Huge congratulations go out to the 21 year old Framlingham star, Ed Sheeran, who picked up the Best British Male and Best British Breakthrough awards at the Brits last night.
Locally raised Sheeran, has had an incredible run of success with a string of top five hits including The A Team and Lego House and a number one selling album.
Ed's career, which stared out self promoting his music and was noted on the BBC World Service emerging musicians scene, has rocketed to success with a string of top five hits and a number one selling album. His music which has a broad reaching appeal has infiltrated many homes and radio stations and he now finds himself up against music legends such as Noel Gallagher and Coldplay. Jessie J and even Adele, who just pipped him to the post for best British album with 21, are now Ed's closest contenders.
The Framlingham singer was also one of ten acts nominated for Best British Single last night but lost out to One Direction with their track What Makes You Beautiful.
Colchester band Blur also reformed for the Brit Award Ceremony and received the Outstanding Contribution prize. The Brit pop group made up of frontman Damon Albarn, guitarist Graham Coxon, bass player Alex James and drummer Dave Rowntree performed live songs.
