nice enough Zoo. We had two free entrance tickets so only needed to pay for children (11 and 13). This zoo is definitely aimed at the younger children. So many young kids playgrounds, soft plays etc. The dinosaurs were interesting and children loved reading the facts about them. More information would have been better. The models were very realistic and moved. The animals are really nice. It was great to see so many big cats.
But....

The zoo is small for the entrance fee. You see everything in 4 hours.
Colchester zoo charges much less and is in comparison massive.

Yes we had a nice day out due to the free tickets. But would we return? No. It's not aimed at older children and there is not enough to see to go back anytime soon.

Great place for the whole family and plenty to keep the kids entertained. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is due to the unnecessary repetitive noises and jurassic park theme tune continuously playing throughout the dinosaur part. It really spoils the experience, and tbh all I could think the whole time was them poor Wolves having to put up with it.

We went on a Saturday in early October, grandparent with 2 families including 3 grandchildren under 5 arriving from 3-directions. It’s expensive, but we were there for 5-hours. The dinosaur walk is animatronic and impressed a sceptic like me. The 3-yr old balked at the 2 T-Rex display which was loud, so be prepared. The zoo itself has White Lions, Tigers, Jaguars and Bears in large paddocks. We watched the Bird of Prey display, feeding the penguins and there were other talks going on. The restaurant sold burgers but also had a few veggie options and a kids menu including sausages including a pasta dish. The self-service was remarkably quick considering the volume. There is a kids playground, but I was sitting down exhausted minding the baby by that stage.

Helped by remarkably good weather for October the Wildlife Park was much better than I’d expected. They ask you to pre-book online.
