We had a lovely 1 night stay at The Sheldon, the owners made us feel very welcome and they have a really nice hotel with the added bonus of free parking. Our room was spotlessly clean and well appointed and the bed very large and comfortable. Breakfast served speedily and was delicious, in our view if we had to score out of 10 it would be 10. Thank you...............

A very comfortable stay and within walking distance of the theatres and the promenade. This hotel has an excellent parking area at the rear. The beds are extremely comfortable and the rooms refurbished to a high standard.

Last minute single room booking to meet friends in town. What a comfortable, friendly stay. Great location too, and even let me park the day of checkout while I finished my Christmas shopping. Will recommend to others, thank you!

My Husband and I spent 2 nights at The Sheldon the beginning of this week, I would highly recommend this Hotel, we had a double room that was a very Good size, bed was seriously comfy, slept like a log (which I rarely do away from home), Breakfast was very good, and the added bonus of parking really does make this Hotel a real gem. We will definitely be returning as are frequent visitors to Eastbourne to visit family.

We decided to use up some holiday and booked in at The Sheldon. We're so glad we did !! It's a family run business and there is a really nice feel about the place. Staff are friendly, the rooms are clean (and ours was massive) and the beds are to die for !!! Our bed was so comfy, we took photos of the labels to try and get the same mattress for at home - how sad are we ?? The breakfast is brilliant, so much choice and they can't accommodate enough. The fact that breakfast AND parking are included in the price makes it such good value for money. We will certainly book into The Sheldon again if we are ever in Eastbourne. It's close to the shops and the beach is at the end of the road. Can't ask for any more than that !!

Booked for an overnight stay in Eastbourne - Literally, phoned up spoke to the hotel, who confirmed room and would be available on our arrival an hour later. The room was lovely, updated, modern, with home comforts, free wi fi, flat screen tv, tea/coffee facilities etc. The bathroom although small was fine. The breakfast in the morning was superb, so much selection and all in the price of the room. I would definately stay there again. Thank you for fitting us in at short notice.

We went to Eastbourne for a 4 night stay in October and found the Sheldon to be excellent accommodation. On arrival we were up-graded from a Standard to a Superior room - at no extra cost! Incidentally, this was the biggest room we have ever had in any of the hotels we've visited over the years. Very comfortable and well laid-out.
The hotel, which is very close to the town centre, although easy to find if approached from the Prom, has a fair-sized car park although, it must be said, access is a little tight (6ft 2in high, not sure of the width.)
Owner Judith was most hospitable and her staff friendly and efficient. A minor problem with the shower was attended to quickly.
The breakfast - full English - was well presented, piping hot and very tasty. We loved the crockery so much that we've ordered some for ourselves! The only downside was that there wasn't any Worcestershire Sauce to sprinkle on the baked beans!
All-in-all, would we go there again? Definitely. Would we recommend the Sheldon to others? Definitely

Stayed here in October 2014 and whilst the hotel is reasonably ok, the room above the car park drivethrough was a little small and in desperate need of a paint. The walls had crayon over them and the skirting was chipped and badly scuffed. The sink also was cracked badly and the shower over the bath had black mould on the sloped ceiling above you.
However the owners and staff were both pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was lovely and cooked to order and we were very happy with the hotel generally. It also has excellent location with good parking out the back.

I stayed here for 2 nights and a very well managed business. Considering the owners Judith and Greg Brown have only been in charge for some 2 years, they have done wonders getting the high customer service standards, the building is well organised considering its age. Service and the presentation of breakfast was very good, like most recent reviews I would recommend this and will stay again if in the area.
Obviously they cater for families and during my stay only adults were there. They have a large lounge you can use so you do not have to stay in the bedroom if you so wish, plus the free Wi-Fi worked very well in the building

A lovely family run hotel which cannot do enough for you. It is ideally situated some 100 yards from the sea front yet only some 500 yards from the main shopping centre. It also has car parking which is at a premium in this area. The room was very comfortable, clean and roomy. Breakfast was first class, freshly cooked and with a good selection to satisfy most tastes. Our only negative was the lack of pressure when showering, however this didn't detract from a very enjoyable stay.

Stayed on a Saturday night and suitably surprised at how well this place has been prepared. It has the feel of a recent refurbishment with excellent beds, well laid out rooms which are generally easily accessible from the lift. Great breakfast in a lovely room as well. The walls are well soundproofed, despite being full we heard nothing from the other residents. As for Eastbourne itself, pretty boring. The main high street is a combination of pound land shops, charity and dodgy pubs. Not much to commend the area frankly, no wonder the hotel has worked so hard to make it nice just to stay in.

We enjoyed two nights at The Sheldon. It's not far from the sea front, and about a 10-15 minute stroll to the shops, so the location is great.
We loved the spacious room, which was simply but tastefully decorated. The bed was huge and so comfortable. It was two singles put together, so there was loads of room to stretch out. We were pleased to find a kettle and drinks in the room, and the ensuite was immaculately clean, although the shower was a bit small and it was hard to direct the shower head - it was stuck at a bit of a funny angle.
The breakfast was excellent - lots of cold options such as cereal, yoghurt, pastries and fruit - as well as cooked food. Toast was brought straight to the table, and Full English breakfast was provided, as well as a vegetarian option, and pancakes were also offered, which I loved.
The staff were very friendly, and the hotel has a great combination of period features and clean, modern decor. It's also a bonus that there is a car park, though it's quite tight to get in, and we only have a small car!
We would definitely return to the Sheldon if we were staying in Eastbourne again. We felt really relaxed after our stay.

We have just returned from a lovely, relaxing 4 night stay at the Sheldon and can really recommend it.Our room was big, with a very comfy king size bed, and a really big bathroom, we were on the lower ground floor but the room was still light and airy The car park is a real bonus too, although we did have a few nerve wracking moments getting in and out of it with our large car! Breakfast was served in a lovely dining room, there was plenty of choice and everything was cooked perfectly. The Sheldon is nicely decorated and is also in a good, quiet location, only a short walk from the beautiful sea front. The only tiny fault was the outdoor fake pot plants which did look a bit tatty but other than that the hotel is perfect.

We have booked this hotel already in February due to lots of reasons - positive reviews, the short distance to the seafront, own parking space, the photos from their Homepage and much more. We have spent 11 nights in "The Sheldon", it has been perfect and a very happy time for us. The room has been nice decorated with more than enough space and free w-lan, tea and coffee, own small lounge, a nice shower room and it has been very quiet during all the nights. Breakfast has been nice and everybody there did a lot, to make our holidays perfect. We will come back asap. At last, many thanks to the owner Judith, you are the sunshine in your house and you made us feel very welcome, Sigurd + Iris

Stayed here mid August with my husband and Mum. We had two lovely rooms - a superior double and the luxury suite. Fabulous space, light and airy, very clean. We were given a very friendly welcome on arrival and it was great to have a space in the off road car park after a long drive. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice and freshly cooked food to order. The hotel is in a great location - 2 minutes stroll to the sea front and similar to the town centre and restaurants. Would highly recommend and really hope to return before too long!

Booked a room in June for the Airbourne Airshow in August. No planning involved, The Sheldon was the first place I tried which had a room available because of a cancellation! How lucky were we?! Close to both beach and town, free parking, albeit a bit tight with the size of modern cars, and excellent breakfast with plenty of choice.
Would definitely stay here again and would recommend to others.

We stayed for three nights over the very busy Airbourne Weekend. The deciding factor for us to book was the location and also the car park which is a real bonus this close to the beach. It really was a lucky find. Our HUGE room was at the front with a bay window, a king sized bed which was really comfortable. Super crisp linen, and everywhere so spotlessly clean! The shower room was on the small side, but served a purpose. The breakfast room is bright and cheerful and the Full English exactly as it should be. The Hotel only serves breakfast but there are so many good, reasonably priced restaurants within 2/3 minutes walk it really isn't an issue. Family owned & run with a small friendly team of staff, you really can't go wrong staying here.

My wife and I have just returned form a trip to Eastbourne we stayed overnight in the Sheldon hotel . We wen to Eastbourne for the British Legion band playing on the bandstand and I booked one night at the Sheldon. It was one of the best bookings I have done. We ha da really good room and the service left nothing to be desired. We were welcomed in by I think the son of the owners who took us to our room rather than just telling us where it was. The breakfast was served very promptly and included in the very modest price together with FREE parking in their car park. We will certainly return when we next want to visit Eastbourne.

Stayed here after a recommendation and wasn't disappointed.
Booked the budget double and the room was very clean and comfortable (lovely bed!).
Breakfast was absolutely delicious and there was a huge range of goodies to be had!
Most importantly, the staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for us (including helping us get out of the car park after some odd parking by a fellow guest!)
If I could change anything, perhaps the shower room could do with updating now, as it was rather cramped and a little old-fashioned?
Also, our room was above the kitchen so got rather noisy around breakfast time what with extractor fans and banging pots and pans. Not so good for me with my love of snoozing lol! :)
On the whole though, a wonderful stay, outstanding location and lovely, friendly atmosphere, all for very good value. Thank you!

It is a clean, little hotel with friendly hosts within a good location. Our basic room came at a good price with a lovely breakfast! The B&B is in a well kept heritage building and we would certainly stay there again!

I stayed in a budget room for two nights last week, the room was small but perfectly sized for one person visiting for work. It is a very short walk from the sea and I almost forgot I was there for work in the evenings. Breakfast was delicious and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Would stay there again when visiting for work or on holiday.

The most perfect family run place to stay in Eastbourne. The staff are so helpful and friendly and really made us feel that we belonged there!! Our room was perfect and the Suite is so beautiful - perfect for a romantic night. The Sheldon is so close to the beach and the main shopping centre that we were able to leave our car in the private car park and walk to them. Only needing to use the car when we were going further afield. Greg, Judith, Jordan and Mikey made our stay so enjoyable that we will definitely be back and know that we are assured of a warm welcome.

I stayed for a couple of nights for work recently. The location of the property is very central and only a short 5-10min walk from the station and all the central amenities of Eastbourne.
Very modern property that is decorated to a high standard within a historic Victorian building. The rooms are spacious and comfortable.
Breakfast options of Full English, Omelette or Pancakes was a great way to start the day.
Looking forward to coming back again next time Im in Eastbourne!

I visited this hotel this weekend first thing I noticed was all the dog ends at the main entrance.
Was met by very friendly young lady who showed us to room 21looked ok but noticed curtain hanging of window. Cracked sink in bathroom dust on both bedside lamps stained cushions on bed.
But the worst thing was the stained bed mattress covers with bodley hair on them,
Called staff they removed cushions changed bedding while we went out for a meal
Room could have been great but not enough attention to detail by staff and owner
Who I spoke to and blamed cleaning crews and did not really seem intrested
Breakfast was great as was the location
