Had a fabulous quiet and peaceful mid-week stay at the Fermain Valley Hotel - were upgraded free of charge to a larger room with sea views which really made our stay with a newborn baby more comfortable and manageable! Rooms were clean and well maintained by the lovely staff (really appreciate them emptying our nappy bin we'd bought with us). Had breakfast both mornings with a good selection of hot and cold foods, and one night at Buho Mexican restaurant which was very tasty!

A super stunning Hotel with a picturesque location. A beautiful retreat near to the town of St Peter port a shuttle service is available, Stunning views and good access to walking trails. Hotel is elegant without feeling stuffy, warm without being oppressive, welcoming without being kitschy, I felt that all the visitor touch points they got absolutely right. Room is very comfortable and well - appointed and the staff make you feel welcome from the moment you arrive, Especially the level of service, the restaurant staff and reception team provided excellent service. The food is fantastic 5 stars, presentation and choice, breakfast is outstanding. The room was immaculately clean and had everything needed provided with plenty of amenities like still water with tea and coffee facilities, dressing gowns and toiletry’s had a very comfortable stay. Some of the highlights an indoor pool and a tree top spa, restaurants and the gardens are beautiful. Most definitely would highly recommend and would stay again.

I'll be honest, reading some of the reviews here before my long weekend left me feeling quite apprehensive. Thankfully, I had the most wonderful stay. And think some people are just born moaners. The hotel is in a gorgeous location with stunning views and a lovely path down to the sea where I swam – bracing! – and warmed up at the excellent beach cafe. I had a Tree House Room and absolutely loved being in nature, the quiet and the space and style of the room – from the skylight shower to the radio pre-set to Classic FM and little private terrace. My cousins were also very happy with their rooms in the main house. And like me, though the staff at Fermain Valley were absolutely brilliant! Very helpful, fun and interesting! We were absolutely spoilt at our breakfasts – wanted for nothing and the chefs cooked our eggs to our wishes (they asked us how we wanted them done, not the other way around). We also tried out their Rock Garden Steakhouse. What a fun evening that was! We loved cooking our own food on hot stone – and even this vegetarian loved the restaurant (I cooked halloumi steaks). Finally, a shout out to the manager Carl Chapman. He went above and beyond to make sure we all had a great stay!

Had a lovely week in Guernsey and stay in the hotel. The hotel was clean and the staff very polite and friendly. However there a few things that are not mentioned when booking. We had a double deluxe room which was very nice with sea view but it stated there was a fridge but there wasn't. The hotel has three restaurants and three bars but what you are not told is that only one of each is open at any one time. I'm glad we weren't half board as one restaurant is Mexican which we don't like. One of the others is a steak restaurant but the food only comes with unlimited fries and salad. No other choice of potato veg. This is a sizzling stone restaurant as well so you have to cook the meal yourself. For which they add 12.5% discretionary service charge... We found out this was also added just to drinks ordered at the bar. One of the restaurants and bars is away from the main hotel and requires a walk through the car park which is on a hill and might not be suitable for people with mobility problems. Also not great if raining
The location of the hotel might not be suitable to some as on a steep hill and nothing much round it. We walked into at St Peter port in the day but not great in the evening and costs about £25 return taxi journey.
We were fortunate with the weather but there are no sun loungers at the hotel for you to use.
Would visit Guernsey again but not sure would stay in this hotel again due to the issue with lack of choice for dining.

To say my stay at the Fermain Valley Hotel was an eventful one is an understatement. Prior to our arrival the hotel contacted us to arrange airport pick ups and any other needs we had. We arranged an airport pickup and drop off, plus a drop off at a funeral on the second morning, the purpose of our visit. This all went according to plan, the driver was great, very helpful. We even got a lift into town on the first day as the buses were off due to school drop offs (3-4pm at School time the buses can apparently switch to being school buses without warning, download the bus app for live updates to check), we did manage to get a bus back.
Room 45, in the upper garden building, was spacious, a view of the main road, which wasn't too noisy, the beds were comfortable, and so were the chairs, the tv was a good size, needing two remotes to operate due to the sky tv, didn't watch much tv, but it worked well when we did. There were ample plug sockets in various parts of the room. A reasonable amount of storage space for our short stay.
The breakfast on the first morning was decent, the cooked breakfast was made freshly, the only disappointment was the black pudding was overcooked (literally my only complaint about the whole stay). The second morning saw a power outage across the section of the island, so cooked breakfast was off the menu, we accepted their apologies with the understanding that there really was nothing they could do about it and ate from the selection of cold options instead, there was plenty of choice. Fruits, cereals, breads, pastries, cold meats and cheeses (didn't try the last two options).
I asked for a packet of hot chocolate at reception, they said they'd bring it to my room, when someone arrived ~5 minutes later, they had a full cup of hot chocolate powder on a tray, as a hot chocolate lover this was like a Christmas present to me (knowing it would only go to waste, I bagged it up and took what was left home with me).
We went for a swim in the pool, we picked up our towels and headed down he stairs, the pool is small but you can get some lengths in in it, the changing room was equipped with a shower with shampoo and shower gel and a toilet.
The highlight of the hotel is definitely the Valley, there are many walking routes to follow, one even takes you all the way into the town. This is not a hotel for the lesser mobile, as there are steep hills all around it, you could ask the hotel to take you down to the beach in the minibus, if it's available. Personally, I enjoyed the challenge of walking up and down the hill to the beach.
All the staff were encountered were very friendly and helpful.
The WiFi was good, accessible throughout the hotel, decent speed, obviously the Internet did go down during the power cut, but the hotel was prepared with print outs of everything they needed.
It's the little things that stood out for me, the toiletries, including a razor, toothbrush and paste, flannels (which i did use), slippers, bathrobes, shampoo, shower gel, soap, etc. The puffins on the bed, were a nice touch. The island's airline magazine in the draw, the hotel's magazine on the table. The personal letter explaining everything on the desk. The options of teas and coffees and even milk type in the room, plus the biscuits.
We picked this hotel because it was literally the only option with two available rooms, to attend a funeral of my uncle who lived on the island, at short notice (less than two weeks notice). Thankfully that only option turned out to be not only a very good decision, but just happened to be a favourite spot of my uncle's, which helped give comfort to his widowed wife, bringing back happy memories in a time of sadness. I don't normally say thank you to the hotel staff in my reviews, but they were so brilliant, I have to thank them for everything they did for us during our stay. My family really enjoyed our stay, in difficult circumstances, even the power cut on pur fonal day didn't dampen our feelings of gratitude towards the hotel.

What an amazing stay at the Fermain Valley hotel. Utterly accommodating staff (bringing us toast to our room at 2300 as our journey had been so delayed and the kitchen was closed), delicious food, and knock-out views.
It's so rare to find hospitality staff who appear genuinely happy in their job....its cos they're all here at the Fermain. Every single member of staff from start to finish was relaxed, happy, helpful, and scrupulously polite.
The hotel is situated in a beautiful valley, a short, twisting walk through verdant woodland to a tiny, sheltered stony cove which almost feels like a private beach. My only regret is that our stay has been so short. I'd recommend it in a heartbeat.
Some other reviews have commented on the slightly dated décor; whilst that is perhaps true (the rooms having a bit of an early-noughties vibe) everything is clean, and furniture/ furnishings etc are high quality... the hotel has genuine charm and character compared to some soulless, high-end hotels.
Shout out to the amazing masseuse who made me feel like I was walking on cloud 9 after the most zen massage ever in the secluded woodland 'tree top' spa. She was so friendly and gave some really useful local tips about island life!
Lovely hotel, wonderful staff, unbeatable views.

Loved this place. So relaxing and comfortable. Staff are really friendly and helpful and the food is excellent. Don't usually go back to places we have already visited, but will definitely make an exception here. Highly recommend!

Lovely hotel, super staff, lovely breakfast. Buho Mexican very good. A good walk into town, but hotel does offer a shuttle service. Stayed 4 nights
Just one gripe, service charge for pouring two beers at the bar!

Woodland valley view room had a lovely view, the staff were very helpful and courteous, breakfast food was very good quality. Hotel's own vehicle picked us up from the airport and took us back. Couldn't really fault anything.

Only minor niggle was that their website stated a fridge was in every room when in fact they were only in the top tier rooms and unfortunately they had no others to provide us. So their website needs updating, but it was no big issue.

An excellent smaller hotel well worth it's 4 star rating. There are three restaurants - all good. I particularly enjoyed the mexican one called Buho. Staff are kind and helpful. My only small negative is that my room was quite warm. I discovered that it was over one of the kitchens.

Plenty of parking, park at the top of you're in the 'garden rooms'. Very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms comfy if a little small.
Coastal restaurant good, disappointed that pizzas not being served which made veggie choices very limited. I had the salmon which was lovely but the sauce was very lemony, which wasn't described on the menu (just said butter sauce) so my son, who also had the salmon was not keen. Breakfasts were excellent, lots of choice. Swimming pool a bit on the small side but fun to play in.

This hotel was excellent in many regards, and all staff that we had dealings with were exceptional. Food and service in the restaurants were of a particularly high standard, although we were surprised at how quiet the main restaurant was in the evenings. Room service and cleanliness was very good. We would have given this hotel a 5* review but unfortunately the room price was far too high for the size of room and facilities that were provided. The room was quite small in size, did not have air conditioning, nor the mini fridge that was listed on the room details page on the website. The other annoying feature is the fact that the website lists inaccurate restaurant wine lists prices, for example for half bottles of wines that the hotel says it has never sold.

All the staff were fantastic and nothing was ever too much trouble for them. The service was great too.
The hotel is in a gorgeous quiet spot surrounded by trees with beautiful gardens. It's conveniently located for St. Peter Port, either to walk the cliff path or use local buses.
I have coeliac disease and the care taken with making sure I had gluten free food was very good, I really appreciate this.
We enjoyed the Mexican restaurant which is open Tuesday to Saturday. There are three restaurants in all; two open each day. Breakfasts were exceptional; lots of choice and freshly prepared.

My wife and I have holidayed at the Fermain at least 6 times.
The reasons why we return?
Location, fabulous choice of restaurants, superb coastline and the friendliness and efficiency of the staff.
The Platinum Rooms are spacious, comfortable twinned with spectacular valley views.
No doubt we’ll return next year!

A lovely hotel. Staff very friendly. Rooms clean. Unfortunately lack of air conditioning spoilt our sleep.
Only one of their 3 restaurants are open at any one time. Tried the Mexican but it really wasn't for us, and food was wasted. Think the main restaurant should have been open more, as food was very good on the one day we were able to eat there.
If you wanted anything cooked at breakfast time, it took a long wait. Also tea and coffee was very slow in coming to table.

From arranged pick up from the airport to going home was faultless. The hotel was spotless in all areas. The staff were most helpful at all times, cheerful and willing to please. The breakfasts were well prepared and staff were very efficient. Nothing was too much trouble. Chris on reception was a master class. He was so helpful and knowledgeable and a great asset to the hotel. We ate in both restaurants. The Mexican themed one again well catered for with large portions of food. The staff were again willing to please. These were same staff seen in the breakfast areas. The steak hot stone restaurant I found to be a bit disappointing although staff again willing to please. On a personal note I would of preferred to have my steak cooked and then presented. My wife's fish was ok but the dish appeared confused especially she had two hot stones that never maintained their heat. Overall I would rate this hotel as one we would return to. The whole hotel outlook was excellent too especially from our room. Well done to all.
