Haverhill Summer Bash 2015 is just around the corner!

Remember recently I talked about discovering what Haverhill has to offer for those of you opting for a ‘staycation’ this summer?

Well the third annual Haverhill Summer Bash is exactly the kind of thing I was talking about!

Firstly, worry not. I’ve checked the weather forecast for you and am assured over several websites that we can expect a very pleasant 22 degrees, sunny with only a slight risk of rain.

I’ve noticed on these UK weather sites that wherever you search for whatever date, there is always this ‘slight risk of rain’ proviso when sunshine is predicted… I’d say they were simply covering their backs!

But there is good reason to be optimistic for a glorious day of family fun at the Haverhill Summer Bash 2015.

Organised by Haverhill photographer, David Doughty @ The Gallery, with a committee of hard working volunteers, the Summer Bash is already established as one of Haverhill’s summer highlights, and this year promises to be bigger and better than ever, with local businesses and organisations being amazingly generous with their sponsorships, grants and raffle prize donations.

Haverhill’s very own A List celebrity Patsy May (a personal friend of Ant and Dec and Simon Cowell since her triumphant ‘four yeses’ on Britains Got Talent) will be performing and meeting her adoring public at the Event thanks to sponsorship from Dizzy's Day Nursery. Patsy May has assured us that although she doesn’t do autographs she will happily pose for selfies before she returns to her VIP Suite at Haverhill Days Inn.

Now, whilst Patsy May can obviously never be upstaged, we are beyond excited to be welcoming a Global megastar of the big screen to the Haverhill Summer Bash.

Thanks to sponsorship by Happy Faces Preschool, we will have a Minion in our midst! These little guys are anything but Despicable and have now taken the world by storm, starring in their very own Hollywood blockbuster. Speculation is rife as to which of the Minions will be taking the time out to fit Haverhill into their busy schedule, will it be Kevin, Stuart, Bob or Jerry? Be sure to come along and find out.

The Summer Bash is your chance to show off your skills (and your competitive side!). Enter a table arrangement for a dinner party for eight in the Flower Show, sponsored by Fiona’s or if your skills are in the kitchen then show off your cupcakes! The Summer Bash Cake Show is sponsored by thebestof Haverhill member Angela Wilson Bookkeeping and Payroll Services .

Or maybe your pooch is your pride and joy? Crufts standards are not required, we like the quirky, the cutest and the cleverest trick type dogs, so there’s bound to be a category for even my scruffy little furball!

There will be vintage and classic cars on display, headed up by ‘Del Boy’ in his iconic Trotters Independent Traders classic three wheeler. Another not to be missed photo opportunity!

We here at thebestof Haverhill are delighted to be sponsoring the Gallery Baby Show. For teeny tiny newborns to adorable 4 year olds, we love them all. Entry is on the day and there are lots of prizes to be won.

There will also be a children's treasure hunt and a craft tent with entertainment including a circus workshop, sports activities and tug of war, plus a Raffle with some fantastic prizes to be won.

The gates will be open for the Summer Bash Car Boot from 8am. No need to book, just turn up at the Rec with your £6 for cars and £10 for vans. Clear that clutter and make some summer spending money.

And don’t forget the Haver5 Fun Run goes under starters order at 10.00am. You don’t have to be Mo Farah to take part, you just have to finish the course to get your medal and goody bag!

Haverhill’s Summer Bash is a real community Event, proven by help and contributions from One Haverhill, Haverhill Arts Centre, Travis Perkins and of course the tireless work by local photographer David Doughty in putting the event together with his team of trusty volunteers.

So head to Haverhill Recreation Ground this Sunday 19th July for a jam packed, fun filled family day out, 8am (for car boot) 10am (for showday) til 4pm where the sun WILL shine!
