Fermain Valley Hotel is on the east coast of the island towards the south, a few miles from St Peterport.

It's a very good hotel in a beautiful location with an indoor swimming pool and beautiful gardens rolling down towards the Fermain Bay Beach.

It has two restaurants and a tea room. The Rock Garden restaurant is a steak house type eatery which also provided vegetarian food. It has its own bar as does the Ocean Restaurant.

The Ocean Restaurant is also good with a good selection of meals and daily specials and both restaurants are popular with both residents and locals, so it may be advisable to book ahead for your meal. Food portions are generous in both restaurants. In the right weather, meals can be taken outside. Breakfast is good.

I'd advise checking to see if either of the restaurants is open on specific days. There are a number of good eating establishments in St Peterport too.

A lift is available for those needing it and the hotel operates a courtesy bus service.

The hotel has it's own parking with additional parking at its sister venue at the top of the hill

Service was very good and staff were helpful and friendly.

Bedrooms are restful and well equipped. They are cleaned and replenished daily. Rooms are not overly large but are perfectly adequate. Our room had a balcony and those rooms below us had bigger balconies. We had an excellent view down the valley to the sea.

Because of the recent hot spell our room did get hot and remained so during the day. It could probably benefit from a small quiet Dyson Noiseless fan or an Aircool 24 silent air conditioning box (suggested to hotel).

Apart from that we had a great stay and would definitely stay here again.

A superb hotel as long as you are NOT in the annex! The annex is over 300 paces and a few minutes walk uphill from reception and the main hotel. The main hotel has the best rooms as they have the views over the lovely gardens and cove.
The annex is situated by the main road, so you get the noise from the road.
The hotel should be called the Fermain AND Valley hotel as the hotel and annex could easily be two separate hotels.
I stayed for a few days and thought the staff were very nice, the food was really good and the situation was lovely,
There is a short walk down to the cove where there a excellent cafe restaurant.
If I had stayed in the main hotel my review rating would have been a 4.

Nice hotel but very expensive rooms if you want a view other than a car park or trees right in front of the window.

Sauna out of action
Swimming pool too hot to use

Nicer less expensive hotels elsewhere

My room was clean, comfortable bed, fresh fruit, Tea and coffee facilities. There are 3 restaurants and the Breakfast is excellent a very good selection of food and drink. The gardens are beautiful to walk through to get the bus. The Hotel has a complimentary mini bus that will pick you up and drop off at Airport and Town. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I had 6 lovely holiday days there.

I have been coming to Guernsey for years and absolutely love this island. This was my first stay at the Fermain Valley Hotel and I must say that I loved everything about it. I had a fantastic view from my balcony, very good food in its various restaurants, including an excellent afternoon tea on the terrace. The pool was quite warm but large enough to actually swim. The location of the hotel is great, giving you access to the best cliff walks, beautiful bays and gardens and a bus stop around the corner to get you into town in a few minutes. That is if you do not want to use the hotel's driver which is an excellent service.
All staff have been friendly and helpful, travelling on my own I have never felt out of place here which I have at other hotels. I will definitely return next year, miss it already.

3 couples in our group stayed in this lovely hotel, in a beautiful setting, wander through the gardens, down to the cove, relax on the terrace or in a beautifully decorate room. This small hotel has everything you need for your stay on Guernsey, Courtsey car Damien drove us a couple of times and was excellent , nothing was too much for him, (you will need to book this as it gets very booked up, especially on a Sunday when everything else shuts down and the local taxis are busy) there is a bus around the island or into St Peters Port at the top of the road, very convenient. It is also just a 15 min drive from the airport. We ate in the Ocean Bar Grill, once for an evening meal which was really very good, for breakfast, again really nice and then late afternoon on the terrace before leaving again very good. The service is top notch, polite, friendly and not at all pretentious. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for central location away from the hustle and bustle of the town.

This hotel has a complementary service to drop off and pick up from the local town. Has some great restaurants and friendly staff, probably needs some aircon during this hotel summer. Has a great outside area for drinks and food overlooking the sea view. We swam in their indoor pool which was lovely.

Bathroom was a little 'tired' and in need of updating, but the room was pleasant. Staff were accommodating. Dined in the rock garden and the ocean restaurant and both were of a good standard. Grounds were very interesting and well kept.

The front of the hotel is a court area and as such noise coming from guests seated at the tables outside the bar area and the sound of vehicles arriving was amplified. Therefore do not expect a night of unbroken sleep.

Overall, a better than average long weekend and would consider returning here again in the future.

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights. Our room was lovely, but small. Sweet double doors to a small terrace where we took our breakfast each morning. As breakfast was included in our room charge, we asked that it be brought up (5 pound charge-reasonable). Just hang the sign on the door before bed and your breakfast arrives at your scheduled time with very friendly service. The bed was a bit hard for me but better than being too soft. Room was made up daily.

The front desk personnel could not be more helpful. Each and every one went out of his or her way to be accommodating and interested in our well being. Karol even drove us to the airport when the hotel van was not available.

The grounds are lovely, there are small, out of the way places to sit and take in the trees and sky and the view of the water in the distance. The pool is very interesting, open to the air one side, yet still indoors.

Just a short walk down a very steep hill (and don't forget you have to walk back up) is the most beautiful beach with a café. Unbelievably surprising to come upon it, a bit of heaven.

We ate at two of the restaurants. One outside and the steakhouse inside. Both were very good, lovely and happy servers. Good food, presentation and value. We don't usually eat at hotels but we were very happy with these choices.

Everything was perfect in this charming hotel. Staff were unobtrusively friendly and professional and Operations Manager Daniel was really helpful & knowledgeable about the island, especially good places to eat, but you don't really need to leave the hotel since their Ocean restaurant and Rock Garden steakhouse serve up excellent food in a great ambience, plus they have a delightful tea room where the scones are superb! Breakfast was good, with plenty of choice to suit a range of tastes.
Rooms aren't big but they are spotless and there is a charming little library tucked away behind the tea room where you can relax with after dinner drinks.
Fermain Bay at the end of a short walk though hotel gardens is gorgeous though the beach is stony. There is a bus stop at the top of the road 5 mins away where you can catch the 91/92 bus which goes right around the island and is a great way to get a feel for the delights Guernsey has to offer - well worth the meagre £1 fare!
A real plus is the complimentary shuttle bus which picked us up from the ferry and left us back, and you can also book it to drop you into St Peter Port, though there is a great bus service too.

Stayed in a Gold room within the main hotel (Terrace on 1st floor). The rooms are generally on the small size with limited storage space for clothes or longer than a night or 2. On site staff were extremely helpful, whether this be room service, bar, restaurant or front desk. Ate one night in their new Mexican Restaurant - would NOT recommend it. Poor staff attitude

In hot weather it might be nice to have the swimming pool open on to the deck, albeit this would have to be limited to hotel guests only

This last visit was our second visit and it was even better than out first. The staff were exceptionally obliging and helpful, particularly with my wife's diet for medical reasons. The room we stayed in was roomy and beautifully placed to look down the valley towards the sea, with the island of Sark in the background. The courtesy car service into St Peter Port was prompt and efficient. Dining on the terrace or in the Ocean Restaurant was very pleasant and the waiting staff were well trained and pleasant.

We came back for our second holiday at Fermain Valley Hotel, having booked before we left last time! The staff balance professionalism with care and attention to our needs, and were especially helpful with my dietary requirements. A courtesy car is available for the airport, ferry, town etc. The view from the terrace across the bay is always changing and provides a relaxing outlook. The hotel is clean and comfortable, staff are always on hand, and the atmosphere is restful. Three restaurants give a variety of menus, although we stayed with the Ocean , the others offering steak or Mexican choices, which appeared to be equally popular. We’ll be going back again and thoroughly recommend this hotel.

On a sunny day you have beautiful views out to sea from the bar balcony.

The staff was very Curtious helpful and made the stay enjoyable .

I was in room 48 which is at the top of the hill not as good as being in the main building bit of a walk with luggage and detached from leisure facilities bar and restaurant, I would request main building next time i stay, and there will be a next time .

Thank you all

Nice selection of meats, prawns and roast vegetables. Plus four salads. Strawberries were disappointing with no taste.
Lovely leisurely lunch for 22.50 a head so will be back to soak up the sun again.

Stayed in the annexe. Small room, a little shabby, but a very comfortable bed and a well appointed bathroom. However, a lack of attention to detail, e.g. failure to replenish tea/coffee and to replace towels when indicated. Took two days to attend to a tv reported to be not working. Be warned that the noise from the road and the Mexican restaurant (in the same building) is not insignificant.
Breakfast was uninspiring - more like a business hotel. The restaurants did not appeal due to their bland and limited menus, which was particularly disappointing in a place with exceptional sea food available elsewhere.
The staff in the Ocean restaurant at breakfast were pleasant and helpful.

My good lady wife and I spent a four day break at this hotel, and what a hotel it is, absolute pleasure, staff impeccable in every way, can’t do enough for you, only stayed on a B&B holiday but ate in the restaurant twice, the food is stunning, cooked to perfection and served with superb manners by wonderful staff, the rooms are spacious with large tv, tea, coffee, biscuits, fruit and even a bottle of sherry for you to enjoy, I would certainly go back for a longer break just to enjoy the pleasure this place gives you

A group of us (13) stayed at the hotel for a weekend when working in Guernsey. We loved it from start to finish. The rooms were immaculate with everything that you could possibly need including some well recieved sherry! There was an excellent tea selection, biscuits, fruit, chocolates and water as well as lovely toiletries.
Breakfast was excellent as was the dinner in Buho. We had lovely cocktails on the first evening on the terrace after a swim in the pool. We thoroughly enjoyed the surroundings and had a lovely walk down to the sea as well as walking round the town and visiting castle cornet. Thoroughly recommend.

This hotel is in a stunning location, the grounds are very attractive and the interiors are extremely well presented. Rooms are spacious and luxurious. A particularly nice touch was the decanter of sherry in the room! Food was excellent, really top notch. Swimming pool is small but clean and relaxing, with a small sauna too. There is access to a bay via a short walk, with a cafe, beach and good swimming (this is second hand info, some others from my party made it down there)
All in all a fantastic hotel, highly recommended.

Having just spent a week here I can vouch for the hotel's 4 star status. We travelled as two couples, with adjoining gold rooms. Each was comfortable with lovely toiletries and additional touches like fresh fruit and sherry decanters in the rooms. The 3 on site restaurants are super and the hotel staff were most kind and obliging, nothing was too much trouble. We ate at one of the restaurants every night of our 7 night stay. Breakfast was delicious. The pool, where we swam every morning, was very clean and warm. We will back. Thank you for a memorable holiday on a lovely island.

4 years ago stayed in the annex, but this time went for the platinum room which made all the difference, previous review hereby redundant. Lovely relaxing, classy hotel with 3 in house restaurants. Great choice of breakfast, tried most, all fresh and well cooked. Great reading areas including a classic library with leather chairs. We will be returning to Guernsey in 3 months time just for the hotel

OK, so perhaps it was the gorgeous gardens both above and below the hotel.
Or maybe it was picturesque Fermain Bay at the bottom of the valley.
Or the location providing a scenic cliff walk into town/the harbour plus quick return by road.
Or possibly the great room with a balcony.
Or the very large flagon of sherry (“just help yourself”) in the room.
Or the mega breakfast selections – cold and hot.
Or the delicious dinners (and the chef will even customize a meal if s/he’s not too busy).
Or the friendly service, including transfers in and around the town.
Or…maybe all of the above.
Do I need to say any more?

We spent 5 days here and had a lovely time. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Had many a long conversation with some of them
Our room was spacious, very clean and everything worked. Robes and slippers provided. A very good tea tray with lots of options. Fine soaps and lotions in the bathroom. Also, one of the most powerful showers I have ever experienced.
We dined on several occasions in the Ocean restaurant. Top notch cooking with a quality menu. I thought it was very reasonably priced taking into account that this was top end dining. Even the wine was at a good rate. The breakfasts served were also varied and delicious. Every taste is catered for. But, one of the best bits for me, is that there is no intrusive music playing whilst dining.
The hotel car will run you round to locations if it is free or you can book it with reception.
Sitting outside is lovely. Looking down onto the gardens and out towards the bay.
The hotel is about a thirty minute walk into St. Peter Port but there is a bus route nearby on the main road. It only costs a £1 whether you want to go one stop or completely round the island. This is so much cheaper than hiring a car and also it means you can have a drink.
Simply, it was great. However, here is a tip for those who are light sleepers. On three of the five days we stayed, there was fog out to sea. The fog horns can be heard in the rooms even with the windows shut. Didn't bother me but others who might be sensitive should take ear plugs just in case.

We had a great stay at the Fermain valley Hotel ,very friendly staff who went out of their way to make sure you enjoyed your stay ,a special mention for Damien such a lovely man who took us to where ever we wanted to go .
Rooms were very comfortable and clean ,would recommend getting a sea view room as the views down to the bay were fab.
Lovely meal in the Rock garden last night and would highly recommend having an afternoon tea .
