This was our first time on Guernsey ... and what a gem of an island. Beautifully clear and warm days, glorious sunsets, wide unspoilt beaches .... and the Fermain was a fantastic base from which to explore the island. Great and personalised service, lovely rooms with views down the wooded valley to the sea, multi level outside “served” area throughout the day and a wonderful restaurant.

Stayed here for long weekend. Hotel very smart, beautiful location tucked away in a valley just outside of St. Peter’s port. very friendly staff. Very clean and tidy. Nothing too much trouble. Room had everything we needed including a stunning view out to sea through the tree tops. Very good breakfast with a wide choice. Everything fresh and very yummy.
Three restaurants to choose from Mexican, steak house and ocean bar, we ate in the ocean bar and grill as it had everything we wanted, including a perfectly cooked steak. Yum!! Room service was excellent.
Swimming pool was a welcome relaxing treat after a good walk down to St. Peter port. Sad to leave.

A real treat!!

Four nights in a platinum suite at the Fermain Valley hotel. Well deserved four star hotel, with its small but ideal indoor pool and a location for people who want to walk the coast line and take in the fresh air. Wonderful views from the hotel room and first class service throughout the stay.
Thank you

On arrival we were greeted on reception by a pleasant young lady ,who after checking us in took us along to our room. The room was lovely, the balcony overlooking the gardens and the bay. Nice little touches like a bowl of fruit and a decanter of sherry, which incidentally was topped up each day.
Really enjoyed our stay everything was great. A big thank you to all who made our stay so good...

We’ve been coming to Guernsey the last few years and stayed at the Fermain Valley the last 3 trips. Great service by the team at reception and in the restaurants. 3 high quality restaurant options and the restaurant manager is an excellent host - very friendly - great menu options - gluten free no problem. Great to have the use of the hotel pick up service down into St Peters Port and lovely cinema facility to watch a favourite dvd - we used it 3 times !

I booked this hotel purely based on the lovely photos and reviews but the experience we had was so much more!
I booked this as a treat for my Mum who was born in Guernsey and hadn’t been back since she left aged 2 or 3 years old. Upon arrival, the very friendly receptionist helped us locate places we’d hoped to visit from a family photo album and couldn’t have been more accommodating.

The driver service was incredible and nothing was too much of an ask, whether you wanted to pop into town or be picked up from a day out - they were always keen to help.

The food was outstanding, we had dinner in The Rock Garden and it was one of the best meals we have ever had.
We headed up to the Mexican restaurant afterwards, where the pathway from the hotel is lit up for you to follow, we enjoyed some cocktails from a very friendly bar team!

The breakfast which is included in your stay was again, outstanding! Freshly cooked when you ordered and plenty to choose from.

A lovely walk down to Fermain Bay!

I have honestly never received such amazing service 24/7 throughout my stay at any other hotel.

I will be sure to stay again when I visit Guernsey, and will most definitely be eating at the rock garden again too!

Just returned from a lovely afternoon tea, it was given a a gift, & I must admit I was not looking forward to going!
As had been once before a couple of years ago!& was not impressed!!
However I was pleasantly surprised, the sandwiches had a nice assortment of fillings, the scones were still warm, and there was nice selection of little cakes...
Staff were all very pleasant..
Would definitely recommend..

I had a very enjoyable 4- night stay in a platinum room with balcony and a superb view to the east. There is no doubt that this is a quality hotel, with excellent breakfasts, prepared to order, and delightful staff. However, although it stands out from hotels such as Jerbourg, which has comparable rooms at a cheaper rate, but awful breakfasts, it is not better than, for example, La Piette, in Town, which is quite a lot less expensive. Having said this, I really could not fault Fermain Valley. I suspect that rooms with a view might, in warmer weather, suffer noise from the patio below, but I did not experience this. Aircraft fly fairly low over the hotel in the day time, which might also worry some people - not me.

From the Ratings and Reviews and comparisons with its peers on the Island, we thought we had this nailed. 20+ mins from the Airport, down a steep single file lane (quiet and min traffic), views straight out to sea, a bar, 3 Restaurants (traditional, Italian & Mexican), delightful walk down to the sea (cove) through their gardens (or not). There was also a cliff-top walk. Courtesy bus/car ride into St Peter Port. Really well designed and maintained Gardens above and below the main Building. Heated in-door pool and acres of decking & sunloungers.

Sadly this year the weather has been very unkind, so the rain (and mud on the walks) did not help, but that it is not the Hotel's fault. Decking & sunlounger use, was off too. The Island was incredibly photogenic, peaceful, quiet, green and mild - and wet.

Now with all these things going for it (excluding the weather) ..........

Well its the little things that can detract:
- Booked table in the restaurant with seaview (yes, I knew it would be dark then in January, but hey ho). Nothing reserved for us, in any of them, when we arrived. Mistakes happen. No drama. We ate there anyway and had a reasonable meal, but equally nothing very special either.

- Heat in our Room was unbearable and everytime we got the temp down (invariably opening the patio doors and window to do so), we found on our return that it had been ramped-up and all doors & windows firmly shut.

- The Hotel is directly ON the Airport Flightpath, so one heard every plane as it passed overhead at less than 1,000 ft. 06.30 was first arrival each morning. Departures were louder but due to steepness of the ascent, they tended to be at a greater height.

- Polite request to a Barman for the very loud music to be turned down was met with a firm and terse "It cant'".

- Quiet lounge round the corner was difficult to use as it invariably was populated by small children eating pancakes or waffles and the aroma of their cooking was over-powering.

- The price charged was for a far higher level than we experienced.

On a lighter note - breakfast was good/verygood. Room was bright cheery, clean and comfortable with a cute balcony (rain prevented use), and nice shower, and we slept well every night (of 3) until 06.30

We cam here two days running for afternoon tea.

Quality = excellent, staff = excellent, location = very excellent.

The hotel has a high standard of decoration throughout.

The hotel is an hour's coastal walk from St Peter Port (how we chose to get there) and offers great sea views in a country coastal location. If you prefer it is also a really short walk from the bus stop (£1 fare) that takes you to the airport and town in little more than quarter of an hour.

Have just returned from a fabulous two night break at the Fermain Valley Hotel and cannot fault the hotel in anyway. The hotel is in a beautiful position at the top of the Fermain Valley with breathtaking views from the front of the hotel.
We were actually in a room at the rear of the hotel which overlooked a lovely rock garden although I believe some rooms may overlook the Carpark .... Can recommend room 42
All rooms come with a decanter of sherry! Fruit and lovely White Company toiletries.
We ate at the Ocean Reatsurant one evening and the Rock the second ... Both excellent however I would recommend that you make reservations in advance as they are popular with both the hotel guests and Guernsey residents.
Breakfast was lovely with a great choice including traditional English breakfast , kippers, eggs florentine, benedict, pancakes and more .... Plus a great buffet of cereals, pastries, meats and fruit.
The hotel has a tearoom which appeared to be lovely however we didn't have time to visit it.
The beach cafe also belongs to the hotel and we strolled down through the hotel's lovely gardens and woodlands to enjoy a glass of wine as the sun set. We had left London as the Beast from the East was bringing the country to a standstill and so were pleased to find that it was warm enough to sit outside and enjoy our glass of wine and enjoy the spectacular view ... made even better when the waitress brought us a selection of nibbles to enjoy and blankets to wrap up in .... Perfect.
The hotel also has a lovely indoor pool!
All the staff were very attentive without being overbearing.
I cannot wait to go back .. It was fabulous.,

We visited in March as a couple. We couldn’t get in the Mexican or the Steakhouse, testament they are good I guess as we’re both booked. Ate in the ocean which was superb. The staff from the airport complimentary pick up, to the reception, bar and restaurant staff, are all friendly, helpful and professional. Even though it’s a 40min walk from town, the free shuttle to literally anywhere, and s great bus service from the top of the road, means you can get about very easy. Nice pub tea at the queens pub 10min walk away. We will be back, have enjoyed it so much.

Currently staying in a Gold Room, beautiful view of the sea. Room clean and well appointed. Decanter of sherry filled daily, with fruit and chocolates on arrival. A complimentary bottle of sparkling and still water per person per day. Plenty of choice at breakfast. We have eaten in The Rock Garden, possibly the best steak ever in England!! The food in the Ocean restaurant also very good, along with attentive service. Tea room serving lovely cakes alongside a relaxing lounge with fire. Also an indoor heated swimming pool, clean changing rooms and showers.

We stayed for 4 nights and couldn't fault the service we received. The staff were so accommodating and friendly. The food is really great and they have 3 restaurants - recommend booking in advance though. We stayed in a gold double room which had a balcony and lovely views. You get some good perks, tea/coffee facilities replenished daily, water, paper and sherry! However the rooms are smaller than the pictures suggest and the bath is tiny but the shower water pressure is fantastic!!
I would highly recommend this hotel and we will definitely be staying here again if we go back to Guernsey.

A lovely hotel 20 mins walk from St Peter Port (or hop on no. 95 bus for a £1) and just 10 mins walk to the shops in St Martins. The hotel has stunning views into Fermain Valley - we explored the coastal paths (take a map though) with lovely views to Sark / Herm and beyond to Jersey. The Rock Garden Restaurant has the best steaks (as good as Red in St Peter Port) but book early! The hotel has a small pool (children friendly), lovely lounge & library. We'll be back for sure. Just one thing - it needs a better website.

We have just spent the weekend at the hotel which was part of deal flying over from Jersey. The hotel is in a lovely position overlooking Fermain Valley and only 20 minutes walk from St Peter Port. The hotel offers a courtesy coach/car which picked us up at the airport and returned us on our departure. They also take guests into St Peter Port and will pick them up before midnight if you want to eat in town. The hotel is very clean and the rooms comfortable with coffee making facilities. There are three restaurants at the hotel. We had a drink in two of them and a meal at Buho, Mexican Restaurant, which was excellent. From what we were told the restaurants are very popular with the locals so it is probably best to book ahead of your arrival. The staff are all most helpful and friendly. The breakfast, which was included in our deal, offered a varied choice and was very good. All in all a lovely hotel and we will go back.

Quick one night stay in February. Room was spacious and clean. Nice beds, large pillows and sky TV (although mounted on the wall a little low) The shower was very good. Staff were friendly, polite and courteous. They even ferried us a couple of times, free, into the town in their mini bus.
The bar had some great cocktails at reasonable prices.
The breakfast was also very pleasant with a nice wide choice.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

We went on Saturday afternoon and spent some time in the sauna and pool and then had a lovely dinner in the evening and spent the night to make a weekend of it. We were warmly welcomed by the reception staff and showed to our room, which was most comfortable and had everything you could need. The dinner was very tasty, well presented and good portions and the restaurant staff were friendly and well versed with the dishes of the day. The restaurant was fully booked, but we weren't disappointed with the friendly and timely service. The breakfast the following morning was delicious with a varied choice of both continental and cooked food. It was a lovely way to spend a winter weekend.

We went there with family on christmas eve as a family group. Young and not so young, but all adults. We ate in the Ocean bar and grill. It was the first time I had eaten there other than on the terrace in the summer .On arrival We all felt that it lacked completely the festive spirit. The restaurant in winter does not have a relaxing atmosphere, it is what it is, a hotel dining room. The food that came out sounded better on the menu than it was on the table. I think we all expected more from a four star hotel. They do need to work at creating an atmosphere on these occasions .I will be back, but to try their Rock garden restaurant which I have heard is very good.

My husband and I have stayed at Fermain Valley a few times and decided to stay slightly longer this time for Christmas & New Year. We are always happy to return and I have already emailed to enquire future availability. The staff are always friendly and show an interest in your stay. Christmas lunch was served in Ocean Restaurant. We chose different options for our courses but everything was superb and the service and live music was excellent. Boxing Day dinner was served in The Rock Garden and again the service and food was excellent. It was really nice to have a change of venue for Boxing Day dinner – just for a change of scenery and also to sample the amazing steaks they have on offer. The guest lounge is very comfortable and the tea room has an amazing selection of cakes. Breakfast selection has plenty of options and is served with a smile and excellent customer service. The trimmings as part of the Christmas package (hot toddy on the beach, Christmas stocking, Herm boat trip, Christmas films and Queens Speech in the cinema) were lovely extras. We had a platinum room which was extremely well furnished and luxurious – so comfortable we didn’t want to return home. To us this hotel feels a home from home and that’s why we keep coming back. Thank you to Gavin, Claire, Daniel, Viera, Greg, Danny, Josh B, and the rest of the Fermain Family for looking after us so well and making our reservation so easy and our stay so relaxing and memorable. See you again soon.

“Excellent service dedicated to satisfaction”
Pending review
We have just returned from the Fermain Valley Hotel having spent Christmas here.
It was clear from the moment we the;phoned the hotel that service was a pride they valued. This service was re echoed for the whole of our stay from start to finish. The Ocean Restaurant staff gave excellent service with a smile and conversation and at all times showed interest in their guests. My wife had a couple of days illness and they enquired of her and were only to pleased to offer extra service. The set menu if your tastes are reduced could be limiting for a longer stay, but I spoke to Vlad the catering
manager who is set on increasing he ranges. Customer satisfaction is extremely high on his list of priorities. The Rock Garden restaurant offered excellent steaks, try the Brazilian Fillet. Our Silver room was well appointed, clean & tidy and well looked after with a complimentary decanter of Sherry and fruit as a welcome treat. Also, ,unlike some hotels tea and coffee facilities were fully & plentifully serviced . The Tea Room is useful for light snacks tea & coffee and a small lounge, and if a book is required a cruise liner style library is well appointed. I did have a problem on one day, this was discussed at a meeting with the manager and section manager and the outcome was very professionally dealt with to my satisfaction. The courtesy cars were an excellent addition to our satisfaction, even when for £1 you can travel any distance on the local buses which stop nearby. Finally a fully equipped cinema with a library of fils is available to see your favourite film on a big screen.. One can only compliment the staff and management on a business that makes it's mark through customer satisfaction and confidence.

Loved our stay at this beautifully set hotel with it's picturesque views. Our room was at the top and rather hot,the windows opened but not very wide so air could not circulate very well. But very clean & spacious. We asked for a fan which was given to us but Aircon definitely is needed if summers are going to be as hot as it is this year.
We tried the Rock Garden steak restaurant and it was very good food, my steak was cooked just as I liked it.
The Ocean Restaurant was beautifully decorated & the food again was superb. We thought all the staff were very good throughout our stay.
We would go back again but maybe try another room with a balcony.

Ticking all the boxes makes for a perfect stay.
OK, so perhaps it was the gorgeous gardens both above and below the hotel.
Or maybe it was the picturesque bay at the bottom of the valley
Or the location providing a scenic cliff walk into town/the harbour plus quick return by road.
Or possibly the great room with a balcony.
Or the very large flagon of sherry (“just help yourself”) in the room.
Or the mega breakfast selections – cold and hot.
Or the delicious dinners (and the chef will even customize a meal if s/he’s not too busy).
Or the friendly service, including transfers in and around the town.
Or…maybe all of the above.
Do I need to say any more?

One of the best meals I have ever had at the Fermain Valley. And the most lethal cocktails. Lol. Have dined here with family, friends and with work. Have also been to works functions in the hotel and it's a great venue. Walked up to St Martins from town and popped in with my Mum for a latte. She loved it
